Ya mean, I can be first...and the game is on? Nice to see Melky, soft spot in the heart for him.

2 randym77   ~  May 10, 2011 7:24 pm

[1] I saw Leche at a spring training game. He looked much thinner than he had been last year.

3 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 10, 2011 7:31 pm

[2]I looked at the KC blog after Melky saved a game with a great catch, and then had the walk off hit for the Royals win. The fans were complaining of his high salary and how they could do much better! High salary...I guess a few million goes a longer way in KC.

4 randym77   ~  May 10, 2011 7:47 pm

[3] Well, he was kind of terrible last year. Talking Chop had a motto in his honor: "Make LOB, not WAR." Maybe that's what the Royals fans were reacting to.

He's only making $1 million this year. A third what he made last year.

5 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 7:49 pm

Wouldja look at that. Two outs is not the idea moment for a triple, but still.

6 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 7:51 pm

I like this shortstop.

7 randym77   ~  May 10, 2011 7:52 pm

Gardner and Jeter have really turned it on lately.

8 The Hawk   ~  May 10, 2011 7:58 pm

Ah, good for Melky

9 randym77   ~  May 10, 2011 8:01 pm

Melky really is much thinner than he was even in his Yankees days. (He was really overweight last year in Atlanta.)

I always had the feeling that Melky never really tried...until he was threatened with being sent down/not getting a big league contract.

10 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:09 pm

9) Agreed.

Nice hit by Cano.

11 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:10 pm

Like to see Swish drive some runs home here.

12 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 8:12 pm

Okay, this "not scoring against Kyle Davies" thing is getting tiresome.

13 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:13 pm

Melky still has some arm.

14 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:19 pm

That really is a fabulous splitter Garcia sports.

15 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:22 pm

Jesus, talk about falling off the table.

16 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:24 pm

Wow, nice pitch.

17 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:26 pm

Fuckin' A, Swish!

Damn!

18 randym77   ~  May 10, 2011 8:26 pm

Holy guacamole. Nice play, Swish!

19 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 8:28 pm

Damn, I missed whatever the Swisher play was. (Switched over to the Red Sox.)

20 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:29 pm

[19] Hard line drive, tailing away, diving, makes the catch, saves two runs.

21 randym77   ~  May 10, 2011 8:30 pm

[19] Diving catch that saved a couple of runs. He flew through the air like Superman!

22 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 8:30 pm

As soon as I saw how awful Davies was this year, I knew the Yankees had no shot

23 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 8:30 pm

Ah, saw it on the mlb.com replay. Not bad. But [20] thanks.

24 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:32 pm

Close. Nice job, Brett.

25 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 8:32 pm

First walk off Davies tonight.

26 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 8:33 pm

38

27 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:33 pm

Fucking hell, Derek!

Goddamn!

28 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 8:34 pm

Jon Lester does not look like his fearsome self this evening.

29 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 8:35 pm

They're so absorbed in their boring stories that they've misidentified the batter twice this inning

30 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:35 pm

[29] Twice? I only caught the last one.

31 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:37 pm

Ok, Teix, please...

SHORT swing...up the MIDDLE...=TWO RUNS...

32 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:37 pm

C'mon Teix

33 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:38 pm

"Oww, shit!"

34 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:39 pm

See, I love Alex Rodriguez, and I am really wanting him to do something here, but with the way he's been swinging I'm not filled with confidence.

35 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 8:39 pm

[30] Flash called Granderson "Gardner" and Kay called Martin "Gardner."

36 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:39 pm

C'MON ALEX, put a good swing on the ball.

37 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 8:40 pm

[34] Well, he has to break out of it sometime.

38 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:40 pm

2-0...

39 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:40 pm

C'mon Alex, now he's got to give you a pitch...

40 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:41 pm

Fuck, that was his pitch.

41 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:41 pm

Dammit. I mean that's a fat pitch, man.

42 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:41 pm

God, that was juicy-looking.

43 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:41 pm

late, late, late

44 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:42 pm

Damn, right on it.

45 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:42 pm

Damn, he was on that...

46 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:43 pm

Great job!

47 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:43 pm

YYAAAAYYYY!!!

Sneaked on through!!!

48 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:43 pm

wait on it, wait on it, little bingo!

49 randym77   ~  May 10, 2011 8:43 pm

Pastadiving. :-)

50 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:43 pm

Very nice hitting, Alex.

Indeed, very nice job keeping the hands back.

Well done.

51 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 8:44 pm

Phew. Not cathartic, exactly, but a relief.

52 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:44 pm

Cano's going to lace one here, after all that...

53 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:44 pm

Man, did Alex ever need that.

54 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:44 pm

[51] Indeed. 2 runs equal 2 runs...

55 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 8:45 pm

Meanwhile...

Rajai Davis tripled with one out. Then he attempted to steal home off Lester. But he stopped half way and they either caught him stealing or picked him off, depending on how you look at it.
It was... puzzling.

56 Just Fair   ~  May 10, 2011 8:45 pm

2 out rbi's will getcha into heaven. : )

57 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 8:49 pm

Let's go Freddy, keep em down.

58 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 10, 2011 8:51 pm

[35] Granderson and Martin both grow prized tomatoes in the summer. Maybe they were referring to that?

59 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 10, 2011 8:54 pm

[58]Chauncey Gardner?

Go Go Team!

60 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 8:55 pm

He's on first base?

61 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 8:55 pm

[59] I like to watch.

62 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 8:56 pm

[60] :-)
Maybe it was a Fielder's Choice?

63 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 8:58 pm

Bautista goes yard off Lester. 4-4 game.

64 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 10, 2011 9:00 pm

While riding in the car- "This is just like television, only you can see much further."

65 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:01 pm

Jesus.

That was sickly.

66 Just Fair   ~  May 10, 2011 9:01 pm

Nice play. Fucking Bollocks!

67 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 10, 2011 9:01 pm

Poor Po, that was an extra added strike out benefit.

68 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 9:03 pm

Plays.
Joe is just not good at plays.
No more plays, please.

69 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 10, 2011 9:04 pm

And that's two very audible "shits" on TeeVee. You can count on Swish, but we'll excuse Tex as that ball off the thigh must have hurt a little.

70 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 10, 2011 9:05 pm

[64] There's another great quote I wanted to drop from Being There but it may violate Banter posting rules ;)

71 Just Fair   ~  May 10, 2011 9:16 pm

Curtis does a mean crow hop.

72 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:18 pm

[71] Ha! He really does, doesn't he? I was thinking the same thing, now that you mention it.

73 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:20 pm

Wait a minute...just occurred to me...is Joba tired? Because he's the SIG, not Robertson!

74 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 9:20 pm

Throw a fucking strike.

75 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:21 pm

Weird...Joba getting warm now...

76 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 9:21 pm

Man, Robertson got away with one on the 2-1 pitch.

77 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:22 pm

Keeps challenging him...don't throw that pitch again...

78 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 10, 2011 9:22 pm

[70] Can you believe Being There was released more than 30 years ago?

79 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:22 pm

Pfew!

Nice.

80 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 9:22 pm

way to drop a gem on him.

81 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 9:23 pm

Good old Dave.

82 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:24 pm

Fuck, 97?

83 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:25 pm

Go up the ladder...

84 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 10, 2011 9:26 pm

Was that Flash's attempt at a pun? "This is good as it Getz for Dave Robertson"?

85 OldYanksFan   ~  May 10, 2011 9:26 pm

Evening. So, I missed 8 innings of Sunday's game... the most of a game I missed all season. So..... WHO WAS THAT YOUNG POWER HITTING SS WE GOT?

86 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:26 pm

God, he's living dangerously...

87 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 9:27 pm

Sit down son...oh and shut the fuck up.

88 Just Fair   ~  May 10, 2011 9:27 pm

Way to make it interesting. Bad call.

89 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:27 pm

*standing ovation*

Nice work, Robertson...very, very nice work.

90 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 9:27 pm

Yay Dave!
Clap clap clap.
Love D-Rob. He's the Any Inning Guy.

91 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 9:27 pm

He's got a good argument. He didn't go.

92 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 10, 2011 9:28 pm

Phew...Freddy still in line for the win! But, that was a home-team call on the check swing.

93 OldYanksFan   ~  May 10, 2011 9:28 pm

Looked like a check swing to me. Better to be lucky....

94 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:28 pm

[90] Hehahaha! AIG. Nice.

95 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 9:30 pm

Didn't go, but I'll take it.

96 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 9:31 pm

[94] Seriously, I'll take D-Rob in a tough situation over any one of our mortal pitchers. He seems to rise to the occasion.

97 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:32 pm

Brett sure does look a lot.

98 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:32 pm

[96] *nodding*

99 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 9:32 pm

Is Collins shorter than Dusty?

100 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 9:33 pm

[96] I'm just happy it wasn't Logan

[97] He likes to watch.

102 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 10, 2011 9:34 pm

Collins has a funky wind-up!

103 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 10, 2011 9:35 pm

[101] Has he ever been with a man?

I only saw Being There in college, blew me away. Sellers was incredible

104 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 9:38 pm

[103] I read it in high school. I thought it was the most profound thing I'd ever read. Now it seems kind of pretentious.

The part of the movie I remember best is the outtakes. Esp. the one where Sellers is repeating, "You tell that asshole..."

105 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:40 pm

Wow.

Joba with the location!

Sick shit!

106 Just Fair   ~  May 10, 2011 9:40 pm

No one's hitting that cheese.

107 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 10, 2011 9:41 pm

[104] Never read the book. The outtakes at the end are hysterical, when he says that line and then in his natural (British) accent, "Sorry, can we try that again?"

108 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 9:41 pm

Holy cow.
I guess the Royals can make a bullpen look good, but damn.

109 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 9:43 pm

Sox had 1st and 2nd with nobody out, Youk up, Papi on deck...
Groundout, GIDP, inning over.

110 Just Fair   ~  May 10, 2011 9:46 pm

[109[ Ha!

111 Just Fair   ~  May 10, 2011 9:47 pm

[110] Hey, my first link fail on the new and improved Banter. Huzzah!

112 OldYanksFan   ~  May 10, 2011 9:48 pm

A Sox lose tonight would be nice. They're looking at .500.

113 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:49 pm

Now now, boys...

114 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 9:51 pm

[112] They're looking at it from the wrong side, though.

115 Just Fair   ~  May 10, 2011 9:53 pm

That fact that they're already sniffing .500 after such a shittastic start is unfortunate. And annoying.

116 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 9:54 pm

[115] Compare the Rays, though. Started off just as bad, but they're en fuego.

Anyway, Mo time. Sh.

117 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 10, 2011 9:56 pm

Mo vs. Frenchy is almost unfair.

118 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 9:56 pm

ugh.

119 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 9:57 pm

[117] Damn you.

120 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 10, 2011 9:57 pm

[117] Er..scratch that last comment.

121 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 9:58 pm

Don't like it.
Make it stop.

122 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 10, 2011 9:59 pm

Welcome to the realm of the gods, son!

123 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 9:59 pm

Wow. He just swung through an 88mph cutter over the dish.

124 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 9:59 pm

Sigh.
That's better.
(And some of the balls were just bad calls.)

125 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 9:59 pm

Welcome to the big leagues kid.

126 OldYanksFan   ~  May 10, 2011 9:59 pm

Mo got away with one there...

127 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 10:00 pm

Ooooh, great swing on that 1-1.

That was fun.

128 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 10, 2011 10:00 pm

Yanks better get a DP, Betemit is on deck to pinch hit

129 Just Fair   ~  May 10, 2011 10:00 pm

[116] I spend far more time cursing you know who to worry about the Rays.
C'mon Mo!

130 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 10:01 pm

These days rarely end well for Mo

131 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 10:01 pm

Or not.

132 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 10:01 pm

Holy fuck.

He does it all.

133 Just Fair   ~  May 10, 2011 10:01 pm

Hot Damn. Like a cat and sweet turn.
All Rise.

134 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 10, 2011 10:02 pm

Yea! Called it!

135 OldYanksFan   ~  May 10, 2011 10:02 pm

Cano turning the DP:
AMAZING!!!!!!!

136 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 10:02 pm

Thanks be to Mo.

137 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 10, 2011 10:04 pm

Nice of Alex to get Freddie's props in there.

138 RIYank   ~  May 10, 2011 10:06 pm

[137] Somehow he no longer seems like as much of a... I dunno. He's more of a normal person now.

139 Mattpat11   ~  May 10, 2011 10:07 pm

The Landrover Drive of the game is a grounder?

140 Alex Belth   ~  May 10, 2011 10:14 pm

Man, Mo's still got it. Like Astaire on that last play.

141 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 10, 2011 10:17 pm
