the first thing i noticed in this picture was that:

PARK backwards is KRAP.

2 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 24, 2010 7:39 pm

Well, now, how am I supposed to follow that?

LOL.

Seriously, I love this shot because I posted it just around Magic Hour--okay, a little early. But it's just the best time of day, especially in the City, aptly named "Magic."

Krap Oh Nahc? Sounds elvish, actually...

There's this thing they do with a bright orange ball with black stripes all around it; they toss it around and bounce it up and down the floor and fling it at an enemy's metal loop with an open-ended net attached to the bottom side of it. I dunno, I hear they are having some sort of draft or something? Anyone heard of such a thing; they're building a militia or something like that?

[2] I took a magic hour shot of the Whitestone Bridge that will make your face fall off; I'll be reposting some pics I took and/or played with on SC pretty soon...

Tigers up on the Mets; John Wall went number 1 (surprise)...Have fun with Gilbert.

6 RIYank   ~  Jun 24, 2010 8:29 pm

[5] John Wall urinated??? You mean, right on tv -- or he left the room to go to the bathroom at some key moment??

It was hot and humid here too, but it's cooled off very fast, comfortable now. I have to admit that I'm still flying from yesterday's soccer game.

7 thelarmis   ~  Jun 24, 2010 8:36 pm

[6] are you sure you gave up the substance abuse after high school?! ; )

i'll be flying tomorrow. but because of a wedding, not a soccer game. actually, because of an airplane, but that's a whole nutha matter entirely...

8 thelarmis   ~  Jun 24, 2010 8:37 pm

ya know, i really hate it when the parentheses part of the smiley face ends up on the other line. takes away the whole effect...

9 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 24, 2010 8:37 pm

Stay away from that airplane glue!

[2] definitely alex - great picture and bumping up on magic hour.

i'm ready for the dodger series.

11 RIYank   ~  Jun 24, 2010 9:11 pm

[8] Uh, yeah, but it's me who has the substance problem, huh?

Yeah, you're going to Philadelphia, as I recall. Enjoy. You love that area.

32 Celcius out here this morning (I've given up on Farneheit), and humid again..but sunny enough..can Mr. OK Jazz get though a pile of reports in time to sneak off for a Guinness in the afternoon? With no game thread, I say "prospects: GOOD"...

thelarmis, I'm on a huge Yusef Lateef kick at the moment. The man was incredibly innovative, years ahead of the game!

13 RIYank   ~  Jun 24, 2010 9:18 pm

[12] I love how you non-partisanly misspell both "Celsius" and "Fahrenheit"!

You are no threat to Diane, Mr. OK.

14 Chyll Will   ~  Jun 24, 2010 9:28 pm

[13] Good thing he left out Kevin!

That airplane glue must be getting to me, cuz I swear we've had a conversation similar to this before...

15 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Jun 24, 2010 9:29 pm

[13] Celcius is an accepted spelling! And "Farneheit" is in tribute to everyone's favorite enforcer, Kyle FARNEsworth... :)

Very much enjoyed Cliff's discourse on Paths of Glory. It is truly one of the great films of all time. Another great Kirk Douglas film - also in black and white - is Lonely are the Brave. If you haven't seen them, get them to the front of your Netflix queue.

I think John Wall used that sidewalk for his #1

[14] Deja glue.
[13] Accepted by Japanese jazzophiles everywhere! But not by Swedish astronomers with eponymous temperature scales...

19 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Jun 24, 2010 9:58 pm

[18] Ah the Swedes..besides the Bergmans, Anita Ekberg and the Swedish Chef, what have they given us??

20 thelarmis   ~  Jun 24, 2010 10:29 pm

[11] ah, philthy is phine. i'll be in the 'burbs and it's a quick trip for a wedding. will be nice to see some old college friends. plus, one of my best buds moved back there recently, from here in atlanta, and is picking me up from the hairport. will be really great to sees him!

[12] mr. ok - NICE on the yusef lateef. i don't have nearly enough of his stuff. my first introduction to the multi-instrumentalist was on grant green's granstand album on blue note. i like cats like yusef! brother jack mcduff was on that record, too...

[14] Kevim Escobar!

[18] deja glue, is hilarious! i prefer white out. liquid paper, is fine too...

i've got 10 pages left in my Cardboard Gods book. gonna knock that out now...

21 thelarmis   ~  Jun 24, 2010 10:32 pm

wow, pretty heavy statement from mr. torre (via lohud)

“The thing that gets me is last year, I’m watching the World Series, and not one minute did I wish I was in the dugout to be honest with you,” he said. “It was great and I did it a lot of times, but that was enough.”

22 thelarmis   ~  Jun 24, 2010 10:33 pm

[19] swedes - lotsa hot blonde girls and good technical metal!

i'm quite thankful : )

23 Chyll Will   ~  Jun 24, 2010 10:40 pm

46 seamus   ~  Jun 25, 2010 1:05 am
