Too Close to the Sun?

Hard to imagine the Giants beating Roy Halladay twice–and to go to the Whirled Serious? Just don’t see it. But then again, they’ve got the Freak on their side so it’s not out of the question by any stretch. Anything can happen and often does.

I’ll be listening on the radio because I’ve got Cablevision and Fox is blocked-out.

Let’s Go Base-ball.

Straight out the Bay Area…

Weird play. Anyone just see that Hallday bunt? Buster Posey - cool name.

[1] And following that play an error that plates two runs for the Phillies. They have got to be leading the playoffs in most unearned runs.

let's see, single + HBP, bad bunt + bad call + bad footwork at 3rd + bad defense at first + single = 3 runs.

i wonder if girardi can call that play if we have to face lee again. the problem i see is that it requires 2 singles.

Man that ump didn't spend much time looking down to see if the bunt was fair or not, which turns out wasn't. Looked like one of those, I'll let my gut make the call instead of my eyes...

[3] :)

Doc going to cruise now, rough break fro Lincecum and the Jints..

Funny, I wasn't really watching -- I kind of had the game on in the background. And when Halladay bunted, I immediately thought, "Stupid, Lincecum is having real control problems and you're just giving him an out!" The National League. So hard to get used to it.

[7] 'Amaze' is Japanese for 'nauseate', right?

[9] Am not sure if this is a myth or not, but I believe Oh Sadaharu was asked to sac bunt at times..and he did so immediately with no questions asked...the man hit 868 home runs..

Did Girardi ever coach in Japan?

12 RIYank   ~  Oct 21, 2010 9:47 pm

[11] That's not exactly one of Girardi's faults.

Doubled off first! C'mon Giants...no way Doc can finish this game with that pitch count, right?

From ESPN:
Yankees right fielder Nick Swisher wants to face Cliff Lee in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series, but he is sick of talking about him. Swisher cannot stand hearing another question asked about Lee.

"You guys are talking about Cliff Lee?" said Swisher out loud in a room full of reporters. "[Expletive], who cares?"

As he walked off, Swisher said, "I can't wait to hit against his [behind]."
......
Well..... let's hope that Nick can kick his [behind]!

[16] Heh. That was the pinch hitter for Doc who hit into the DP, Mr. OK!

Glad I'm not the only one who forgets about those funny NL differences...

[17] I love Nick Swisher. Great to have someone feisty on the team again.

[15] I don't have a problem with the strategy per se if the guys bunting actually had a clue about bunting. I'm guessing that's not a problem in Japan.

21 yankintexas   ~  Oct 21, 2010 10:26 pm

[17] Hopefully he'll kick Lewis' behind as a warmup.

[20] Lot of "fundamentals" practice for the LLers according to a local dad I know here. Bunting, sliding, hitting cut-off man, etc etc..Baseball unfortunately not so "fun" here seems to me..

News Flash. Yu Darvish will not be posted this off season. Bummer. This year: 12-8, 1.78 ERA, 222 Ks, 200 innings. Dude is a stud.
