From the vaults, dig this classic 2006 Harper’s magazine article by Frederick Kaufman, Debbie Does Salad: The Food Network at the Frontiers of Pornography.

Yikes. Gastroporn, and gourmet wordplay too! "Debbie Does Salad" should have been the title of a movie about a sex-crazed vegetarian Texan dyslexic, though.

Speaking of, uh, wordplay, I have a question. Which of these two is weirder?

1. John Sterling's tag on the Granderson dinger: "Oh, Curtis, you're something sorta Grandish!"

2. Kay's call of Posada over-sliding home: "Nobody's touched home plate yet, Posada does, he's safe!"

They are both kind of bizarre. Maybe Sterling's is an allusion that I'm not getting?

Someone in the Comments section nailed Sterling when they said something like what makes Sterling great is also what makes him so terrible.

[1] i read somewhere that sterling's thing is a line from finnian's rainbow

i watched an episode of barefoot contessa once when she tried out a recipe for i think some kind of soup for the sole purpose of sending it to someone at the food network who was going to make it just to photograph it. i just found that very weird.
