Alright, I'm staying up late to watch the beginning of this one. A Jeter hit on the first AB, and I'll stick around longer.

Let's go team!

Yeah, I'm feeling good about staying up late for this.

3 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:17 pm

That could have been worse.

[5][6] Phew...I thought I was alone.

What the heck kind of defense is that? If Teix could bunt he'd have an easy RBI.

8 RIYank   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:23 pm

[7] True, but then I would have to wonder whether he would ever again get the ball out of the infield.

[17] Maybe his B is good enough.

I hope Jeter gets it over with tonight...

24 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:44 pm

If it weren't for bad luck...

25 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:47 pm

Oh, Jorge ... you are SO slow.

26 RIYank   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:47 pm

Way to go, Wheels!

27 rbj   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:47 pm

Ok, Yankees have to score here.

28 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:48 pm

Oh thank God, I thought for sure Po' would try to score on that.

OK, Jeter, it's up to you.

32 RIYank   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:50 pm

Jetes will walk, just watch.

33 RagingTartabull   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:50 pm

DO IT

34 RIYank   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:50 pm

Nope.
Holy crap, that sucked.

35 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:51 pm

Or not.

36 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:52 pm

Jetes missed a grooved pitch. Oh well...

37 rbj   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:52 pm

Lead off double, on third with one out, no score.
Next inning, second & third with one out, no score.
How often does that happen, for a good team.

38 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:54 pm

Uh oh, it's BAD BARTOLO ...

39 randym77   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:54 pm

Come back, Ivan Nova. All is forgiven.

MLB.com is having live look-ins on Jeter's at-bats.

Noesi! Noesi! Noesi!

44 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 7:59 pm

KAy: "This is not vintage Bartolo Colon.."

Well, that all depends on the vintage. 2011? Not so much. 2006 or 2006? Maybe.

45 Shaun P.   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:00 pm

[42] Good to know - thanks!

[41] To be DFA'd! To be DFA'd! To be DFA'd!

46 RagingTartabull   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:02 pm

the fact that Maddon is growing his hair out somehow makes me hate him even more

47 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:08 pm

Meh.

48 rbj   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:14 pm

Maybe we'll get to see Krazy Kyle this series, and feast off of him.

49 Shaun P.   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:14 pm

[46] I actually have a hard time hating either Maddon or the Rays. The Yanks beat up on them so badly for so long, I just can't muster the emotions. In 2008, the Yanks were not good anyway, and in 2010, the Rangers were the Yanks' real problem.

50 rbj   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:15 pm

[43] You may be getting your wish.

51 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:16 pm

[49] Yeah, I don't hate the Rays and frankly, not only do I not hate Maddon, I wouldn't mind having him as our manager.

52 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:16 pm

[49] Maddon's personality grates on me a little. Aside from that, I love when he and Girardi lock horns in a classic Chessmatch™,

53 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:16 pm

[50] Obviously, THE BINDER, told Coffee Joe not to use Noesi in an obvious situation last night, because he was going to be needed tonite!

54 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:22 pm

[53] Aha, no wonder he such a great Chessmaster™---Girardi has access to information from the future. He is literally many moves ahead of everyone.

55 Shaun P.   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:23 pm

Is this Colon's first really bad start? Isn't even that bad, yet.

56 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:24 pm

Pretty good pitch, Swish.

57 rbj   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:25 pm

Not even warning track, Kay.

58 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:25 pm

DRIVEN. DEEP.

59 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:25 pm

oh, it's caught short of the track ...

I HATE YOU MICHAEL KAY.

60 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:26 pm

[55] Nah, he's had a few stinkers this season.

61 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:28 pm

[55] It is now.

Noesi! Noesi! Noesi!

62 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:29 pm

Driven...deep...

63 rbj   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:29 pm

Now that was "deep", Michael.

I hope Derek doesn't get to 3000 tonight, as it looks like it will be a loss.

64 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:29 pm

Jesus Christ Girardi, get Noesi up and get Fat Bastard OUT OF THERE.

65 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:30 pm

Michael Kay, please shut up.

Just say no to BJ Upton.

66 monkeypants   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:39 pm

Nice play, dammit.

67 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:42 pm

I've got a feeling this game isn't ending in a win ...

68 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:43 pm

Colon listed as 5ft11 265lbs on MLB.com. That is round.

69 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:49 pm

Lovely, lovely!

70 Shaun P.   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:58 pm

Without some kind of rally here, I think Jeter gets only one more PA tonight.

71 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 8:58 pm

DRIVEN!

THIS TIME FOR REALS!

79 Shaun P.   ~  Jul 7, 2011 9:32 pm

So we're looking at tomorrow or Saturday.

82 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 7, 2011 9:35 pm

C'mon Alex, jack one already.

83 Shaun P.   ~  Jul 7, 2011 9:36 pm

[81] Yep. Could be Sunday too, though I kind of doubt it. Man's on a mission. He laced a double in his first PA, and I thought for sure he'd do it tonight, but no such luck.

84 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 7, 2011 9:36 pm

fuck.

85 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 9:36 pm

Oh, Alex.

That was fucking pathetic.

86 Shaun P.   ~  Jul 7, 2011 9:42 pm

OK, Farnsworth still lingers in the TB bullpen. This game is not over yet!!

Hope it turns out with a win, but I'm off to drive home now, so I'll see ya all tomorrow.

87 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 7, 2011 9:45 pm

85) Man, his body just looks tired this past week.

88 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 7, 2011 9:55 pm

Just saw that Dick Williams died..he seemed like one of those hard-ass old-skool managers that were part of my baseball youth.

Fuckin Farmadouche

90 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 10:03 pm

91 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 7, 2011 10:05 pm

BRILLIANT!

Oh, Gritner, you're so SMRT!
