Beat of the Day

How to rock a party, an intro to blending by Z-Trip (from the mostly excellent documentary about the history of Hip Hop DJing, Scratch*):

And here, Z Trip just gets stoopit:

* My only reservation is that the movie didn’t cover the great Philly DJs; otherwise, it’s impressive.

Yo, dat's HYPE!

Never did see "Scratch" I guess I missed out.

Z-Trip & DJ P's mash-up classic, "Uneasy Listening Vol. 1 was one of the things that got me through the winter of '01-'02 after 9/11. You just can't understand the brilliance of Bruce Hornsby singing over the beat from Newcleus "Jam On It" with Run-D.M.C. chiming in to agree 'that's the way it IS" until you've heard it from Z-Trip.

Yeah, I've always heard that Z Trip is a pompous dude, but he does a nice job of explaining blending here.

Mash up master.

Within any great artist is at least a touch of arrogance. More than a touch for great athletes I'm sure.
