The Royales with Cheese are in town for a three game series and they are an improved team.
Cliff has the series preview.
We kick back and cheer:
Let’s Go Yank-ees!
Ya mean, I can be first...and the game is on? Nice to see Melky, soft spot in the heart for him.
I saw Leche at a spring training game. He looked much thinner than he had been last year.
I looked at the KC blog after Melky saved a game with a great catch, and then had the walk off hit for the Royals win. The fans were complaining of his high salary and how they could do much better! High salary...I guess a few million goes a longer way in KC.
Well, he was kind of terrible last year. Talking Chop had a motto in his honor: "Make LOB, not WAR." Maybe that's what the Royals fans were reacting to.
He's only making $1 million this year. A third what he made last year.
Wouldja look at that. Two outs is not the idea moment for a triple, but still.
I like this shortstop.
Gardner and Jeter have really turned it on lately.
Ah, good for Melky
Melky really is much thinner than he was even in his Yankees days. (He was really overweight last year in Atlanta.)
I always had the feeling that Melky never really tried...until he was threatened with being sent down/not getting a big league contract.
Nice hit by Cano.
Like to see Swish drive some runs home here.
Okay, this "not scoring against Kyle Davies" thing is getting tiresome.
Melky still has some arm.
That really is a fabulous splitter Garcia sports.
Jesus, talk about falling off the table.
Wow, nice pitch.
Fuckin' A, Swish!
Holy guacamole. Nice play, Swish!
Damn, I missed whatever the Swisher play was. (Switched over to the Red Sox.)
Hard line drive, tailing away, diving, makes the catch, saves two runs.
Diving catch that saved a couple of runs. He flew through the air like Superman!
As soon as I saw how awful Davies was this year, I knew the Yankees had no shot
Ah, saw it on the mlb.com replay. Not bad. But thanks.
Close. Nice job, Brett.
First walk off Davies tonight.
Fucking hell, Derek!
Jon Lester does not look like his fearsome self this evening.
They're so absorbed in their boring stories that they've misidentified the batter twice this inning
Twice? I only caught the last one.
Ok, Teix, please...
SHORT swing...up the MIDDLE...=TWO RUNS...
See, I love Alex Rodriguez, and I am really wanting him to do something here, but with the way he's been swinging I'm not filled with confidence.
Flash called Granderson "Gardner" and Kay called Martin "Gardner."
C'MON ALEX, put a good swing on the ball.
Well, he has to break out of it sometime.
C'mon Alex, now he's got to give you a pitch...
Fuck, that was his pitch.
Dammit. I mean that's a fat pitch, man.
God, that was juicy-looking.
late, late, late
Damn, right on it.
Damn, he was on that...
Sneaked on through!!!
wait on it, wait on it, little bingo!
Very nice hitting, Alex.
Indeed, very nice job keeping the hands back.
Phew. Not cathartic, exactly, but a relief.
Cano's going to lace one here, after all that...
Man, did Alex ever need that.
Indeed. 2 runs equal 2 runs...
Rajai Davis tripled with one out. Then he attempted to steal home off Lester. But he stopped half way and they either caught him stealing or picked him off, depending on how you look at it.
It was... puzzling.
2 out rbi's will getcha into heaven. : )
Let's go Freddy, keep em down.
Granderson and Martin both grow prized tomatoes in the summer. Maybe they were referring to that?
Go Go Team!
He's on first base?
 I like to watch.
Maybe it was a Fielder's Choice?
Bautista goes yard off Lester. 4-4 game.
While riding in the car- "This is just like television, only you can see much further."
That was sickly.
Nice play. Fucking Bollocks!
Poor Po, that was an extra added strike out benefit.
Joe is just not good at plays.
No more plays, please.
And that's two very audible "shits" on TeeVee. You can count on Swish, but we'll excuse Tex as that ball off the thigh must have hurt a little.
There's another great quote I wanted to drop from Being There but it may violate Banter posting rules ;)
Curtis does a mean crow hop.
Ha! He really does, doesn't he? I was thinking the same thing, now that you mention it.
Wait a minute...just occurred to me...is Joba tired? Because he's the SIG, not Robertson!
Throw a fucking strike.
Weird...Joba getting warm now...
Man, Robertson got away with one on the 2-1 pitch.
Keeps challenging him...don't throw that pitch again...
Can you believe Being There was released more than 30 years ago?
way to drop a gem on him.
Good old Dave.
Go up the ladder...
Was that Flash's attempt at a pun? "This is good as it Getz for Dave Robertson"?
Evening. So, I missed 8 innings of Sunday's game... the most of a game I missed all season. So..... WHO WAS THAT YOUNG POWER HITTING SS WE GOT?
God, he's living dangerously...
Sit down son...oh and shut the fuck up.
Way to make it interesting. Bad call.
Nice work, Robertson...very, very nice work.
Clap clap clap.
Love D-Rob. He's the Any Inning Guy.
He's got a good argument. He didn't go.
Phew...Freddy still in line for the win! But, that was a home-team call on the check swing.
Looked like a check swing to me. Better to be lucky....
 Hehahaha! AIG. Nice.
Didn't go, but I'll take it.
Seriously, I'll take D-Rob in a tough situation over any one of our mortal pitchers. He seems to rise to the occasion.
Brett sure does look a lot.
Is Collins shorter than Dusty?
I'm just happy it wasn't Logan
 He likes to watch.
Collins has a funky wind-up!
Has he ever been with a man?
I only saw Being There in college, blew me away. Sellers was incredible
I read it in high school. I thought it was the most profound thing I'd ever read. Now it seems kind of pretentious.
The part of the movie I remember best is the outtakes. Esp. the one where Sellers is repeating, "You tell that asshole..."
Joba with the location!
No one's hitting that cheese.
Never read the book. The outtakes at the end are hysterical, when he says that line and then in his natural (British) accent, "Sorry, can we try that again?"
I guess the Royals can make a bullpen look good, but damn.
Sox had 1st and 2nd with nobody out, Youk up, Papi on deck...
Groundout, GIDP, inning over.
Hey, my first link fail on the new and improved Banter. Huzzah!
A Sox lose tonight would be nice. They're looking at .500.
Now now, boys...
They're looking at it from the wrong side, though.
That fact that they're already sniffing .500 after such a shittastic start is unfortunate. And annoying.
Compare the Rays, though. Started off just as bad, but they're en fuego.
Anyway, Mo time. Sh.
Mo vs. Frenchy is almost unfair.
 Damn you.
 Er..scratch that last comment.
Don't like it.
Make it stop.
Welcome to the realm of the gods, son!
Wow. He just swung through an 88mph cutter over the dish.
(And some of the balls were just bad calls.)
Welcome to the big leagues kid.
Mo got away with one there...
Ooooh, great swing on that 1-1.
That was fun.
Yanks better get a DP, Betemit is on deck to pinch hit
I spend far more time cursing you know who to worry about the Rays.
These days rarely end well for Mo
He does it all.
Hot Damn. Like a cat and sweet turn.
Yea! Called it!
Cano turning the DP:
Thanks be to Mo.
Nice of Alex to get Freddie's props in there.
Somehow he no longer seems like as much of a... I dunno. He's more of a normal person now.
The Landrover Drive of the game is a grounder?
Man, Mo's still got it. Like Astaire on that last play.
It's been said, he's the best fielder on the team.
Bard vs Bautista, feel the heat!
