This couldn't have come yesterday? What, did it get caught in traffic on the way over? (although getting across the bridge on a weekday during rush hour can be a bit of a nightmare...)

2 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 9, 2011 8:17 pm

It's pouring up here in the BX.

3 randym77   ~  Jun 9, 2011 8:45 pm

Will the game be played?

Any time estimate?

4 Chyll Will   ~  Jun 9, 2011 8:48 pm

Pedroia out with a bruised knee... that's awfully generous of them. Or is that to say AJ's command yesterday was so off they had to drill one of their own on his behalf?

5 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 9, 2011 9:03 pm

I'm thinking they'll get it in. Maybe by 9:30-45

6 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2011 9:12 pm

[5] Nice, that will take me through till the afternoon. In the middle of the 梅雨 (Plum Rains "rainy season") here, grey skies, swletering humidity. I need some CC love ot kickstart the weekend!!

7 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 9, 2011 9:55 pm

From lohud:
Tarp coming off the field (first pitch scheduled for 10:30)

8 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:01 pm

Yup, half an hour...

9 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:20 pm

[7] 10:30? Yayy! Afternoon baseball ahoy here, should be a lonley game thread but Mr. OK Jazz will try to represent!

10 randym77   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:27 pm

Not raining at all in my part of NY, so I was surprised the game was delayed. I was searching for it on TV, wondering why "Access Hollywood" and soccer were on instead of baseball.

11 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:40 pm

Wow. A scoreless 1st for the bad guys.

12 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:40 pm

FUCKING Brains ...

13 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:44 pm

Beckett hitting Jeter is unacceptable!

14 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:46 pm

How Grand!

15 randym77   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:46 pm

Grandy took care of it.

17 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:46 pm

CURTIS!!! Gigantic middle-finger to the Grinch!!

18 mhoward120   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:50 pm

If CC doesn't hit that fat sack of shit, he should be pantsed on the mound!

19 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:50 pm

First of all, fuck Fuckett.

Second of all, I can't believe they're starting a game at nearly 11 o'clock.

Did they used to do this? Wasn't there a curfew, once upon a time?

20 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:53 pm

No, it's fucking arrogance.

21 mhoward120   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:56 pm

HIT THE FAT FUCK

22 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:56 pm

Fat fuck!

23 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:57 pm

SIT THE FUCK DOWN, YOU FAT FUCK!

24 mhoward120   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:57 pm

Still shoulda hit him in his fat fuckin head

25 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:57 pm

Sit ya ass down, Papi.

26 mhoward120   ~  Jun 9, 2011 10:59 pm

CC should hit that fat fuck while he's in the dugout now!

27 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:01 pm

Omg, that's right, George Foster did use a black bat!

28 randym77   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:02 pm

[18] I really, really don't want to see that.

29 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:04 pm

[28] He'd be arrested for holding 50 lbs of crack.

30 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:06 pm

Besides having a two run lead, and the top gun on the mound, this night just feels better. Last night was a miserable experience.

31 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:17 pm

Fuck, that Cano is good.

32 Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:17 pm

Nobody. Can do it. Like Robinson Cano can do it.

33 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:21 pm

Nicely done boys, nicely done.

36 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:24 pm

What the FUCK was that?

Jesus Christ.

37 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:25 pm

The time to bunt was against Schilling, Derek!

38 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:25 pm

[35] You mean when he's not spasmodically hacking at pitches outside of the zone?

39 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:26 pm

[37] Sigh.

Indeed.

Indeed.

40 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:28 pm

41 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:32 pm

C'mon CentWAR!

44 Diane Firstman   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:34 pm

Got to the park at 6:40 ... light drizzle .. then it started pouring .... no announcement ... nothing .... we went home at 8:25.

Have they offered those with tickets for the game another game to make up for this?

45 Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:34 pm

And so it goes. Man up CC!

46 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:35 pm

MOTHERFUCKER!

This shit has to STOP!!!!

For a decade now!

47 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:35 pm

[44] I belive so, yes.

48 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:35 pm

GODDAMNFUCKINGCANO ... JEBUS.

49 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:35 pm

Not a great AB by Cano. But this is ridiculous, someone has to get plunked for Boston now!

50 mhoward120   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:36 pm

Now if CC doesn't hit someone, the vendors should punch out Girardi

51 Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:39 pm

Sweet change.

52 Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:41 pm

If every baseball player was as ugly as Youklis I would quit watching.
Now drill Ortiz. Please.

53 mhoward120   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:41 pm

64 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:47 pm

65 thelarmis   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:47 pm

man, i wish i could see this game live on tv...

what was the fat fuck hbp like? i hope it was a triple digit fastball in the ribs, even though there's 100 layers of blubber before his ribs. fucking cockbag.

66 thelarmis   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:48 pm

[64] because you're there!!! ; )

ps - i might see you soon...

67 thelarmis   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:48 pm

holy crap, these fucking scumsucking shitbags hit both jeter AND a-rod tonite??? i think bud should contract these classless fuckfaces.

68 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:49 pm

Nicely done by CC, no harm giving the message.

But Beckett's Arod plunking took off his belt, hit Veritek off the top of the head, then clipped the umpire in the face. Hopefully Wendelstedt will give Beckett no quarter.

69 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:49 pm

[65] cockbag? :)

70 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:50 pm

[66] Keep me updated, I'd love to see a show.

Though, today's sad Joba news made me think about watching his MLB debut with you in that bar in ATL ...

71 Just Fair   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:52 pm

Steal home, Jorgie!

72 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:54 pm

In other news...the Mavs beat the Heat going away.

73 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:55 pm

[72] Am sure am in the minority but I really want the Heat to win..

Hope they don't let Beckett get into a groove..

74 thelarmis   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:55 pm

[69] it's been a long coupla weeks... : )

75 thelarmis   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:56 pm

ooh, jorgies' at .199!!!

77 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:58 pm

[73] FUCK Miami ... I'm not even a Knicks fan anymore, really ... but that's like being a Yankees fan and rooting for the Red Sox.

Never.

78 thelarmis   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:59 pm

[70] ah, fuck the show. i'd rather just hang out again and go grab a beer afterwards. : )

what's closer for you: woodland hills or costa mesa?

79 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 9, 2011 11:59 pm

[77] Explain?

80 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:01 am

[78] Woodland Hills, I think.

Whatever you prefer ...

81 Just Fair   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:01 am

Fuck Miami, indeed. If you weren't born in Miami you shouldn't root for the heat in this series. And I HATE Dallas. Anything in Texas, really.

82 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:02 am

[79] Which part?

83 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:02 am

[80] we'll see how it plays out. i have NO clue how this is gonna go. i'll gauge it and get in touch, my friend...

84 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:05 am

[83] Let me know, it would be good to hang out and catch up!

=)

85 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:05 am

The bloom is off the rose. I dub thee...Sir Smelly.

86 Just Fair   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:10 am

If Beckett fell dow in a heap on the mound I would not shed a tear.

87 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:11 am

[82] How is rooting for the Heat ANYTHING like being a Yankees fan and rooting for the Sox? That makes no sense to me.

[81] Why? I have no comprehension of why the Heat are so hated by people. Free agents are "free" to play where they like. What could possibly be wrong with choosing to go play with your friends on a team contending for a championship?

And, I will never, ever root for anything from Texas.

88 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:11 am

jesus motherfucking christ! enough with the hit batsmen. fuckett and lester are supoosed to be control freaks, esp the former. this is total fucking bollocks!

man, i wish shelley duncan were in the dugout. or farnsey...

89 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:11 am

[86] hell, i'd crack open a beer!

90 Just Fair   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:12 am

HorseShit!

91 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:12 am

Jazz - dude, Roy Haynes was on Letterman last nite!!! dave was having "drum solo week". who knew? my brother emailed me, 'coz Neil Peart from Rush is on it tonight (i guess in a few minutes...)

Roy's the last living jazz drumming legend. pretty special!

92 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:13 am

[91] No way! Amazing, I will have to find it online. Don't forget Jimmy Cobb though, isn't he still alive?

93 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:17 am

haha, fuck you, you ugly fucking douchelord!

94 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:18 am

[92] yeah. charlie persip is still alive, too. grady tate might be as well, though i don't think so. but, man, they're not in the stratosphere that Roy is. he's Jazz ROYalty!

95 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:20 am

[38] Yes, of course. That part exasperates to distraction.

96 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:21 am

i hate josh fuckett.

97 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:21 am

[87] i kinda agree with you about rooting for anything from Texas, but Nowitski and Kidd are great veterans who deserve the title.

And what about liking Janis Joplin, Willie Nelson, Ben Kweller, Alex Chilton, and hundreds of others..all from Texas.

98 Just Fair   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:21 am

Long run for Swisher, Kay. Really? boooooooooooo
[87] I have irrational disdain for Miami AND Cleveland. So if you screw one to benefit the other it's fucked. Simple really. And Lebron staying in his home state to bring an NBA championship to a Champion starved city is a better story than some spoiled ass running off to get even more ridiculously rich in neon town to build sand castles with his other rich buddies. Fuck Lebron and Miami. /rant

99 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:22 am

[94]Oooh, nice John Sterlingism there! He is indeed jazz ROYalty!

100 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:25 am

[87] Uh, HUH?

The New York Yankees play in MLB's AL East and are rivals with the Boston Red Sox.

The New York Knicks play in the NBA's Eastern Conference and are rivals with the Miami Heat.

This isn't fucking rocket science.

Ya know?

[100] I no longer root for the Knicks.

[98] LeBron doesn't owe ANYthing to Cleveland or anyone in Ohio. Why is everyone in American free to take better jobs for money and lifestyle EXCEPT athletes?

[97] Yes, I should excepted all the great musicians from there.

123 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:51 am

My dad died a month and a half ago. Sorry I haven't been around this season. I hate this fucking team.

Why do they have to suck like this during this summer.

Do you dream of having an above-average short stop like I do? Could Jeter's last two double plays have been more soul-crushing? Didn't you love the one that came first pitch swinging off a pitcher who was ready to go?

How is Varitek functional? Does this year suck or what?

Thanks. Jorge, for continuing to play the game the right way. I love it when you stand at home and get called out.

Why hasn't someone put a ball in Ortiz' brain?

FUCK THIS TEAM

124 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:52 am

I don't even now how things came undone and I don't care.

This is a fucking disgrace.

A seven-run seventh in a game that was delayed three hours as the Yankees scramble to not get swept with their ace on the mound.

My god.

131 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:55 am

[123] Cosmic hugs and prayers to you and yours, jjmerlock.

Huge middle-finger to Beckett, the Sox and the whole Yankee team for being ass-whipped like this..awful performance, they should all be ashamed.

132 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:56 am

[123] sooo sorry, man. best to you and yours.

133 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:57 am

Thanks, [128].

Surprisingly (eye roll) it just doesn't lessen my rage watching this team roll over for treats against that fucking team.

My dad always hated how much I hate everything Boston. He made his bones at the Joslin Clinic.

Sorry, Dad. I hate hate hate those fuckers. I just can't help it.

134 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:58 am

cc charged with 6 of those runs.

insult to injury having fuckett out there still.

i imagine we'll go weakly and meekly into the night. should be smooth sailing for the shit sox from here on in...

135 Matt Blankman   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:58 am

This team really sucks right now. Given the pitching situation, it's going to be tough to get it together - it's imperative they stay close to the Sox or the season will get away from them fast. They may need a bold mid-season move to keep it interesting.

136 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:59 am

and there's the 1st easy out.

frankie and jeter should be out on the next 2 pitches...

137 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 10, 2011 12:59 am

Thanks, guys. I wish they would declare this season over. Because otherwise, it is sort of nice that it's summer.

139 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:01 am

Nice at bat, Frankie.

I know he's hit the sox, but man, it is just not ever confidence-inducing to see him up at the plate.

140 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:01 am

lohud said that fat fuck did the rangers "claw" one of the times he got on base last inning. is that right? somebody needs to put a hurtin' on that fucker real bad. god, i wish it was him who retired and not Manny...

141 Matt Blankman   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:02 am

[137] My condolences on your loss, as well, man, that's tough stuff.

You know, I can stand watching them not be great - I've had great summers watching them fall short or just be flat-out bad - but this team is built to win and watching great players look old and feeble is just no fun.

142 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:02 am

[135] It's already getting away. Swept at home and slapped around, Beckett hits THREE Yankees and CC plunks Ortiz once on his big ass..it's an outrage.

143 Matt Blankman   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:03 am

[140] Enough with this whole idea of trying to hurt the bastard - lets just get him OUT.

[142] Two games out in mid-June is not "season is over" territory. Yes, this sweep is humiliating, but it doesn't mean all that much if they can get their asses in gear.

Thanks, [141]. Am I crazy, or is it time to bring up some of the kids? This team needs a shot of something, guys are playing with chronic head-up-the-ass-itis (see: Gardner, standing like a stronzo on third base), everyone's hurt... I mean, why the fuck not?

I'm just so irritated with the lot of them. They are not fun this year, at all. Maybe if they had Kei Igawa run some laps while the game is live, that could be entertaining. At lest they could get some value on the dollar that way.

Oh, lovely ... Jeff fucking Marquez ...

Sigh.

147 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:07 am

Ha ha ha, that is the most preposterous haircut.

148 Matt Blankman   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:07 am

[145] Maybe if fans could throw pies and water balloons at him while he ran to maximize the entertainment level.

As for the kids, who would be worth bringing up? Although I don't see why Montero can't get some playing time.

149 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:09 am

[148] Montero, Betances. And then I'm dreaming there's someone with some pep down there, but I have no idea who that would be. Gardner is probably the most irritating of them all right now. Or maybe Jeter. There was a ball up the middle a few nights ago that was so fucking sad.

[146] heh. your new Teh 8th inning guy!

151 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:12 am

[148] Montero has picked the *worst* possible time to suck the suckiest suck of sucking suckistan.

SUCK!!!

152 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:13 am

[151] SUCK,

153 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:14 am

2,990 is a lot of hits.

154 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:15 am

And a mind-numbingly stupid question for the mind-numbingly stupid "take on russ."

155 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:16 am

[151] Somehow it doesn't lessen my enthusiasm for bringing him up. Cervelli is fucking useless.

156 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:18 am

unfortunately, i'm not at all surprised we're going to get swept at home by these fucking scumsuckers.

157 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:19 am

CC has a terrible habit, btw, of really losing it when he loses it against the Sox. Bad things always seem to happen when he starts to labor and is above the 100 pitch count. I blame it on him being fat. He does not seem to be able to power through against these assholes. I've seen this show with CC against the Sox too many times already.

158 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:20 am

[156] How much does it suck that you probably, like me, were just dreading this series?

I wish I could look forward to playing them, but I dread it now. That is brutal.

159 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:21 am

Alright ... fuck this suck.

Later.

160 jjmerlock   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:22 am

Yeah, I'm done for the night. Nice to see you all again. I don't see anything good happening down the road this season, but maybe baseball can hit us with a pleasant dose of unpredictability.

161 Matt Blankman   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:27 am

Let's not forget, everyone was burying them around this time in 2009, too. That team was a monster in the 2nd half. It's not likely, but you never know...

162 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:28 am

oh, of course.

i mean, why not?

163 Bobtaco   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:36 am

Save that ball for Posada

164 thelarmis   ~  Jun 10, 2011 1:38 am

jorgie breakin' the barrier!

Jeter with the ground out! Only a few hundred more chances to see that this season! :(
