"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

A Cause for Celebration

As I mentioned earlier, Emma Span’s first book was released yesterday. Here at the Banter we are bursting with pride at Emma’s accomplishment, because she’s one of us, and also because she’s simply one of the best writers to emerge from the blogosphere, a truly original voice. Smart and funny. I think the world of her, as a writer and as a friend–and yes, she’ll be back to blogging here in the very near future.

So join us in giving her props and don’t sleep–go pick up a copy of her memoir.

Ya hoid?

When I get one, I hope she'll autograph it for me; that needs to happen >;)

Last night, she was having trouble coming up with something to inscribe the books with (besides her name). She asked me for suggestions ...

Me: The first of my many best-sellers!
Emma: A bit ostentatious ...
Me: The first of my TWO best-sellers!
Emma (laughing): A little better ...
Me: Free Cecilio Guante?
Emma (thinking): I've got it .... (scribbles in my just-bought book)

She wrote "Score Truck!"

LOL!

Score truck! How perfect is that!. My copy arrived yesterday. For a little entertainment, do to Amazon to read her father's review. Good stuff!

Congratulations Emma! The only hard decision is whether to wait for the actual book or download to the e-reader now. This sure looks like a shelf-er, but I am in Arkansas and have many hours of flying left to do this week.

Either way, I can't wait.

Thanks so much, guys! (And thanks again, Alex). You're the best... can't wait to get blogging again.

Other than "Score Truck," any suggestions for what I can sign in books besides my name? That people who aren't loyal Banter commenters might understand?

(My friend who wrote the orgasm book Alex mentioned in his post yesterday AM signed "happy orgasms" in hers, which, while always an admirable sentiment, is not *especially* relevant to my book. Unfortunately).

"Happy Scorgasms", perhaps?
