Fresh Out the Box

Just another heads up for you regulars. Tomorrow, Bronx Banter will have a new look. The site will be shut down for a few hours on Tuesday morning (east coast time), and then we’ll be back with a fresh new design. The comments section will be the same–actually more like we had it back in the Baseball Toaster days–but we are getting rid of the traditional blog scroll in favor of something that looks more like a menu where you can pick and choose where you want to go. It’ll take a minute to get used to but I think it’s going to enhance the jernt.

I’m excited. Can’t wait to see you on the other side.

You had me at "The comments section will be the same–actually more like we had it back in the Baseball Toaster days".

I can't wait to see it! Just wondering - how will it adapt to a browser on a cell phone?

2) Yes, it should.

Question: will those of us who get our Banter fix via RSS feed need to resubscribe?

4 Ken Arneson   ~  May 2, 2011 11:44 am

No, the RSS feed should be the same.

ah, crap. this sucks. not looking forward to this AT ALL!!!

truth is, i might get used to it in time and perhaps...even like it. it'll be a major struggle, however...

since this is essentially my last time to kvetch before the wheels come off...

BOOOOOOO!!!!

CHANGE IS EVIL!!!!

BOO-HOO!!!

WEH!!!

there. that should do it.

one good thing, is i've actually been trying to read less baseball news during the day. i have sooo much music work to take care of right now, with my new cd, working on my next cd, possible tours and more.

having something new, that's different and that i hate might very well keep me away and free to do what i actually need to be doing! nothing like major change to drive me away...

we'll see.

7) Jesus, thanks for the encouragement.

oh, i'm sure i'm in the minority. and i have NO doubts that the work you've put in will be terrific. i'm a noted technophobe and like online things to be simple and easy.

i look at the bronx banter as my online "home". in my own home, i take painstaking measures to get things in place and decorated just the way i like it. then, i leave it alone. no need to rearrange things...

i'm quite timorous about the change. i'm not at all worried the quality of your work.

Understood. Believe me I've taken great pains to make it a nice environment for the readers with the help of Ken and our designer, Laura. Then again as Woody said, "Change equals death." LOL

[10] and i promise to put forth great effort in getting used to it. i'll study it, traverse the site over & over, ask questions, etc.

i'll probably end up loving up. who knows, we'll see... my hope is that i'm comfy enough to turn my screen name red and have it linked to my new website (which is boring and bare bones, but will be getting some love & attention soon!). i really need to get my CD out there, so i can afford to get the next one out! : )

Oh, no, thelarmis...sorry to tell you but the links in your screen name will be blue in the new version, not red. ;)

Actually, I don't think the site will have to actually be shut down at any point, but it will be in flux for a time. Sidebars disappearing and reappearing and such.

The Banter's getting fluxed up again! Totally cool by me.
Can't wait to check out the new House That Belth Built (with his blogarchitect friends).

[13] Ken, by Toaster style comments, does this mean we can link to other comments with brackets [like so]?

[15] Yup.
