I would call it an NL lineup, but the NL only has one pitcher.

Can we call up Montero now?

2 monkeypants   ~  Jun 15, 2011 6:39 pm

Wow, that is the most awesomely awesome lineup I could ever imagine. The Chessmaster™ has outdone himself this time.

[2] Give Coffee Joe an inch, he'll take a mile ...

*Girardi said that Brian Gordon will be added to the pitching staff tomorrow, but he wasn’t ready to name the 32-year-old righty – who opted out with the Phillies after being with their Triple-A Lehigh Valley team – as the starter in the series finale. He said it will be Gordon or Hector Noesi. He wants to get through tonight’s game first. He also said that he doesn’t just consister Noesi a long man, that he’s willing to use him in the middle innings as well.

I LOVE how often this team is willing to give the PAST a chance ...

GOD FORBID we give someone with anything resembling UPSIDE a chance ...

5 monkeypants   ~  Jun 15, 2011 6:55 pm

[4] Come on, man, get with the program. You have to take it r-e-a-l s-l-o-w 'n easy with young upsiders. You don't want to increase the chance of injury or something.

[5] This management team gives me a bad case of the STABBIES ...

7 a.O   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:09 pm

[4] I'm with you on that. Noesi deserves a shot.

8 monkeypants   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:11 pm

[6] Yeah. I often alternate between being really bored and fairly infuriated with the decision-making.

9 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:12 pm

Dear Frankie,

The CF is NOT the one receiving the throw at 2nd.

10 a.O   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:13 pm

And I think Joe is at least partly responsible for the Martin situation by overusing him so far this year. I know the BUC sucks, but you can't catch a guy that much and still expect strong performance on both sides. Maybe they should DL Martin so he can have a decent 2nd half and give Jesus his shot (after his eye, etc improves).

11 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:18 pm

Well, I suppose that could have been worse.

Fuck.

12 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:20 pm

Whoa, I miss ten minutes and look what happens.
[11] That could be Ivan Nova's new motto.

Look at that line-up.
Apparently the Chessmaster likes pawns.

[12] =)

14 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:23 pm

I guess that was a good thing. Curtis seems fine.

15 rbj   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:23 pm

So maybe Ivan got his bad inning out of the way early.

16 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:24 pm

CRUSHED!

TESH!!!

17 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:24 pm

Fuck yes.

I was just going to say, "We need Curtis on base, otherwise it won't be a 2-run homer."
Really.

18 rbj   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:25 pm

Alrighty then.

TESH! ... A-HAH!! ... HE'LL SAVE EVERY ONE OF US!!!

20 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:26 pm

Hm, so maybe against a lefty pitcher, a pitch down and in to Teixeira is a home run pitch, just the way they say most lefty batters like to crush a ball that's down and in?

21 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:26 pm

(Of course, I meant against Teix when he's batting righty.)

Sincerely,

Yikes ... JUST in there.

29 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:32 pm

Thelarmis would love this half inning. Is he on his tour already?

Oh, damn, so the double steal was worthless. Typical A-Rod.

30 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:33 pm

[27] A walk will do ...

Alright, Nunez,

Oh.

No.

Fuck.

31 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:33 pm

Oh fer...

Well, can't really hold that against Nunez. He swatted it okay.

32 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:42 pm

46 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:56 pm

Boink.

I guess the second inning was the aberration.

47 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:58 pm

Goddam.
This inning sucks.

48 Marek   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:59 pm

[45] I just said the same thing.

49 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 15, 2011 7:59 pm

Robbie had plenty of time to set and throw.

50 rbj   ~  Jun 15, 2011 8:03 pm

53 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2011 8:22 pm

[52] Yeah, I'm only watching the Yankees with one eye now. And less than half a brain.

Wait, that didn't come out right.

54 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2011 8:29 pm

What????
Oh sure, now. Not when the base are loaded in the first...

55 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 15, 2011 8:29 pm

[53] Without the Jeter countdown and with this bizarre stubbornness to use castoffs and never will bes over potentially exciting players, this is just a boring mid June game.

What I miss so far, anyone for an update please?

58 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2011 8:40 pm

[57] Nova kind of stinks. Teixeira two run bomb. Nunez birthday solo homer.

Kind of ho-hum.

Kazmir is DONE.

Which isn't to say they won't kick the tires, or even sign him to a MiL deal, but his arm (or, more likely, his shoulder) is beyond toast.
