Taster’s Cherce

This is the spot to get the good fresh horseradish for Passover. It’s also the place for all things pickled:

Say Werd.

i went on a candy store tour this past saturday with my co-worker and her people.
we walked by this place (it is not open saturdays) and she said we had to come back because they pickle all kinds of stuff and it is excellent.

Yeah, it is in the same spot where Gus' used to be--the same location they used in CROSSING DELANCY, and it is right around the corner from the essex bakery that has slammin bialeys--and two doors down from that is the Donought Plant. Yes, you MUST return...just not on a Saturday.

and so it begins:

UPDATE, 1:03 p.m.: Not sure why, but Jamie Hoffmann was just introduced as the Yankees No. 2 hitter. No sign of Nick Johnson.

UPDATE, 1:13 p.m.: Johnson has been scratched from the lineup. Hoffmann is in at DH. Still not sure why.

UPDATE, 1:20 p.m.: Stiff lower back for Nick Johnson.

Scoreless through 4, only 3 hits in toto. Pitchers must be ahead of the hitters this time of year.

Chad/LoHud rocks:

UPDATE, 2:20 p.m.: Just got back from the clubhouse. Johnson felt something in his back during batting practice. He wore his spikes on the turf in the cage — he usually wears turf shoes — and a spike got caught during one of his swings. He said it’s not a big deal and he would have played if this were the regular season.

[7] Not even second game of ST and Johnson's already injured? New record!

(Ok, so it sounds like a very minor thing, but I needed the scare for comedic purposes.)
