I come from, and have continued a long line of ice cream freaks that extends at least from my paternal great grandmother to my sons. Last week while we were down in the Ft. Lauderdale area visiting my snowbirding in-laws, they took us a famous old ice cream parlor called Jaxon's.
I'm very serious when I say it was (probably) the best ice cream I've ever had in my 45 years of ice cream indulgence. Not too heavy, but very creamy. Not too sugary, but so flavorful.
Amazing stuff.
I went with a scoop each of mint chocolate chip (my standby), and a vanilla Snickers blend. No toppings required by me. I'm a purist. The kids did sundaes. Rich in every sense- but well worth the caloric and financial splurge.
