Onion Powder

So far I like the idea of Kenny Powers more than I like the real Kenny Powers. But the jury is still out, and there’s always room for improvement. The fact that Kenny Powers doesn’t literally know how to throw a ball is weak.

Oh yeah, huge game tonight–Price vs. Lee. Should be a good one.

I'm rooting for Cliff Lee. But I'm also rooting for Rays-Yanks. Go baseball!

I like Price and the Rays tonight. Think Lee will actually be less than great.

I kind of want the Rangers. Simply because I don't want to seen any more games at The Trop. Blow that stupid place up.

Holy fuck, that was ballsy!

7 Just Fair   ~  Oct 12, 2010 8:21 pm

Teix never would have fallen for that trick. Their Elvis is faster than our Fat Elvis.

Stupid idea to throw that hook twice in a row like that.

[6] What happened?

10 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 12, 2010 8:56 pm

Andrus was on 2nd, there was a ground ball hit to 1st, Pena had to toss the ball to Price covering.

Andrus took off for 3rd on contact and never slowed down as he rounded the bag, when he saw Price had his back to him while covering 1st, he kept going and made it home easily.

If you told me Bengie Molina would steal a base in the playoffs ...

12 The Hawk   ~  Oct 12, 2010 9:00 pm

I really don't know who to root for here.

13 The Hawk   ~  Oct 12, 2010 9:04 pm

Though I gotta say I always forget how fun it is to watch a high stakes baseball game when your team isn't involved.

Longoria is getting a hit here ...

19 mhoward120   ~  Oct 12, 2010 9:19 pm

The whole idea is not such much which team wins this game but rather that Cliff Lee does nothing to hurt himself which could really put a damper on our pitching staff next season.

20 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 12, 2010 9:20 pm

These guys all suck.

Can't run, can't field...

21 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 12, 2010 9:21 pm

Wow.

1st Cruz dogs a triple into a double, then he steals 3rd to make up for it and forces an error that allows him to score.

22 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 12, 2010 9:23 pm

This whole "antlers" and "claw" would be endearing ... if it were endearing.

23 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 12, 2010 9:23 pm

[21] And that idiot centerfielder before, muscling up trying to make the out at home. You could see the whole thing unfolding before he fielded the ball. You saw his lust to make an impossible play and of course, next thing you know, the ball was at the backstop.

24 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 12, 2010 9:32 pm

That's a ridiculous hook this guy has.

25 Just Fair   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:05 pm

I can't believe they Knoblauched another one.

26 Dimelo   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:06 pm

Wow! An array of trouble for the Rays.

27 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:07 pm

[25] Details for us Gameday-ers please!!

28 Dimelo   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:11 pm

[27] Ball hit to Pena, he goes to start the SS covering to start the 3-6-1 DP, but 1 fumbled with his footwork at the first-base bag then delayed with checking Vladdy-Daddy, who was rumbling down from 3rd to home. Run scores, so 3 - 1 Rangers.

29 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:13 pm

[28] Wow...Keystone Rays are going to give it away...

30 Just Fair   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:14 pm

[27] Vladdy on 2nd. Nelson Cruz on 1st. Kinsler grounds to Pena who starts a 1-6 force. Short throws to Price who's covering at first. Kinsler safe by an inch. Price forgets old creaky legs is running and does't turn immediately to throw home. His eventual throw home is beaten by a head first slide into home by Vladdy. SAFE!! Barely. : )

31 Dimelo   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:22 pm

Com'on Rays, tie the game already and leave it tied.

We want extra inning baseball
We want extra inning baseball
We want extra inning baseball
We want extra inning baseball
!!!!!

32 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:24 pm

Vladdy running like Grampappy McCoy and laying out at home with a great slide. Do you think he wants to win this? (He's playing October ball Scioscia.)

Both teams look lame, but I guess when you have no skin in the game, the faults shine through.

33 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:27 pm

I think the best take away from this game is that Cliff Lee won't be able start game 1 against us, something I'm very happy about.

On the other side of the ball, I hope our SP comes up *big*, because I have this nightmare vision of the Rangers repeating the 2002 ALCS we had against the Angels.

34 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:27 pm

If Texas uses CJ Wilson as a reliever, when will he and Lee face the Yankees as starters (if Texas wins)?

35 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:30 pm

Those cowbells! Anything but (worse than the rally monkey).

36 Dimelo   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:32 pm

[33] I believe the Yanks lost the ALDS to the Angels, not ALCS.

37 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:32 pm

bottom of the Rays lineup is quite craptacular..

38 Just Fair   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:32 pm

[34] I'm pretty sure Lee goes game 3. Ifnwhen. : )

39 Dimelo   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:33 pm

Lee is nasty

40 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:36 pm

So.... outside of Lee, how do we stack up against Texas pitching?

41 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:57 pm

I hope Texas holds. It's now official: The Rays stink, Their fans are barely band wagoners, that temporary quanset hut of a stadium makes the Alameda County Coliseum seem like Wrigley, those cowbells are worse than vuvuzuelas, Joe Maddon is a sore loser, and maybe not the tactician he thinks he is. I believe the Yankees will match up better with the Rangers.

A Texas-New York showdown somehow has relevance with the current news.

Let's go Texas!

42 Just Fair   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:58 pm

Has a series ever gone the limit with the road team winning each game?
My personal search was a failure.

43 Dimelo   ~  Oct 12, 2010 10:59 pm

ALDS OVAH!

44 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 12, 2010 11:01 pm

46 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 12, 2010 11:04 pm

I'm not sure if I did my math correct, but between the 4 teams, I have a record of Home Team: 3 and Away Team 11. And one of those 3 Home Wins was ours.

Between getting Minn, having a needed long rest after that series, and no opponent ALCS Ace until Game #3, things have worked out very nicely for us so far.

Honestly, I'm surprised. I thought we might get our asses handed to us.

47 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 12, 2010 11:08 pm

[46] It just shows that Minny's record was inflated by the games against Cleveland, Kansas City and to a degree, Detroit. They just weren't that good.

48 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 12, 2010 11:10 pm

Well, we got the Rangers. Be careful what you wish for, though

49 Dimelo   ~  Oct 12, 2010 11:12 pm

DESTROY TEXAS!!!!

50 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 12, 2010 11:16 pm

Texas has a whorehouse in it!

51 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 12, 2010 11:17 pm

[48] Out of our control. Just sit back and ride the coaster.

52 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 12, 2010 11:23 pm

I'm predicting this is going to be harder than it might 1st seem.

Texas is going to test Cletus a ALOT on the bases.

I have a feeling Ron Washington is going to out Chessmaster the Chessmaster, though, and not in a good way.

LET'S GO YANKEES!!!

53 The Mick536   ~  Oct 13, 2010 8:43 am

I guess nobody watches Kenny. Bored be pretty funny, too. Having a little trouble with Boardwalk.

54 seamus   ~  Oct 13, 2010 9:20 am

[53] bored to death is fantastic! I've seen a few eps of Kenny and they were funny but just not my cup of tea so I don't seek it out at all. Im liking boardwalk but not my favorite show either. Most of the tv i watch now is hbo. I only recently subscribed. Mainly though i'm looking forward to game of thrones.
