Singy and Coney in the booth tonight. Coney! Ah, a welcome return!

2 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:09 pm

Line drive, base hit!

3 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:13 pm

Couple of hard hit balls so far.

4 joe   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:20 pm

Hey guys, I missed the top of the first. How did Jeter get on base?

5 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:21 pm

[4] See [2]!

6 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:23 pm

Oh, fer...

7 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:23 pm

Well, *that* went a long way ...

8 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:33 pm

Which would you rather have to start an inning: two walks, or a homer?

9 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:34 pm

HIP HIP!

10 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:35 pm

... but walk, walk, single is clearly better than HR, to start the inning!

11 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:41 pm

I would say last game was Jeter's best, AB wise. Now a line drive base hit? I'm impressed. Maybe he ain't dead.

12 randym77   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:42 pm

Jeez. Corey Patterson and Edwin Encarnacion? You gotta be kidding me.

13 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:43 pm

[11] Damn, too bad you buried him, then! That kind of mistake can get you drummed right out of the gravediggers' guild.

14 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:44 pm

Nice to hear Cone again, isn't it?

15 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:44 pm

Curve, curve, keep throwing the curve.

16 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:46 pm

Did my eyes deceive me, or did AJ just make an in inning adjustment to his pitch selection and sequencing???

Though I guess it was probably Martin's doing ...

17 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:47 pm

Huh.
After Encarnacion singled, I was going to say, "I guess it's too much to expect AJ to hold a lead for an entire half inning." Turns out, it wasn't too much to expect.

18 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:48 pm

[16] No, it was Belth, he texted it in. [15] was just a copy for us to see.

19 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 7:57 pm

if Burnett works well with Martin, Joe is going to have a hard time finding a way to get Cervelli his three starts a week.

20 randym77   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:02 pm

WTF.

21 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:02 pm

Oh Christ

22 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:02 pm

OH, FFS!!

23 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:02 pm

TERRIBLE PLAY!

24 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:02 pm

It will all come apart now....

25 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:32 pm

Well, that didnt go well.

26 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:34 pm

Clearly David Cone has been gone for a while. He suggested Brett Gardner might run on the first pitch.

27 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:35 pm

Well, there you go.

28 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:36 pm

Yeah, but thank goodness he didn't just stand there!

29 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:36 pm

Huh.

How about that inning?

30 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:38 pm

[29]

It was Grit-tastic

31 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:42 pm

AJ brought Lord Charles to the park with him tonite.

I wonder if it will be enough.

32 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:46 pm

Yaaayy, Teix!!

33 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:46 pm

TEIX!

GO BOOM!

34 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:48 pm

That really was a nice swing.

35 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:50 pm

Another tater for Teix? Schweeeeet!
How is AJ?

Anyone see that story about the Reds pitcher shoplifting shirts? WTF??! With an MLB salary you're shoplifting from a department store??

36 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:53 pm

Teix is driving the Score Truck this year. He was all, "Brush this back, Drabitch."

37 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:54 pm

Oh, hi Mr. OK.
AJ is good. Good curve. Still a bonehead though.

38 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:54 pm

[35] Maybe he's in debt already. Either way, not a bright kid.

Yeah, Yankees suck... they suck the life out of the opposing team's fans, reducing them to fourth-grade level jibber-jabber...

39 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:55 pm

He was out by a lot.

Damn he's slow.

40 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:56 pm

[35] Old habits die hard.

AJ smarter this year? Or his prescription has been modified?

He's got to be good, or this season will be tough.

41 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 19, 2011 8:57 pm

[37] Just a quick pop-in, hope to watch the whole game tonight.
[38] Maybe the stress of the majors got to him? Or a prank? Or the old "my wife is at the counter I thought she paid for them" situation?

42 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:02 pm

Remember that home run Brett hit last year that was like into the upper deck? Maybe not upper deck, but it was crazy long, like 450'.

43 randym77   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:03 pm

[35] I really don't understand it. But then, I don't understand Lindsay Lohan either.

When Leake was arrested, he had $250 cash, two Visa cards, and an Amex on him.

He stole six $10 shirts.

44 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:03 pm

Damn it.

45 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:03 pm

Fucking Slappy.

46 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:03 pm

Sigh.

47 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:04 pm

Well, baseball is hard. Brett knows it.

48 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:05 pm

Why doesn't Michael Kay go to Canada? Does he have a passport? Is he wanted in Ontario? Is he a Mountie most wanted? It's only a one hour flight from LGA...what is the reason?

49 randym77   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:05 pm

[41] He took the tags off six shirts and walked out with them. Pretty hard to claim it was an accident or he thought his wife paid. (He's not married anyway.)

50 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:10 pm

Damn, would have had him if Cano could hang on.

51 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:10 pm

Oh, they had him, too. Damn.

52 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:11 pm

Speed kills.

53 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:15 pm

[52] Thats why Brett stands around so much.

54 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:15 pm

C'mon AJ, knuckle down and *pitch*, dammit!

55 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:16 pm

Still a bonehead.

56 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:16 pm

NotLoganNotLoganNotLogan

57 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:17 pm

Wow. Cano sure saved that one.

58 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:18 pm

Whew. Good work Rob.

59 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:18 pm

Dammit Cult, is your MY9 feed 15 seconds ahead of mine?

60 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:20 pm

AJ Burnett, meet Edward Encarnacion.

61 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:20 pm

Martin hasn't been great on throws to 2nd, but he's been fucking outstanding on blocking balls in the dirt.

Meanwhile, GODDAMMIT AJ, GET IT TOGETHER.

62 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:21 pm

Cause you're still the same...

No matter what, the Yankees are in every game so far this year, why shouldn't the fans be entertained?

63 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:21 pm

[59] I'm watching the game on MLB.tv, maybe that's it.

64 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:24 pm

I really dont like watching Burnett pitch.

65 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:24 pm

Why? Why does this always happen to him?

66 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:24 pm

[63] So am I. Interesting. I'm actually watching via Netflix on my tv.

67 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:24 pm

[65] He's really not very good.

68 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:25 pm

D-Rob. Good call.

69 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:25 pm

Although it's always worrisome when a reliever enters with the bases loaded -- D-Rob can take a batter to get settled in. Well, we shall see.

70 mhoward120   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:26 pm

And so officially ends the quality part of the Burnett season.

71 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:27 pm

It's fucking 0-2 now...please don't fuck this up now...

72 randym77   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:28 pm

Quite the jam here.

73 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:30 pm

Wow, nice! He got away with one there.

74 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:31 pm

I guess it had late movement but still, it was right over the dish. Kind of scary.

75 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:31 pm

Yeah, Cone has not convinced me that the main problem is decisiveness. There is also the problem of sucking, vs. D-Rob's winning.

76 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:31 pm

Ok...0-2...

77 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:32 pm

Dammit, now I've gone and cursed him [61].

78 randym77   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:33 pm

Hah! What a tantrum.

79 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:33 pm

Bravo!!!!!!!

Braaaavo!!!!!

80 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:33 pm

D-Rob, D-man. (And kudos to Russell Martin.)

81 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:33 pm

Damn, he was pissed.

82 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:33 pm

Damn, Snyder going all Bo Jackson on that bat.

83 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:34 pm

A big hand for Dry Hump Davey!!!

Huzzah!

84 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:34 pm

YAY! And AJ can still get the win...

(plus the Knicks are down by one with 40+ seconds left)

85 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:35 pm

Knicks up by one with 20 seconds left. (Heartache on the inside).

86 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:36 pm

Derek looks to be swinging the bat better.

87 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:37 pm

Our SIG getting warm...

88 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:37 pm

[86] Now see what you've done ...

89 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:38 pm

Knicks down by one, with the ball and 13 seconds left.

90 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:39 pm

WOOHOO

91 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:39 pm

GRANDYMAN!!!

92 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:39 pm

Curtis murdis it.

93 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:40 pm

We sure do hit a lot of home runs.

94 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:40 pm

Wow.
And please stop telling me about the Knicks.

95 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:40 pm

[93] You hate it, I know. :-)

96 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:41 pm

[88] I know.

97 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:41 pm

Knicks in trouble...4 seconds left, down by one, Celtics with the ball.

98 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:41 pm

[95] hahahah!! I do! I don't trust it! :)

99 mhoward120   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:42 pm

D'Antoni really sucks dick

100 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:43 pm

Knicks lose again in a heartbreaker against Boston. Next year fellas....

Show/Hide Comments 101-200
101 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:44 pm

Man, Knicks fucking blew two games in Boston. And the Celtics blow, by the way. Fuck those old bastards.

102 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:44 pm

I knew it, I knew I should just not watch the NBA playoffs. I haven't watched for years. The freaking Knicks sucked me in.

The pain. The torture.

Only baseball for me, I swear it.

103 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:47 pm

Robbie shouldn't be fishing like that.

104 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:47 pm

[98] I have to admit that I don't like the fact that they've scored so few non-homer runs. And they've been lucky (I guess) to have so many men on base, relatively few of the homers have been solos.

105 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:48 pm

Does D-Rob get to pitch in the seventh inning? Or is that a dumb question?

106 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:48 pm

[104] Yeah, I watch it happen and all I can think is, "Ok, that's fine for now but how will we win in October?"

107 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:48 pm

[102] Can any other NY area team besides the Yankees be satisfyingly competent? Giants, Jets, Rangers, Mets, Knicks, etc. will break your heart most of the time. They lose in the most twisted ways.

108 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:49 pm

[105] Duh! We have a SIG for that, haven't you heard?

109 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:49 pm

Yeah, dumb question.

110 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:50 pm

[107] True, I guess (although the Giants did win the Superbowl a few years ago). But I don't give a shit about any of those other teams, only the Knicks.

Let's stop talking about that.

111 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:51 pm

[106] (Though I know, I know, Sori did golf that shot off of Schilling that almost won us our fourth straight.)

112 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:52 pm

God, what year was Joba and the gnats in Cleveland? Was that '07?

Four years ago already?

Jesus.

113 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:53 pm

I really like having Chavez.

114 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:53 pm

Damn, nice play, old man!

115 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:53 pm

[105] If Robertson pitched the seventh he could not pitch tomorrow. SIG is not a bad thing.
Nice play by Jeter.

116 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:54 pm

[111] Well, the thing is, you know this team can score in all the other ways, too. Right now they aren't, but the bright side is, when the home runs stop flowing so rapidly chances are they'll string together two walks, two singles and a sac fly for a three-run inning. Or something.

Damn, Jetes! Not dead yet.

117 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:56 pm

[115] I know, but he was in the groove. Let him pitch a couple more outs, then four outs for Joba if he's going well, and you don't have to test Soriano. Furthermore, using D-Rob for two outs at a time means more wear on him over the long run, and he's valuable.

Anyway, it's working out well so I won't complain.

118 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:56 pm

[116] Yes. I'll be happy when Jorgie gets off the interstate, among other things.

119 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:57 pm

Swisher has that weird sweep-swing thing like Hideki had.

120 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 9:58 pm

Bang.
Now plate him. Three-run lead is comfortable.

121 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:03 pm

Ugh.

122 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:04 pm

Swish failing to advance on the PB was costly.
Oh well.

123 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:08 pm

Roy Halliday and Co. losing to Randy Wolf (2-hit shoutout??) by a score of 9-0 reminds me of the thought that PathMark is our next door neighbor now... I went to the store to get some ice cream; among the choices was Turkey Hill's latest offering, based on the Philadelphia Phillies, with the Philly Phanatic gracing the box. Oh, and the flavor?

"Two Tears in a Bucket..." >;)

124 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:09 pm

[123] Whoa.
I'm a little surprised they sell that in NY.

125 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:13 pm

[124] You're telling me. This is not exactly fringe territory.

127 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:14 pm

I like this new thing where our bullpen is better than the other team's bullpen. I vaguely remember things being this way once, in the distant past...

[128} The plan: Sig Ein Nig, sounds like something from Germany in the 30's.

131 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:21 pm

I really mean, Sig Eig Nig.

132 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:22 pm

[131] Oh, sure. By Wagner. Stirring, but a little creepy.

133 randym77   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:23 pm

What's up with Gardy, anyway? Just a slump, or has the league figured him out?

134 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:23 pm

Man, Derek.

137 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:25 pm

[135] Oh, right, I forgot we have an actual Wagnerian character with us! Nothing personal with the 'creepy' thing.

138 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:30 pm

I could weep.

[137] hahahahahaah

140 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:31 pm

Wtf, Mo?

141 randym77   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:32 pm

Christ on a crutch. A wild pitch...from Mo?

142 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:32 pm

Hmmm.

Don't see that much.

143 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:32 pm

Ouch.
His location is off by about six inches. I haven't seen that happen in ages.

144 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:32 pm

The border crossing did not agree with Mo. First walk, first run allowed...no more firsts please.

145 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:33 pm

His location is really off tonight.

146 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:34 pm

Damn.

147 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:36 pm

148 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:36 pm

Fugh.

149 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:36 pm

Ugh.
The Knicks game was enough for one night, thanks.

150 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:36 pm

Flesh and blood...a man.

151 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:37 pm

Motherfucker.

153 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:37 pm

Anyway, that single was a more typical Mo hit. He looks okay to me now.

154 mhoward120   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:37 pm

Still all on fucking D'Antoni - and useless Gardner

155 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:37 pm

I feel ill.

156 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:37 pm

There was no play at home...should have taken the out.

157 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:38 pm

Note to Joe Girardi: Sometimes good things happen when you put plays on.

158 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:38 pm

Wow, that was a truly great bunt. I think Teix should have made the tag. Well, in retrospect, obviously.

159 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:38 pm

With a modicum of emotional distance, I must say, that was exquisitely executed.

160 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:38 pm

[156] Absolutely, he had no play at the plate. Could he have gotten the man at 1st?

[157] I forget, did you also say that when Gritner was CS?

162 randym77   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:39 pm

I just knew this was going to happen. When they were going on about how perfect Mo has been so far...just seemed like they were asking for it.

163 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:39 pm

[160] He had the tag, I think.

164 Raf   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:39 pm

[160] No. Momentum was against Teix

165 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:40 pm

Unbelievable.

166 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:41 pm

Mo is not missing bats.

167 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:41 pm

[162] Agreed.

168 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:41 pm

[160] Cano was covering first, would have been a tough throw.

169 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:41 pm

Did the Knicks find their way to Toronto already?

170 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:42 pm

Interesting, infield in. Not DP depth.

171 Raf   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:42 pm

Stunned that Mo's having a hard time putting batters away tonight

172 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:42 pm

Nice play, Chavez.

Otherwise, fuck it all.

173 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:43 pm

WOW! I thought Chavez threw that over Teix's head.

174 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:43 pm

Okay. Okay.

175 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:43 pm

I'm surprised the runner was not sent home on the single. Would have been close, and with one out worth the risk.

Anyway...again, why not make it entertaining for the fans. Now, let's win this.

176 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:44 pm

Whew. Well, I'm done for the night; I'm not a fan of extra innings anymore.

177 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:44 pm

[161] If Brett Gardner doesn't run, he's a completely useless player.

I'm not saying we have to be Whitey Herzog, but this idea that we only do plays that are doomed to fail (Hit and runs with Jorge Posada, for example) to prove that plays don't work is asinine.

Everyone in baseball has to know the Yankees don't run plays at this point. Maybe you'll catch someone napping at some point.

178 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:46 pm

Do we see ARod for an AB?

179 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:47 pm

So.... who's our TIG?

180 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:48 pm

[177] The Gritner steal is a perfect example of why plays are overrated. Brett really isn't that good at stealing. Giving away his few on-base appearances is really bad -- REALLY bad. It's much more costly than you gain if he steals successfully.
This is true of most plays. Sure, a successful squeeze is exciting and spectacular and memorable. If you have a great bunter, it can be a good play. But with our team, I'm happy Girardi is reluctant to put on plays.

181 Raf   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:48 pm

[179] Cameras showed Nova warming up.

182 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:49 pm

FUCK! I had put this game in the books.

183 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:49 pm

[180] If Brett Gardner can't steal bases then we need to cut him.

184 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:51 pm

Was Cano running?

185 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:52 pm

[183] Maybe. Different issue. If stealing is a bad play (which it is), then it's a bad play whether Gardner should be cut or not.

186 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:54 pm

Shocking to see Mo sitting in the dugout.

187 Raf   ~  Apr 19, 2011 10:59 pm

Nova needs to get the ball down

188 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:01 pm

oh hell

189 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:05 pm

Cano was sleeping on that play and did not set up the relay from the outfield. They might of had him at first, but Swish had to wait for Cano to get set up.

190 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:06 pm

Hmm. Nova looks....something

191 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:06 pm

Nova HAS GOT TO GET THE BALL DOWN, he skating on very thin ice.

192 Raf   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:07 pm

Snider hasn't hit a curve yet...

193 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:08 pm

sigh

194 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:08 pm

At least I didn't have to see Boone Logan.

195 Raf   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:08 pm

So he hits a fastball into the gap

196 mhoward120   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:09 pm

Could they have hit the ball any harder against Nova?

197 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:09 pm

I'm not convinced Nova is a major league pitcher

198 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:11 pm

[196] All three of those shots could have been HRs in YS. Pounding headache... the Yankees prolly needed this humility. When's Arod coming back?

199 mhoward120   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:12 pm

So lets see what kind of a pitching staff we have now - Sabathia is winless with a good ERA although not pitching very well at all; Burnett is all downhill from here; Hughes is who-the-hell-knows-what; Nova is less than that perhaps; Colon and Garcia are good for about maybe a total of 3 more quality starts between them. Gulp

200 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:14 pm

[197] Do you think Nova was petulant because he came on in relief and lost his starting slot because of it? He just throw high heat (but the few curves he threw looked pretty good) and was basically rocked.

201 Raf   ~  Apr 19, 2011 11:22 pm

[200] I wouldn't say all that. He didn't have good command today. Didn't have it in his starts either. When Nova came in, Singleton mentioned that he allowed too many baserunners.
