"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

Back to Business

The steam-rollin’ Yanks were shut out by one of the game’s best last night, ending a seven-game winning streak. The boys are back at it again this afternoon as they aim to start a new one. I won’t be able to catch it, but Emma will and she’ll be back later on with a re-cap. And our boy Dimelo is up in Toronto with crew reppin’ NYC and the Banter.

Meanwhile, it is gorgeous up here in Vermont, so I’m a cool out with Emily’s family–it’s reunion weekend don’t ya know?–and try not to peak at the score on my blackberry too much. Helps have a seven-and-a-half game lead, don’t it?

per petey:

UPDATE, 11:15 a.m.: Just watched Mo throw 16 pitches in the pen. Looked good to me.

me likey!

[0] Bah...I could've gone to Toronto today--lots a great and cheap seats to be had--and for whatever reason I opted against it. Ah well, I'll catch at least part of the game on TV.

4 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 1:31 pm

Pretty play by Cano. Even though it was a hard hit ball he looked smooth like it was just a regular grounder. Scutaro actually was slowing down and curving like he was going to round second, apparently he didn't think Robbie was going to get it.

5 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 1:40 pm

Melky getting hot again.

6 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 1:59 pm

Gutsy call by the umps. Looked foul to me.

7 Cliff Corcoran   ~  Sep 5, 2009 2:05 pm

BF, thanks for the effort today. Looks like Labor day weekend has wiped us out. Me, I'm working . . . enjoy the game.

8 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 2:22 pm

7 Doing what I can. Nice shot by Cano, dontcha know.

9 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 2:23 pm

Nce scream by Melky as he gets plunked in the upper thigh (or lower butt).

10 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 5, 2009 2:33 pm

Hey, Team. I'm missing Andy *again!* :(

How's he doing?

And how 'bout that Robbie? You look at his numbers (I look at his numbers) and am driven to distraction that this guy is not a number three hitter.

.320/20+HR?

I really hope he can assume that role sometime soon.

11 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 2:37 pm

Yankees have been messing around not knocking guys in, I hope it doesn't cost Andy the win.

12 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 2:38 pm

10 Andy's looked great except for a couple of pitches to Ruiz.

13 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 2:41 pm

I like Robbie but I wish he would walk a little more, .320 avg but only a .350 OBP (Isn't that league average?). He's also always seemed to fall into a slump when they move him higher than 6th in the batting order.

14 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 2:43 pm

Crap, right between Robbie and Hairston. Tie game.

15 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 2:49 pm

Tex is on the mark. Followed by an Arod single. Maybe they can make Andy comfortable.

16 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:06 pm

[13] Yes, he wilts when moved up or in Big Spots, generally. As to walking, sure, it'd be nice if we walked more, but if he can hit well over .300 with consistency, I really don't mind at all.

17 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:07 pm

Swish with the nice play at 1B for an OF.

18 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:08 pm

[10] i'm missing it too. just getting in to follow online.

well, the 6-hole is like the 2nd "3" !!! ; )

wazzup, BF? thanks for the posts!

ooh, me no likey leadoff walks (unless we're on offense)

[13] yeah, i'd like the walks + some hustle. i really wish he had some base stealing abilities. as it stands, he needs to go 4-4 just to break even on his career rates. ugh.

19 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:09 pm

Bad play by the middle IF on a gb to Andy. This shouldn't be happening this late in the year. I know I'm nitpicking but it's just annoying.

20 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:10 pm

um, what happened there? why aren't there 2 outs???

21 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:10 pm

[19] crap. and don't walk wells to load the bases!!!

22 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:11 pm

HA! swingin' 3-0...serves ya right! ; )

23 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:13 pm

[22] actually, i wouldn't mind seeing more players swing 3-0. i know it's an "unwritten rule/law" and a respect thing, but in certain cases - you're just trying to win the damn game and are almost guaranteed a piece 'o cake right down the chute. it seems like most of the time it goes strike 1, foul ball for strike 2, then out. why not swing if you're geared for it and can size it up...?

24 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:14 pm

good job, Andrew.

i'd like to see the Score Truck cross the border here!

25 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:14 pm

18 No problem. I've never seen the Banter this quiet, but I guess normal people are out enjoying the beautiful weather this holiday weekend. I guess I'm what one would call a fanatic.

Andy picks up his fielders by getting 2 popups. I think I feel my mancrush recovering from when he left to play for the Stros.

26 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:14 pm

[17] i didn't mean to silence you and step on your lines, BF! ; )

[i'll shut up now...]

27 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:16 pm

[25] ah, i think most all of the folks here are "fanatics". weather's not so beautiful here in the ATL. i don't celebrate "holidays". i had a late gig outta state last nite and an early afternoon appt. today. i'm just gonna follow baseball and relax this weekend.

yeah, after he rejoined, i put his baseball card back up on my fridge! i'm not taking Moose down. i miss him...

28 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:17 pm

really nice AB, by Hinske. i have a feeling he's gonna do something good in the playoffs!!!

29 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:17 pm

26 I am glad for the company. My dog is napping, my wife is chatting online...I'm not complaining. It's nice to control the TV for a little bit.

30 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:20 pm

27 Yeah, outside of my brother's b-day bbq tomorrow, I will just be relaxing and catching the Yankee games.

31 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:24 pm

Swisher really fits in to that 2nd place in the batting order. 2for 4 in getting on-base today.

32 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:24 pm

ooh, i wish i could actually see the game on tv. the cubs game isn't even on wgn. i'm just reading some baseball news and following the game online, whilst listening to live Pat Metheny.

i actually have zero solid plans until i teach on tuesday. catch up on some stuff around the house and hopefully practice. i might break my month long beer sabbatical...still unsure about that. i might duck out for a nap and see if that helps aids a decision!

SwishSke on base for Tex!

33 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:25 pm

[31] i really like Swish. i hope he starts finding YS III as cozy as it is...

34 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:27 pm

would it be clutch for Arod to get a hit here or is it too early still?

35 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:28 pm

Arod almost kills the pitcher on a liner to center. "Chuck and Duck" says Cone.

36 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:28 pm

Sizemore shut down for the year. minor elbow and lower abdominal surgery in the coming weeks. should be fine for next season. the perennial 20-20, won't sniff that in either category this season (18-13). he had 4 seasons in a row, including 30-30 last year. i know Cliff is a fan...

37 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:29 pm

good job, A-Rod!

i'd love a Jorgie double here

38 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:31 pm

How can you not like Grady Sizemore, other than he's not a Yankee?

39 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:32 pm

Hip-Hip!!!

5-2

40 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:32 pm

Lefty Carlson coming in for Robbie

41 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:32 pm

37 a single's good. Way to go Po! How come Andy never had any problems pitching to Po?

42 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:33 pm

[38] i do like him! i hope he gets back to his high power-steal #'s next season!

43 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:35 pm

Po has 24 ribbie's in his last 22 games! (per petey)

44 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:38 pm

Love PeteAbe's blog. Andy could go 7 if he's efficient.

45 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:39 pm

that's 5 walks for Andy. is he wild? getting squeezed? tired?

46 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:40 pm

[44] i was just thinking that! i'm hoping for a quick DP here and another innings from the big lefty.

47 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:40 pm

Damn I hope I didn't jinx him. That was ugly all around. Melky may not have been able to get to it, but he looked bad on that. Andy fails to backup 3rd. Yankees with a couple of brain farts today.

48 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:41 pm

jesus fucking h. christ. that's not very efficient. now i wonder if he'll even finish 6.

bollocks.

49 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:43 pm

46 he may still come out for the 7th, I guess Hughes closes today if he Yankees hold on to the lead. Who pitches the 8th(or 7th) Robertson?

50 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:45 pm

yeah, he very well may start the 7th.

Andy:

6 IP, 4 hits, 4 ER, 5 BB's, 3 K's - 101 pitches

not great. not terribly brutal. certainly not optimal...

51 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:48 pm

Hinske with your best shot?

52 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:49 pm

Not today.

53 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:51 pm

dammit, that was a feeble inning. does Andy come out for the top of the order? i'm thinking...no.

54 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:52 pm

Damon in for defense? Here's Robertson. Andy's done, not great but good enough to win hopefully.

55 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:54 pm

i figgered it'd be Robertson.

hmmm, i wonder if Hinske hurt himself on his groundout. hope not!

throw STRIKES, kid!!!

56 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:54 pm

aaarrrggghhh!!! nothing infuriates me more than when our bullpen guys come in and walk the leadoff man. : /

57 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:55 pm

Robertson pitching inside, I like that. PeteAbe said earlier that Eiland is having the pitchers go inside more often, Yankees lead in hit batters this year.

58 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:57 pm

Robertson may not have Bard's fastball, but his is plenty good enough.

56 Walking the laedoff man should be a fine. Whether its by Girardi or the Kanagaroo court.

59 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:57 pm

was it too slow to be a DP?

60 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:58 pm

That was a 2-0 fastball right by Wells. I wonder if his delivery is deceptive cause the radar said only 90.

61 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 3:59 pm

59 Yeah hit softly, just beat the runner to second.

62 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:00 pm

nice K on Vernon.

get Millar down quick!

63 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:00 pm

FB down the middle K's Wells looking.

64 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:02 pm

well, that went rather well after the leadoff walk! : )

65 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:04 pm

it's another multi-hit game for Robbie + a walk!

D. Lee has really come on for the Cubs after a slow start. he's *just* under .300-30-100.

66 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:06 pm

Captain Singles!!!

he's gonna get a HUGE ovation at the Stadium next week. i've GOTTA see that highlight!!!

67 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:06 pm

Cap'n with another hit, 6 to go to catch the great Gehrig.

68 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:07 pm

[67] Jeter is just unbelievable. i love my Captain!!! : )

69 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:09 pm

like clockwork:

3 balls, a gimme strike, a foul and...

[stay tuned]

70 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:10 pm

lame

71 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:10 pm

66 That should be a great moment. I will be watching, wife be damned.

72 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:10 pm

do i smell a double dip for Tex?

73 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:11 pm

Tex hit right on the toe.

74 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:11 pm

and by double dip, i meant...HBP ; )

is he okay?!

75 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:12 pm

Arod almost hit on the foot.

76 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:13 pm

74 he looks fine, Ball really ricocheted of his foot though.

77 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:13 pm

[75] i say, we oughtta KICK the living shit outta these Jays! ; )

78 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:14 pm

This is why I love Po he really has been the best at hitting behind Arod. BB for Arod, bases full for Po.

79 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:14 pm

4 pitch walk for Alex. bases juiced, 1 out. come on Po, sweep the leg!!!

80 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:17 pm

Downs has gotten wild 2-0 to Po. But Scutaro makes a beautiful play to turn the DP. He slides to cut the ball off, flips it with the glove to the 2B while sitting on the grouned. On to first DP. F&^K!

81 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:17 pm

fucking shit.

Texas out to an early lead!

82 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:19 pm

Letsgo Texas ^ Pale Hose.

83 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:19 pm

^ supposed to be &

84 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:19 pm

i hate FOX so much that i always forget about TWIB. i coulda watched some baseball news. oh well...

85 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:20 pm

Rangers already up 3-0. ChiSox have a men on 1st & 2nd, no out. both games top 1...

86 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:21 pm

TWIB used to be ahead of its time when I was a kid. I loved Mel Allen, didn't realize until much later that he used to be a Yankees announcer. Who does TWIB now?

87 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:21 pm

Bruney facing Lind. i doesn't like this matchup! : /

88 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:22 pm

[86] Buzz Brainard, or something like that. i don't watch it too very often, but i just love watching current baseball news type shows.

89 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:23 pm

Pale Hose up 2-zip already off Wake.

90 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:23 pm

encarnacion's picture makes him look very old and weird and sorta like jose contreras.

91 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:24 pm

[87] I didn't either, but it worked out realllll nice.

Hi all. I've been mainly listening on the radio today.

92 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:25 pm

I guess Girardi really wants to see what Bruney will do in HPS? Would be good to have the Bruney from earlier on in the year + Hughes + Mo to finnish off games in the PS.

93 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:26 pm

[92] I've been confidently predicting that almost all season, but I've kind of given up.

94 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:27 pm

[91] i was gonna channel you earlier by calling Cano "Rob", but figured you were away for the "holiday".

[92] it's not incredibly high pressure, since no runners on, but i hear ya...

95 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:27 pm

Girardi pulling Bruney as soon as he allows a base runner, here come Hughes.

96 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:28 pm

Yay, Hughes for the 4-out save! And I was scratching my head thinking, "Cokey for righty batters?? Who else do we have?"

97 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:28 pm

94 I just figured he hadn't been in a 1-run game in a while.

98 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:28 pm

3-0 chisox!

millwood about to fuck it all up vs the Oreo's... : /

99 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:29 pm

Hughes in for the 4-out save

100 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:30 pm

I actually like Wakefield for a boston player, but come on Chi Sox.

96 I don't if anyone else is "trusted" this late in the game.

102 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:31 pm

[100] i still want him to get shellacked today!

c'mon Millwood!!!

103 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:32 pm

HUUUUUUUGHES!!!!!! : )

104 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:32 pm

I loves me some homegrown Hughes.

105 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:34 pm

Dillweed escapes with giving up just 1 run.

Chi 3-0
Tex 3-1

106 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:35 pm

That's my Rob.

107 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:35 pm

Yeah Robbie!!!

me likey leadoff doubles VERY much!!!

must plate this GEICO run!!!

108 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:36 pm

[106] : )

109 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:36 pm

106 Robbie is definitely hot today. 3-4 with a walk and a Hr.

110 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:37 pm

we've been wearing out their 'pen. might help us tomorrow afternoon!

111 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:37 pm

I know this is just wrong, but I find myself half wishing Hughes could just stay in the bullpen. It's so comforting.
Well, maybe Joba will return to the pen next year. If he can't turn things around as a starter.

112 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:38 pm

[109] If only he would walk. He'd be the consummate hitter.

113 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:38 pm

i was hoping for a Matsui sighting today!

even if he's Groundzilla, he should get robbie to 3rd...

114 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:39 pm

Haha hahahaha! A Godzilla infield hit. Few and far between.

115 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:39 pm

Hmmmmm.
So, will Pena actually play the outfield in the ninth?

116 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:40 pm

Pena in to pinch run, please!

[112] and if he stole bases, he'd be the consummate player

117 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:41 pm

Oh, Kay just explained: give up the DH, of course, and have Swish play the OF and Teix take first. (Why not Pena play first -- can he do it?)

118 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:41 pm

Frankie Brains into run, haha!!! : )

119 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:42 pm

Insurance the Melkyway!

120 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:43 pm

Was anyone thinking Damon should bunt? I was.

121 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:43 pm

nice Melk!!!

double steal would be cool, though not entirely necessary...

122 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:44 pm

[120] i'd rather a double steal!

123 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:45 pm

Double-steal takes a big chance of losing one of the base runners, though.
I like the bunt here (not with 2 strikes) because the value of runs is declining very rapidly at this point. One more makes it almost a lock, two more makes it a laugher, and the value of the third would be close to zero.

124 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:45 pm

fuck. dillweed really sucks. mora homered. 3-2 Tejas...

125 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:46 pm

Hm, the Pitch f/X data agrees with Johnny.

126 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:46 pm

[123] oh, you're absolutely right - i just think my idea is more exciting! ; )

127 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:46 pm

well...that sucked.

128 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:47 pm

By the way, when Jeter got his most recent hit, making it six to go, Suzyn Waldman said "he might tie the record on Monday."
Bad arithmetic, or wildly optimistic?

129 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:47 pm

doulbe steal...now!!!

130 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:48 pm

[127] The bunt would have been better, huh? Though I suddenly remembered what happened last time JD tried that. Yuck.

131 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:50 pm

Jeets K's on a pitch he backed away from cause it was INSIDE upmp.

132 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:50 pm

goddamn it. (btw, i'm still happy with melky's insurance run, the opportunity for more and the 2-run lead)

133 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:51 pm

He even argued...as much as Jeter argues anyway.

134 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:51 pm

so that's two bad strike calls, back-to-back? bollocks, i say!

[130] it is always better to double steal. even when there's only one runner on base!!! ; )

135 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:51 pm

This is absurd. The umpire has widened the plate on his left side by about four inches. (Inside pitch to DJ, outside to Damon and Teix.)

136 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:52 pm

Swisher not liking the calls either...Kay says ump is getting tired, long game. Hughes should aim for the corners when he comes back.

137 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:52 pm

I mean Swish, not Teix.

138 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:53 pm

Rangers got a run back. 4-2. prolly gonna be a long one at Camden...

139 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:54 pm

note to Phil:

make this quick. my eyes is closing and i need to take a nap.

thanks,

I missed most of the game with a prior engagement. Cripes, this is still going on?!?

141 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:58 pm

Come on, thelarmis, you can stay up long enough to watch Phil strike out the side on 16 pitches. Take one for the team!

142 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:58 pm

Any of youse watching this on TV? There have been some hotties standing in the back ground (behind home plate) all game. They are all dressed in black, I wonder if they work there, as servers perhaps?

143 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 4:58 pm

Oh, nice. Good, that will add to thelarmis' nap time.

144 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:00 pm

Huuuuuuuugghhhhhheeess....

145 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:00 pm

Pettitte is 13-6 with a 4.10 ERA in 170+ innings

156 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:08 pm

I was going to go too. Am now flipping between US open and Sox game. 16 year old Oudin just beat Sharappova.

157 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:08 pm

155 Good old Andy, a perfect fit with the Yankees.

158 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:13 pm

[156] i would gladly help console Sharapova. from here unto eternity... ; )

[157] i'm so happy he's back!

159 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:15 pm

Yipes.
We don't have to face Gavin Floyd against this year, do we?

160 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:16 pm

millwood really friggin' sucks. tie game, bases clogged w/ Hyrdox

[159] nope!

161 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:17 pm

Still watching tennis, am actually afraid to turn on Sox vs Sox. Gavin Floyd still a great pitcher after five innigs.

162 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:19 pm

i really hope Chicago can score more runs...

163 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:22 pm

Alexei Ramirez!

164 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:25 pm

And it's over. Damn.

165 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:25 pm

Good pitch, too. (Nick Green hit a decent pitch back up the middle for a single, BuckFoston.)

166 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:26 pm

FUCK YOU, nick green. fuck you!!!

167 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:29 pm

165 Oh well, after 6 innings Gavin Floyd is pitching a damn good game.
166 Ditto.

168 Cliff Corcoran   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:35 pm

I'm impressed. This is basically a 167-comment two-man thread with cameos from RIYank. A little sad to see no one else around, but at the same time kinda proud of thelarmis and BF for keeping things going anyway.

169 BuckFoston   ~  Sep 5, 2009 5:43 pm

Thanks Cliff, it was fun. Now to get walk the dog and get some needed sunshine and fresh air. Hope thelarmis gets his nap in.

170 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2009 6:13 pm

Hey, I have a sixth of the postings: I want full scale pay for this one, not a stinking cameo!

But yeah, hats off to thelarmis and BuckFoston for taking care of business today.

171 Just Fair   ~  Sep 5, 2009 6:32 pm

Ha. After getting lots o' schoolwork done and running the hound, I was flipping between the Yanks-Notre Dame, and Sharapova. That was confusing enough. But I was 2-1 today. I will always root for Maria, but good for the 17 year old kid for beating her this afternoon.

172 Chyll Will   ~  Sep 5, 2009 8:30 pm

[168] Was out working today, came back too late to comment on the games :(
