Afternoon Art

Staying with the theme of big and bad, dig this picture by Frank Frazetta:

Not  a lot of laughs in ol’ Frank’s work, but it sure am Bad.

I used to have a bunch of Eerie and Vampirella comics when I was a kid with his covers. Amazing stuff. I was drawn to the artwork then, fantasizing how cool it would be to be able to do work like that (and well - fantasizing a bit about Vampirella as well, I guess - hey I was a kid).

Dude had mad talent.

That horse appears to be having a chuckle, at least.

For what he does, Frank does it the best. There are a lot of horrible imitators. It's kind of like Led Zeppelin in many ways, including at times the subject matter.
