Watching the Women's World Cup. Fucking refs are trying to give the game to Brazil. Two red cards to the US, and a redo on the penalty kick? Utter bullshit.

Wha, huh? There's a game today? I thought the season ended yesterday >;)

3 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 1:34 pm

[1] Only one red card. But yeah, it's an awful job by the officials. (Also missed the offside player on Brazil's Extra Time goal.)

[1] What's a World Cup?

; )

5 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 1:41 pm

What injury to Nick Swisher?

6 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 1:48 pm

[5] Quad. Not very serious.

Hey, D-Rob is on the All Star team! Replacing David Price.

7 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 1:51 pm

Oh Jesus Christ, ow!

8 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 1:51 pm

Please someone coach players not to slide into 1B.

9 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 1:52 pm

[6] In the game yesterday, I assume?

10 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 1:53 pm

That was an amazing play.

He almost had him.

Not a bad bunt, either.

11 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 1:53 pm

OK, now Jeter is just showing off.

12 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 1:55 pm

[11] Heehee.

13 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 1:56 pm

No, it is NOT easier said than done.

I mean, yes, literally, it is, but it's really not that hard a feat for a professional baseball player.

14 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 1:57 pm

Unbelievable.

15 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 1:58 pm

good defense by the rays that inning.

16 rbj   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:01 pm

US just tied Brazil, 2-2.

17 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:01 pm

rbj, still watching the WWCup???

18 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:02 pm

Ah, you are.

Wow, that was absolutely amazing, what a goal. Wow.

Now they must win the PKs!

19 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:03 pm

Well done, CC.

20 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:03 pm

[9] I think he said he aggravated it in BP or something like that.

21 rbj   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:03 pm

[17] Flipping back n forth.

22 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:11 pm

Wow. Wow!!!!

(Soccer, sorry.)

23 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:14 pm

Awesome, that was one of the best soccer matches I've ever seen.

24 rbj   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:14 pm

US Wins in PKs, 5-3

25 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:15 pm

You would think that after watching how many hundreds of games, Kay would not get fooled so often on "deeeep" fly balls.

26 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:22 pm

[24] I guess that game was going here in Dresden. To come back to a question you (?) asked me before: I have started to notice a little more excitement about the Women's WC. Cars with Germany flags, people with jerseys, etc. It's still nothing like the Men's WC last year, though.

27 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:24 pm

He *is* inviting disaster!

Like I say, what kind of lunatic would be a catcher?

28 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:29 pm

[26] It is in Dresden, that's right.
The Germans are out, but the crowd seemed psyched about this game -- they got very annoyed at a couple of Brazilian players, and then (as rbj said) there was a series of horrendous calls against the US, so the crowd became extremely pro-US.

One special note for you: the British announcer shouted at the end of the match, "The US have quite literally come back from the dead!"

29 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:31 pm

[28] One special note for you: the British announcer shouted at the end of the match, "The US have quite literally come back from the dead!"

Ra-thuh!

30 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:35 pm

Well, Rose didn't really stick around at a high level.

31 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:39 pm

Driven...

32 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:39 pm

[30] Well, high enough to keep hitting.

33 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:46 pm

[32] He had some pretty stinky seasons from age 37 onward, especially given that he played corner OF and 1B. His biggest advantage was being able to write his own name on the lineup card his last few seasons.

34 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:48 pm

Hey, cool DP!

35 rbj   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:54 pm

Hooray other teams making mistakes.

36 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:55 pm

[35] Lots!
Wow, Shields is not pleased.

37 rbj   ~  Jul 10, 2011 2:57 pm

Damn, the only thing missing from that run was a big bow.

38 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:00 pm

The Red Sox have Kyle Weiland pitching. He appears to be a jr high school student. (He also pitches like one -- it's 6-6 in the fourth.)

39 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:01 pm

[36] He should be...he had Cano dead to rights at 3B.

40 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:04 pm

[39] He should be pleased because he had Cano picked off?

41 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:05 pm

Good game for the Big Man.
I have to say, I would have him come out for the ninth. (Unless we score a few runs.)

42 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:06 pm

[41] Mo is still dinged up, right? Yeah, CC definitely comes out for the ninth...heck, even they do score a couple of runs.

43 mhoward120   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:09 pm

Shit-tray warming up??? Wtf??? Does Girardi really hate CC that much? Or his own team, for that fact?

44 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:09 pm

Mitre is warming lurking.

45 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:11 pm

Huh.
What does Joe's iPad know about Mitre that we do not?

46 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:12 pm

I would have D-Rob ready to come in, honestly. Because CC will pitch until/unless he puts a man on. And Mo doesn't come into games with a man on base.

47 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:14 pm

Don't catch the ball like that, Andruw Jones.

48 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:14 pm

Big Papi up with the bases loaded and one out...

49 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:15 pm

If Mitre comes in this game, then Joey G. is conceding this game to start the all star break on time. Mitre is bad mojo.

Just love (in a bro kinda way) that Teddy Bear; Baby Huey CC!

50 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:15 pm

[33] The man still had to hit the baseball, is my point. A thousand hits is a lot to amass after the age of 37.

51 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:16 pm

Jeremy Guthrie walks Ortiz to force in a run, Sox take the lead.

52 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:16 pm

Kudos for the "Let's Go CC" chant.

53 rbj   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:16 pm

Have a seat, Zobrist.

54 monkeypants   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:17 pm

Big zone.

55 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:18 pm

[54] Big man deserves it.

56 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:19 pm

CC CG!

9K 1BB. 98 mph.

57 rbj   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:19 pm

Way to go, CC!

58 mhoward120   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:19 pm

The Man - the Master!

59 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:20 pm

Nice win.

Very nice.

I'm still pissed at Tesh, but whatever, it worked out.

60 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:20 pm

Kim in purple again.

61 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:20 pm

Wow! CC is♤.

Yanks win SF Giants style, 1-0!

62 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:21 pm

Hey! New meaning for pie!

63 rbj   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:21 pm

Pie!

64 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:22 pm

Maybe AJ should change careers, and open a bakery?

65 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:22 pm

I like that CC.

66 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:22 pm

[60] Indeed. Slammin', as the kids say.

67 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:23 pm

[64] hahahah

68 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:23 pm

[66] The color agrees with her.

69 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:23 pm

CC hugging Martin makes him look like a anorexic kid cousin.

70 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:24 pm

Vlad triples to start the fifth.
It would be cool if the O's could win and we went to the A-S break in first place (by percentage points).

71 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:25 pm

Oh, sorry, Adam Jones triples, now Vlad is attempting to plate him...

72 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:25 pm

Weiland beans Vlad. Corners with nobody out.

73 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:26 pm

Ah, the pitchers had already been warned, so Weiland is gone.

74 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:30 pm

13 wins for CC. Our Ace is the biggest and baddest!

75 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:32 pm

Ace is in for the Sox to try to work out of the mess -- he strikes out Wieters...

76 RIYank   ~  Jul 10, 2011 3:35 pm

Ace strikes out Derrek Lee.

Wow, the Orioles suck.
