My Ideal

Bahamas - Honeymoon 015

My wife came home tonight and after getting settled, she lay down on the couch next to me and stretched her right foot onto my lap and asked, “Do you mind rubbing it?”

She looked at me with those big, hazel eyes, smelling good even after a long day at work (how does that happen?). I smiled at her. Exactly how am I supposed to say “no” to that?

It’s not easy. So I said “yes,” and massaged her right foot.  And I busted on her, which is how things equal out. I do what she says but get to make fun of her in return. When I was done with her right foot she stuck the other one out and flexed her toes, which she does when she wants something or when she is inexplicably happy.

“You don’t want me to walk lopsided, do you?” Big eyes, big smile:

Man, I know how this chump must have felt. Blind-sided and completely overwhelmed. We don’t stand a chance.

Pheromones.

this sounds all too familiar.

I didn't used to give this many back/foot rubs...then I got a girlfriend.

i saw this at mlb trade rumors and thought of weeping:

"If you're a holds fan, Batista, R.A. Dickey, and Wright are your leaders. "

i'm a day late (and MANY dollars short), but i'm listening to some old JJ Johnson on Blue Note (genre/era defining trombone player) and the song on now is called "Daylie Double." of course it reminded me of Emma's cool appearance on Jeopardy yesterday!

[0] "We don't stand a chance."

Yep, and they know it.

And Emma, if you're reading this - well done on Jeopardy! I TiVo'd the episode but wasn't able to watch it until tonight. I TiVo'd tonight's, too, in case you had won - I thought you might have after I read Rob Neyer's comment today.

The Final Jeopardy question was a killer.

Does your nose run?
Do your feet smell?
Then you're built upside down!

Any Yankee games soon?

[1] Awesome. I have to use that in a script; it's like a classic Humphrey Bogart line.

[10] I am an absolute sucker for a pretty face. My roommate has managed to take advantage of that fact for seven years. But the irony is I have very high (read shallow) standards for body type and a zero tolerance policy concerning attitude, so I get by pretty easily >;)

Arizona Fall League started last night. Among the Yankees prospects there: Colin Curtis, Austin Romine and Brandon Laird. It was a rout, 17-4.

I guess you can't read too much into AFL. Bubba Crosby hit .346 with a .510 slugging percentage as 23-year-old in AFL. Eric Duncan hit .362 in 2005, and was the Arizona Fall League MVP. Still...the kids are off to a good start. Curtis went 3 for 6, Romine 1 for 4 with a walk, and Laird 4 for 6. And Ian Kennedy was the winning pitcher.

Given weather, you may have more time than you think... Supposed to be miserable for games 1 & 2

“You don’t want me to walk lopsided, do you?”

(that goes in the "wish I had said that" bin .... classic!)

[14] Are pitchers' stats in the AFL more generalizable than hitters'?

16) It's one of her standard lines.

LOL

[17] My guess is no. The sample size is so small. It's only six weeks.

Heh heh, nIce, Alex. "The Lady Eve" is fabulous.

I absolutely love Barbara Stanwyck.

Any man lucky enough to have a great woman in his life should be smart enough to do anything she wants/asks/hints etc.

Also, of course, "Balls of Fire" for the same delicious display of chumpdom.

23 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 14, 2009 10:41 am

21) That is so well said. I'll remember that the next time I feel like complaining.

24 Diane Firstman   ~  Oct 14, 2009 11:03 am

OK ... curiosity is killing me .... so Alex, those aren't Em's feet in that photo, are they? :-)

(jealous of those with nice and nice-sized feet)

25 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 14, 2009 11:33 am

They ARE her feets. And they are cute little flippers ain't they?

Of course, a line has to be drawn somewhere (says the single guy) :D
