julian adderly. floridian. 'cannonball' was a sobriquet given to him because of his voracious appetite. he was a high school band director before - and i believe after - his stint as a jazz star in gotham (and beyond). his brother nat was an excellent trumpeter, as well.

He and I are fraternity brothers. :)

That's a great recording. A strong strong backbeat there. A precursor to the skiffle/R&B/blues that gave way to rock n roll. Nice find, Alex!

Awesome. Cannonball Adderley yet another great jazz man who left us too early, only 48 years old! Almost all his 1960s records are worth picking up, especially the live stuff with his brither Nat on trumpet and Ysef Lateef on reeds.
