When I was a kid, barely witnessing/remembering 1977 and 1978 and growing up on golden age Yankees lore, I literally thought the World Series was a special series played by the Yankees and the Dodgers exclusively. In many way 1981 was the first WS I truly remember, or at least remember remembering. And all of sudden, forty+ years later...
I have a memory so vague I don't even know if it is real or not. I think I saw Fernando Valenzuela catch either a comebacker or a line drive bare-handed in the 1981 W.S. But that's it. I was 6. Then 15 years of World Series drought until 1996 and I learned how exciting a World Series can be when one's team is participating. I can't believe we had to endure another 15 year drought from 09 until 24. lol....You can't predict baseball, Suzyn.
GO YANKEES!
Their bullpen is very good and they just got back Graterol and left my Vescia, but who knows how effective they’ll be and they lost high leverage reliever Evan Phillips, who was their closer at points.
i saw a list of the umps for this series and it's brutal. out of 90, the best ranked was 18th. it's all about giving the old guys with 'time' the assignment. fucking horseshit.
I remember seeing Ver-douche-go’s first game when he was with the Dodgers. I immediately hated him. That hate grew- A LOT - when he went to the Shit Sox and changed his number to 99 as a right fielder. Then there’s the whole sexual scandal while he was in the minor leagues. Supposedly, he was ‘innocent’. It was really hard ‘rooting’ for him early this season. I’d love to see The Martian and let this AV go in the offseason. All that said, I hope he gets a WS ring this year!
My wife and I are in Puerto Rico at a hotel and couldn't find the game on the TV, so we're listening on the radio. We finally got the game on TV with the Deportes broadcast.
[87] my mom is at the hospital with my dad, who just had back surgery, and has the same thing going on - deportes broadcast, sterling on the radio. enjoy PR!
Game 1: Carlos Torres (ranked 32nd of 90, 1st WS)
Game 2: Andy Fletcher (73rd, 1st WS)
Game 3: Mark Carlson (49th)
Game 4: Doug Eddings (60th)
Game 5: Mark Ripperger (18th, 1st WS)
Game 6: Chad Fairchild (37th)
Game 7: Todd Tichenor (24th)
[125] and, i can't see numbers on my phone. i'm going back and forth from the living room tv and the one in my den. my phone is charging in the living room and that's the 'main' tv, but is like a pitch and a half slower than my den, which is quite odd.
in my den, i'm on my laptop, which means i can't use the shift key to capitalize, as the typing here is already bothering the nerve damage in my right pinkie...
[150] ooh, i remember us talking about that! i use a gel pad for my other wrist. mine is from a piano recording. that's why i don't play that instrument any longer...
it mainly gets aggravated when i type to much on the computer...
[153] It is so awful listening to them. I gotta switch to the radio soon - sadly as you know no RI-based station carries the Yanks anymore. I'm hoping the MLB app feed is not far behind the TV.
[162] Thanks, man! He was about a pitch and change ahead of my TV but I have TiVo and so I just hit pause on the TV, counted to 10, and now it is basically synced. (grateful emoji)
Let's see what happens with the commercials.
I was just saying that Verdugo should be benched for the Martian but I guess if he can avoid making an out, he should get another plate appearance. I guess.
Thanks team. I am a scant few miles outside DC so no Helene impact. Anyone passing through the morass of northern Virginia feel free to reach out for a coffee or beverage.
I have a few thoughts on the 15 year WS drought that I’ve been meaning to convert to text. Maybe this weekend.
This remains my spot when things get hairy. Thanks Alex and co.
[355] Hmmmm... I think so? Checking the list, actually not! Hal Chase the criminal was the first captain, and he didn't win a Serious before that. Roger Peckinpaugh was the second, and he also didn't win a Serious before that. Ruth didn't win a Serious with the Yankees before briefly being named captain, nor did Everett Scott (both of course won with Boston)... and Munson was named captain in 1976.
Wait. What. I'm sorry. The Dodgers pitching coach is... Mark Prior?!?!? THE Mark Prior?! Holy crap. I don't think I've paid enough attention to the Dodgers.
I guess you could pull Cole, but Boone obviously should have let Weaver close it out. Roberts is no brain surgeon, but Boone's grey matter is a few ounces short and always has been.
1) I paused the game to run to Wallyworld before they closed to freshen my drink
2) When I came back 15 minutes later and hit play ... the mlb,tv feed played for 15 seconds and then reset to the beginning of the broadcast
3) I was very grumpy about that fact that I missed the end of the game and probably couldn't see what I missed without spoiling it.
4) When I then saw what had transpired in my absence, I was relieved I missed the end of the game
5) I still despise Boone-y and want him gone: bringing CORTES IN THAT SPOT? WTF???
Dang, it's been a long time.
When I was a kid, barely witnessing/remembering 1977 and 1978 and growing up on golden age Yankees lore, I literally thought the World Series was a special series played by the Yankees and the Dodgers exclusively. GO YANKEES!
Ah, back to the Series of my youth. Before it was misspent.
I lasted 45 seconds with the pregame show ... another hour to go.
Wow ... 5! ... 5!!! of us, I wonder who else will crawl out of the woodwork for a visit???
[6] I mean I was here a little over the ALDS and ALCS, but, hi cult! Hi all!
Hoping we have a lot of Banterites appear tonight. Thinking back to 15 years ago and man, those 2 guys were playing then!!
Hiya all! I’ll be here (formerly Seamus)!
(6) Neither tanned, nor rested, but ready for the ‘Serious after fifteen years! Let’s Go Yankees!!
(2)(3) Same same here, we’re all around that age!
Let’s go Yankees!
[9] I was very much hoping you'd show!
And Hi! everyone!
Let's get Serious!!!
oh my god.
LET'S PLAY ALREADY!!!!!
(12) Wouldn’t miss it, Cult! Great too see so many familiar names
Now we just need Nostra!
Over/Under on innnings before I turn off Smoltz: 0.25?
Can we get the game started?
Was calm all idea. Now I am over the freaking moon. Let's Go Yankees!
all day.
What's up Mr. OKJT?
[19] anxiety is climbing… I mean in a good way!
[16] He is on the way!
Gah!
Argh
(20) Hey Ara! Not much, full breakfast feast here though for the game
Hi, Team!!! : )
Gleyber hit it hard.
Birthday Boy walks!!!
Good at bat Soto!
[26] Nostra!
That better not be a portend of thing to come. judge…
[19] [21] Same - was chill all day. Not so much now!
Judge has just really struggled. Frustrating to se because expectations are so high
ooh, that was waaay inside...
[32] I think he's pressing just a bit.
He bobbled it!
Well ... Chizz Jazz time ... sorta wish it was Rizzo in this spot.
booted! may them pay!
Not a strike. Bootsie!
Ooooh, error
We’ll take it!
Sigh
Rats
Goddammit!
This ump sucks already.
Only one who actually hit the ball was Gleyber.
How good is LA’s bullpen?
That was a scary first pitch. Ohtani to Judge.
One pitch, one out. Phew and Whew
Scary at bats.
That was scary too. Damn.
[44] Very.
Heart attack Cole so far
[48] thanks. Hmmm
Their bullpen is very good and they just got back Graterol and left my Vescia, but who knows how effective they’ll be and they lost high leverage reliever Evan Phillips, who was their closer at points.
Ugh.
Not happy about this.
WTF Verdugo!! You’re there for your glove!!!
Embarrassing play.
So much for Verdugo being the good fielder. Damn it
Fucking *ridiculous*!!!
Well phew
[51] thanks. I didn’t pay enough attention to them obviously.
Phew.
Turned out okay, but that inning was not a good sign.
Wow hopefully Cole will settle down
The Martian could have fielded that well. Hopefully he gets a start this series.
Home plate ump is on the LensCrafters Grandpa Glasses plan tonight??
Line drive in the box score
very nice! run up his pitch count and get into their 'pen quick.
i saw a list of the umps for this series and it's brutal. out of 90, the best ranked was 18th. it's all about giving the old guys with 'time' the assignment. fucking horseshit.
[65] And hopefully Roberts will leave him in too long in an effort to preserve his bullpen...
There was a picture of Volpe at the 2009 parade making the rounds. How about that?
The more we can see their pen, the better it’ll be when they throw a bullpen game. But, either way, let’s just WIN!!!
The Google Cloud bits are excruciating. Or maybe I’m just too old. About time for the radio feed!
[66] Ugh. You’ve got a classic Series with generational superstars, and let’s go by seniority, not merit.
Glad to ‘see’ ya thelarmis! Thought you may be out rockin’ on a Friday.
Productive out!
Oh, it's Verdugout.
Jazz!!! I was supposed to be, but changed plans when we advanced! \m/
The balls a'bouncing oddly tonight. Let's go Yankees!
Meh.
My sister just texted saying ‘Was John Smoltz a great player? Because he kinda sucks as an announcer’ Yes & Yes
[77] HaHa!!
nice play, jazz! he's so fast. hope he gets it together at the plate ... and fast!
that was some serious hook on that knuckle curve
now, that's a cole 4-seamer!!!!
[78] I didn’t know he had a sex scandal.
It really is incredible.
Best players in the game. Mediocre umpires.
Also mediocre announcers.
Yeesh ... very tight zone tonight.
that was a fucking STRIKE!
My wife and I are in Puerto Rico at a hotel and couldn't find the game on the TV, so we're listening on the radio. We finally got the game on TV with the Deportes broadcast.
Let's go Yank-ees!
That’s a strike
same fucking place and NOW it's a strike???
thelarmis.
The info about the umps is beyond maddening. And he misses another strike. Oi!
That'll do
Ace stuff from Cole. Even after getting squeezed on strike two
Time to walk the terrorists
[87] my mom is at the hospital with my dad, who just had back surgery, and has the same thing going on - deportes broadcast, sterling on the radio. enjoy PR!
Sweeeeet! Give him the heater.
[90] I'll try to find it real quick...
[94] Hope your dad recovers well!
Hey rbj! Took my little Sam out for a walk before the game
Nice stuff from Cole there under the circumstances. Now let's get some runs.
[94] [97] Here, here - and hope you are feeling better, too.
[90] got it. Check out this bollocks!
World Series Umpires Announced:
Game 1: Carlos Torres (ranked 32nd of 90, 1st WS)
Game 2: Andy Fletcher (73rd, 1st WS)
Game 3: Mark Carlson (49th)
Game 4: Doug Eddings (60th)
Game 5: Mark Ripperger (18th, 1st WS)
Game 6: Chad Fairchild (37th)
Game 7: Todd Tichenor (24th)
[100] thanks if that’s for me!
Yes Gleyber!
[97] thanks, jayne!
[100] thanks, shaun. dad is doing alright, lotsa pain. i'm hangin' in. let's just say my post may have been a bit premature in some regards...
the soto ... nod, then the shuffle!
ARGH
These ground balls hit up the middle are getting old.
aw, man - that was ball 4. he was trying to do too much...
That was ball 5.
if judge were hot, soto takes that pitch for a walk.
judge looks *terrible*
late. that was a pitch for him to blast
Soto walked but this ump is calling a totally random strike zone, infuriating
[103] I'm pulling for you both, my friend.
Shite outs.
fucking awful, man.
gonna pour another ale into my Yankees pint glass. cheers!
[112] (heart emoji)
[112] thanks! Appreciated!
[114] I would share Yankees pint glass pic if i could on here haha
[117] BB is a reminder of teh Internet 1.5 or so
Uh oh-tani
Hey cool!
Maybe they'll show Mr OK Jazz!
[117] i know, right? i keep wanting to share pics, type emojis, and 'like' posts!!!
[118] yeah it’’s historic! And I like it as is but I’ve gotten used to [121] things!
Dodgers are attacking Cole's fastball. Yankees have watched too many fast balls.
Meet Uncle Charlie, Shohei
[121] [117] At the posts on BB are always sequential. Well, with one famous exception. #banterhistory
Very nice, Ace Cole
Come is dealing!
(120) Hi RI! I watched the WBC Final in a bar, was great fun but my day drinking days are long gone now so it’s coffee and snacks at home now :)
Cole*
[125] And NOT nested ... I hate nesting posts ... biggest complaint with the forums on BBTF.
Discord is a pretty damn fine system for a community to interact
[125] ah yes, i remember sequential issues. We have our BB history!
At least for smaller-ish ones where there's not an insane amount of traffic
[130] That is very true re Discord, and that's a brilliant idea.
well this frame is fucking fucked.
[132] It is appropriate that we are f'd up right pinkie bros in some small way
[insert hug emoji here]
hit a homer, tony. our first basemen never do that anymore...
Sighs
[136] oh, man - i'm sorry you deal with that too. i'm gonna have to stop typing here soon and mainly use my cell...
[94] Best of luck to him.
I disapprove.
that was a *terrible* pitch at which to swing.
[140] thank you, man. he's been through a lot. he'll be 83 next tuesday!
Better at bats please. Better results at least please.
[142] lol
Oh man.
Know the feeling thelarmis, my pop just turned 80! Beat cancer but has lots other issues
Good luck to you and your dad, thelarmis. And mom.
"Mookie Betts is under-appreciated for the total package he is."
Nice catch, Rizzo
[139] Car accident, broken arm never healed properly, slowly went numb ... but I use gel pads at my desk for my forearms and elbows, which helps a lot
That’s Rizzo afield!
[148] I mean, he only almost won the NL MVP last year... totally under-appreciated. (disgusted rolling eyes emoji)
I swear you could replace FOX announcers with ChatGPT.
Nice work Cole!
[150] ooh, i remember us talking about that! i use a gel pad for my other wrist. mine is from a piano recording. that's why i don't play that instrument any longer...
it mainly gets aggravated when i type to much on the computer...
[153] Miss you, RI . . .
why did Cole just shake his hand out after that pitch? (yikes emoji)
then moved his fingers after that pitch. ugh...
got out of the inning. i won't rest easy until he comes back out and *deals*
[153] It is so awful listening to them. I gotta switch to the radio soon - sadly as you know no RI-based station carries the Yanks anymore. I'm hoping the MLB app feed is not far behind the TV.
[160] the mlb app is usually ahead of the tv, but maybe not for this. i'll check for ya. hang tight...
sterling, via mlb app, is nearly two pitches ahead of my den tv (which is nearly two pitches ahead of my 'main' tv in the living room). oy and vey!
sterling did just drop a variation on 'you can't predict baseball'.
that said, you can predict what wells is about to do...
They won’t shut up about Flaherty pitching so deep into the game.
Just about to type ‘bottom of the lineup is really craptacular’ when Vergroundout singles!
Verdugo of all people. You can’t predict baseball indeed
[165] I prefer the cleaner 'Verdugout'
[162] Thanks, man! He was about a pitch and change ahead of my TV but I have TiVo and so I just hit pause on the TV, counted to 10, and now it is basically synced. (grateful emoji)
Let's see what happens with the commercials.
I was just saying that Verdugo should be benched for the Martian but I guess if he can avoid making an out, he should get another plate appearance. I guess.
[131] Indeed we do (sorry it took me forever to reply!).
Funny, after that first inning I was pretty worried about Cole.
Turns out, he's the only guy we didn't have to worry about.
Sooo relieved Cole is killin’ it. I was worried…
Ugh. I jinxed it.
motherfucker. bad move, birthday boy
Okay so, how many games do you see a team's only two hits be triples???
[171] too soon
Damn it
should have been a double...
The OF defense has let Cole down tonight. It's only 1.
Dammit
we're losing. :_(
What's with the garbage outfield tonight?
Ugh so close. Thought he might get him there
Cole has been great, the O & D letting him down :(
Does Chyll Will and/or our leader AB ever stop by these parts anymore?!
It's only 1.
If we can't get more than 1, we don't deserve to win.
OK offense needs to wake up. They should all be into the game now. Hopefully we make this happen!
Soto ... PAY HIM HAL!
Yes Soto! Now please Judge, don’t chase…
He better tie the fucking game
Judge is so off
Sigh
C'mon Frank
FUCK!!!
Argh, Judge.
When the F did Jack Flaherty become Prime Pedro???
I was really hoping the 5 days off or whatever would help him reset his mindset.
FRAN K SMASHG!
Well that was good.
Stantonian!
HOLY SHIT!!!
STANTONIAN!!
Wowie Zowie!!!
chills.
KawaaaaaaaaBOOOOOOOOM!!!
That was fucking awesome.
Here we go! Former Yankee farmhand Banda coming in to get Jazz back on track
Sterling’s call was fabulous!
You know I got to love a player named ‘Jazz’, good to see him get on base.
Yes Jazz there you go!
I had a feeling that’d be good for Jazz. Now, steal
Yes, Jazz!!!
Nice stolen base! I’ll accept it
Steal third, too
Really, Rizz???
Wow managing they are
Wait why did they walk Volpe???
Bloody strewth
Howza bout a double steal?
[214] Because Wells has been complete shite for about 45 days?
That was so close to a run.
Ok, Alex don’t be a Verdontgo
No PH for Verdugout??
Yes yes yes!
VerdugOUT
Boo
Fucking douche…go
I hate the Edman kid already
Ugh you had to get Edman to keep the bases empty for Ohtani.
Fuck that little fuck. Wasn’t there talk about us getting him at the deadline - when he was injured - too?
Um, Cole stop giving up XBH please.
So close, but that’s an out. Don’t let him score…
Nice play, Chizz
Well waddyaknow. Jazz!
Nice, Jazz
Fuck YEAH, Jazz!
Wow phew nice one Jazz!
Cole stopped for an overnight with Marshawn, and left with beast mode enabled.
Another phew
Exhale!
Ok phew
Cole’s @ 80 pitches; keep him in
Bend .. don't break ... good job, Gerrit
Huuuge!
[239] Yes.
Bare-handed catch ... props
There we go
I would actually pay to make them stop saying "spinning the ball".
So huge if Judge can get on track…….
Ok, a hit for Aaron
Yay Judge!
Wait. He didn’t strike out?
Also, fuck you Blue on the check swing and that first inside pitch to Big G
I might go to the bullpen here.
Rather than change glassware, I washed the Yankees pint. Not that I’m superstitious or anything…
Who is coming in?
Shoot, bullpen seems better starting with a clean inning.
[251] i hear ya. was there anyone warming? i'm glad cole came out, but wish it was a clean inning for whoever is coming in...
Just back from a charity bar event hosted for a friend.
No chance to change glassware here.
LFGY.
[255] I realize he got their top 3 hitters out last inning, but it seemed like it was time.
Holmes?????? Why???????
oh, come the fuck on
Ah, yes ... the Clay Holmes Experience
How I missed it ...
Uhohlmes
Not ready for prime time. Yikes.
Cole got the hook too soon. Come on!
really need a dp
[263] i would have kept him in.
what a bunt. insane.
I won't ever get used to these quick calls to the pen. But everyone is doing it.
incredible! get outta this...NOW!!!
Huge out!
Nice bunt
Nicer popup
[267] How many games did we win because they kept Pedro in too long? The league has adapted
Nice pitch there, Clay!
[256] knuckles! i play in your state a coupla few times a year. not sure if you were affected by Helene, but hope you and yours are all ok!
Tommy Tightpants coming in!
[271] And almost everyone in the pen nowadays throws well.
Not going to the lefty??
Well another phew
[256] Hey knuckles!
Huuuuuuuugggggee! Beautiful work there
YEAH, BABY!!!
Excellent....
Omg Torres threw that before Rizzo was looking and I was nervous
Good point jaynek. I just tip my hat and call the Yankees my daddy.
Mr. Changeup! Probably going to start him in the 8th or is Boone thinking Weaver for 2?
Some insurance would be nice
[284] i'm thinking/hoping Mr. Tightpants for 'teh' 8th and Ferocious Jungle Cat for the 9th.
but, for now, let's have a big 'ol delivery from the BB score truck!
is cole talking with berti in the dugout?
smoltz is so so sooo very bad at his job.
That pitch was so low
[285] Here, here.
Now where was the low strike earlier in the game? Sheesh.
Thanks Alex and co.
so...graterol and vesia both look pretty good. that doesn't bode well for their bullpen game.
let's make sure we secure the victory here tonight, please and thank you!
[293]can we get out the batting 9th pesky hitter?
[292] acha. wish i knew. i played that area several times the past few years, but nothing on the books up that way now...
[292] Good to see you knuckles!
got the pest out!
Ugh. Don’t go to the lefty, horrible sloppy defense.
Poor coverage. Bad fielding there and I fear we’ll pay.
oh, fuck. what the hell was that?
Ok, keeping Ohtani in the park is good, but yeesh
we could have stranded him. way more difficult now...
Yeesh how many mess ups turned into triples can we have
ALL THE ANGRY CURSING EMOJIS ... bad pitch + shite fielding ... derpy, derpy derp???
Atrocious defense.
3rd defensive assisted triple today.
Not a fan of the pitching switch already. ugh.
ferocious jungle cat coming in to extinguish this.
(please don't fan the flames. fan the batter instead!)
[306] brutal. fucking brutal. : /
Just gotta hold 'em here.
Really a well pitched game considering the zone.
That is not holding 'em. :(
Yup, could see that coming
good catch at least...
Damn!
Well can we score? Do we need the old score truck?
Your periodic reminder of why Gleyber can’t earn that long term extension. Ugh.
Just to annoy EVERYONE ... I feel like Wells is going to run into one here
[318] that would be golden!
Ah, well
Verdugo is not gonna hit shit. Why.
Good thing we don't have another LF on the roster ... sigh.
wells is cooked...
asshole. play jaSSon.
OK Gleyber, it wasn't entirely your fault, but you could get on and then Soto could help make up for his bad throw...
Gleyber — aw fuck!
Yes! Yes! That will make up for... wait, what? OK... that was a Dodgers fan?!?
fucking hell
Omg not sure they can turn that over.
i was going to be 'nostra' and say homer for gleyber before that pitch.
it was obvious fan interference. they'll probably walk the birthday boy. if judge doesn't come through, we'll most likely lose in walkoff fashion...
[330] Hey now, it's not over yet.
'spectator' interference? is that a new manfred term for this?
Let's go, Judge!
Stop saying it’s been 43 years. You’re going to make me feel old. I was only 17 the last time.
Time for Judge to take that IBB personally.
[334] I was 9. It was the first W.S. I remember watching.
No one of rather see them score off than this d-bag Treinen
Time for Judge to channel that pregame conversation with Derek.
same pitch, judge. track it. fuck.
[336] 1977 for me. But I remember reading in the papers the 1969 Mets and why were they getting more press than my Yankees.
please hit it out.
[334] [336] I was a couple weeks shy of 4, so I don't remember it.
Poopsicles
Aw crap
inexcusably bad.
Judge, good God man.
Move him in the lineup. He's dead at the three spot. If you can move Jeter you can move Judge.
[347] yeah, at the very least, flip him and Stanton
i can easily seeing this end on 1 pitch. really wish teo wasn't up right here...
ok, fine. second pitch...
Munch going to walk it off :\
whew.
[351] i had that feeling with teo. muncy can ... but he won't!
man, the mlb app is two full pitches ahead...
Are Mattingly and Judge the only captains in Yankees history not to have won a series at the time they were named?
[355] IF that's the case, let's just say it's Donnie Baseball and revisit next week
weave dog!
Haha well Judge was named in 2023 sooooo....
Weaver!
Great grab Verdugo!
YES! Ok Verdugo can stay
Thank goodness.
I thought tonight was toast as soon as the Fernando news came out so this is free baseball at this point.
finally, he makes a good play.
wait. did the announcer (joe davis?) just say he 'continues to sparkle defensively'? was he sleeping when the game began? smoltz is contagious.
[362] same here.
then, it was bizarre about the rudy may news. there are sooo many storylines in this series. we really need to win tonight.
[364] and, i don't want any of that to come across bad, of course. i feel awful for both families. :_(
Stanton - tie Mickey Mantle right here!
tie The Mick tomorrow...
Be tbe hero Jazz! I've seen your BP. You can do it.
[355] Hmmmm... I think so? Checking the list, actually not! Hal Chase the criminal was the first captain, and he didn't win a Serious before that. Roger Peckinpaugh was the second, and he also didn't win a Serious before that. Ruth didn't win a Serious with the Yankees before briefly being named captain, nor did Everett Scott (both of course won with Boston)... and Munson was named captain in 1976.
nice, jazz. steal second!
Nice research!
Chizz with the Jazzhands
Nice speed, Jazz! Now let's get him across the plate!!
Stolen
Jazz!
sweet, jazz!
steal, third. seriously.
[372] : )
still steal third. i know the dp will still be in play, but AV is somewhat fast and will hustle.
Wait. What. I'm sorry. The Dodgers pitching coach is... Mark Prior?!?!? THE Mark Prior?! Holy crap. I don't think I've paid enough attention to the Dodgers.
damn, mark prior looks old!
nothing you can do on that first pitch. glad he didn't even swing and look bad
Chizz Jazzhands x3!!!
Alright Jazz.
[378] Good call!!
No Shaun, you have paid the exact right amount to the Dodgers.
YEAH, JAZZ!!!
score him.
Jazzy! Jazz!
Gotta keep Jazz next year
why show bunt?
NOT A STRIKE!!!
[388] oh yeah
A RUN!
I accept that run!
OK! I wish Rizzo had kept running but I will take the run!
Speed Kills!
Yes! Why stop there for Rizzo?
YES!!!
BUT, how did he still get rizzo? why did he stop?
Atta boy, Volp!
Let's go Yankees!
[385] You are of course right. I just figured I would have heard that Mark Prior was their pitching coach!
Facial hair introduces a wide range of old v young appearance.
Ask me how I know (itching to shave this beard down to my TedLasso costume for 10/31)
Rizzo was already out. Stopping puts an obstacle for a clean throw to first.
Nice Volpe!
dear austin wells -
i will fucking HATE you on November 5th.
score this runner now, though.
Let's go!
Stay with Weaver?
Was that inside? I know, I know, awful zone all night. But still...
[405] I say no. Bottom of the order and save his pitches for when we really need them.
Cousins in, save Weaver for tomorrow
Stealing game one on the road counts as “need” in my book but I’m beyond second guessing Boone this postseason.
If someone gets on, a lefty comes in to face Shohei.
That's one!
One
Aaron f#$&+-; has been solid!
i understand not wanting to overexpose weaver, and i like cousins, but FUCK!
luke threw 19 pitches though.
1 down...
I know there is no check swing rule but damn, I thought he went.
That's a strike. Come on.
Um
goddamn it. must get a dp. otherwise, it's ohtani...
You had one job
Don’t like taking out Weaver
[414] did you see the new technology released yesterday, methinks?
amazing stuff! i hope they use it soon.
You cannot convince me in both name and appearance that Lux is not generated by AI. So weird and ephemeral
Cousins was not ready for prime time there. Now get thd DP.
[419] me neither. but, 19 pitches and we're gonna need him a lot. still, i'd like him in.
i do like cousins though. need a dp here...
tim hill AND nestor up in the pen...for shohei
Finally get that inside call.
Fuck fuck fuck
Shit
for fuck's sake. you've gotta be kidding me.
we're going to lose now. that was it right there. my goodness...
That’s an out. Give away.
This defense has been an absolute shit show.
Oh not good
Fractions of inches on defense
and, of course, gleyber would have made the play.
Nestor hasn’t pitched in ages..?
OK, it is time for Nasty Nestor to be the hero.
Get nasty, Nestor. I guess
it better be hill. nestor hasn't pitched...
fuck. it's nestor. this will NOT end well.
[433] I very briefly forgot that Gleyber was out and thought, "Again, dude?" My bad Gleyber!
Nestor makes me nervous. It’s been forever since he’s pitched!
High Drama.
Time to get nasty
We need a strikeout, and then an out. Nasty Nestor is good at both.
All is forgiven, Verdugo!!!
(For tonight at least)
Jeteresque!
HOLY FUCKING WOW!!!
What a play!
Verdugo!
Wow Verdugo!
wait. they get 90 feet???
fuck.
OK, that's 2
Holy shite. What a catch.
if he's hurt, we have jaSSon
[450] No, they walked Betts to have Nasty Nestor face the lefty Freeman.
Why the IBB?? Moves the winning run to third??
i didn't think they get a free base. what the fuck, joe davis?
IBB to Markus. get frederick...NOW.
Feck
[455] left on left.
Un-fucking-believable. Well that sucked major ass.
Aw, god damn fuck!
Fuck
Damn
oh my goodness. kirk gibson all over again.
Can’t argue with a walk off GS. But damn.
i knew it shouldn't have been nestor.
but i was glad he got ohtani out...
He didn't miss that one.
Analytics my ass. Clearly Freeman was dialed in, and Booneet excel make the call.
It's just 1 game. Come back tomorrow and win.
I would have gone with Hill, but Ohtani could have lit him up, too.
historic loss. beyond comprehension bad. no coming back from this...
[469] Hill was the obvious choice for me. no doubt.
i put nestor over hill on boone. terrible fucking choice.
You win the game you're playing, and Booneet pulled Weaver and lost. Not really any more complicated than that.
Even hyper conservative Torre let's Mo close it out.
Boone just never has the right feel. Takes out Weaver, uses a rusty Nestor instead of Hill. Unnecessary IBB.
[473] Didn't hate that move, but he was a starter on lots of rest so maybe it should have been considered.
[473] i would have kept in weaver, then put hill over nestor. i also would have kept cole in longer.
WTF???
6) See at least some of you again tomorrow night.
