Motherwell. I had never even heard of him until recent years--my brother-in-law works for the Motherwell Foundation. Now I'm seeing his work with regularity (and I actually realize who/what I'm seeing). Among abstract painters his work is more of a mystery to me. Anyone out there care to educate me as to why he's got the big rep?

Hey. I like some of his pictures, especially in this series, but he isn't a heavyweight in the same class as Kline or deKooning.
