I'm hearing some Curtis Mayfield in the back...

2 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2011 7:08 pm

A-Rod's MRI is negative, which is good. Let's moideh dese boids.

3 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2011 7:10 pm

That was scary. I'll accept an out there

4 OldYanksFan   ~  Aug 29, 2011 7:37 pm

It's a Monday night. Where is everyone?

5 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2011 7:43 pm

Freddy's looking good.

6 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 29, 2011 7:47 pm

Just got back to the Big Mikan from a holiday in LA. My annoying Angels fan sister was giddily telling me every time Boston beat Texas.

It's nice to see Freddy on the mound again.

Sorry to read we are punting one of the Red Sox games by letting AJ pitch. Groan.

7 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 7:53 pm

this is what happens when you throw strikes and change speeds.

8 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 7:54 pm

hey boatz,i'm ready for AJ to show up.

9 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 29, 2011 7:56 pm

Maybe the real AJ has been showing up.

I'd love for him to prove otherwise.

10 RIYank   ~  Aug 29, 2011 7:58 pm

Hey, yo.
My house is still dark and silent. I'm in the local Barnes & Noble. Bless 'em.

Go Yanks.

11 Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:01 pm

Atta boy, Nick!

12 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:02 pm

[10] As long as you are safe & sound. 38 dead, billions in damage, for a minor hurricane it's done a lot of damage.

13 RIYank   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:08 pm

[12] I know, I know. I feel guilty for feeling so victimized by such a small inconvenience!

I'm glad the Yankees' power outage is over, anyway.

14 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:17 pm

[13] My parents are frustrated that their power is out -- so they don't have internet access. But taking a few days off from the internet can't be all bad (not that I want to try it myself, as I wouldn't be able to do much woodworking either without electricity. Hmm, time to invest in more hand tools.)

15 RIYank   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:19 pm

[14] Yeah.
I have no water -- my water comes out of a well with an electric pump. I can't wash dishes. I can't wash clothes. Etc.

It's a serious drag. But, nobody's dead, and we'll be fine.

16 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:21 pm

where are you RIYank?....i'm in california.

17 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:22 pm

i'll tell you all this, i would love to see freddy pitch in the playoffs. no reason to expect anything other than a pretty good game. not too many times has he gotten lit up.

18 Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:27 pm

Reynolds reminds me too much of Kevin Millar. Therefore, he sucks.

19 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:28 pm

A.J. Needs to be a spectator in the bullpen for the playoffs.

Nova for ROY?

20 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:29 pm

reynolds is more like rob deer or dave kingman. millar actualy made too much contact.....what a sad thought.

21 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:30 pm

i agree. no way can he start a big game.

22 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:30 pm

zito and AJ are leading parallel lives.

23 RIYank   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:33 pm

[16] I'm in RI.
:-)

24 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:34 pm

did the wind and rain seem worse than "really bad" wind and rain?...was it extraordinary?.....

25 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:35 pm

he had to swing at that cuz it was just called. bullshit call.

26 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:36 pm

Both of those last two pitches were balls.

27 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:38 pm

yeah, but the ump woulda called the last pitch a strike and swisher knew it so he had to swing...one foot inside. umps are the worst.

28 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:38 pm

It figures Showalter would have hound dogs as pets. BTW, I'm watching the Boid's broadcast and they are featuring the "pets of the team."

29 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:44 pm

fucking umps....

30 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:45 pm

That stunk. That was strike 3.

31 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:45 pm

i like the oriole's crew. they call a good game?....this is the guy who does a lot of hockey too. gary thorn? is it jim palmer too?...

32 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:49 pm

Yes, Thorne and Palmer. I love Palmer's commentary on pitching.

I would be listening to Kenny, but for some reason the YES feed does not come in good on my MLB.com at home.

33 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:52 pm

[18] That's really setting the bar low.

What I miss tonight?

34 RIYank   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:54 pm

[24] Oh, me!
No, not really. It was very windy, enough to knock down lots of trees. And the trees knocked out utility wires. But the wind itself was never scary or anything.

35 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:55 pm

awesome freddy garcia and a shitty strike zone.....and the long ball.

36 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:55 pm

That was a great hit there by Chavez.

37 Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:55 pm

[33] Freddy Filth's dizzying array of off speed slop. Teix knock Grandy home from first on a double and Swish hit a 2 run job just short of Eutaw St. Reynolds hit a solo shot off Garcia.

38 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:57 pm

just read a cool article in the new york times about the coverage of the storm. the idea that people are let down or something or think it was overblown (no pun intended) is crazy. what do they want?....the hype to be true and the east coast torn apart? crazy angle to be looking at it from...

39 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:58 pm

Hmm, I'd have stuck with Freddy.

40 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:58 pm

[33] [35] Yes. Tex! Swish! And Fredddy's BACK (cue ominous music)..

41 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:58 pm

on no.....soriano!...i have sorianophobia now....alfonso and rafael style. uggggghhhh.

42 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 8:59 pm

can you believe we have to watch this loser for another two years....

43 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:02 pm

oh no.....

44 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:03 pm

Man, he worked his ass over.

45 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:03 pm

[42] AJ? I'd trade him to the Wichita Wingnuts for a bucket of warm spit.

46 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:05 pm

phew...

i could tolerate if he pitched scoreless innings more often. especially ones that looked like that. he as was overpowering those guys with that nice tight curve all...what is that?

47 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:07 pm

no rbj, soriano. two more years he is signed for....

"god let him opt out"!.....

of course he will than pitch incredibly for the red sox.

48 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:07 pm

So who's the 8th inning guy?!?!?!

49 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:07 pm

[6] Wait, AJ is starting a game in Boston??! How is this possible..do they just not care about winning??

50 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:14 pm

it's really not that big of a game. i hate to admit that but it's true. it's basically either him or a call-up....and no way do they call someone up.

51 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:16 pm

Man, this game is just cruising along, huh?

52 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:17 pm

Uh-Oh.

53 Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:17 pm

Meatball.

54 rbj   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:18 pm

Crap. Insurance runs, guys.

55 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:18 pm

i was start to take it for granted...

a short one so far though for sure.....

56 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:19 pm

Oh, Robbie.

57 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:20 pm

throw the hook......throw the hook!

58 Chyll Will   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:21 pm
59 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:21 pm

alex your comment is telling....what the hell happens here?....

60 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:21 pm

Onions.

61 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:21 pm

Good work, D-Rob!

62 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:22 pm

THE HOOK!!!!!!

63 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:23 pm

that's the FIRST homer d-rob's allowed all year. it's also the FIRST run he's allowed on the road.

that's just sick. completely insane.

64 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:29 pm

whoa.....those are crazy facts. strangely, i feel like i felt when righetti would be coming in, not mariano. i'm nervous.

65 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:32 pm

How 'bout that Robbie Cano?

66 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:33 pm

Wonderful play by Cano. Took just an extra second to see who was running and then make a strong throw.

67 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:33 pm

64) Much as I loved him, bringing Rags' name in at a time like this just won't help anything. LOL

68 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:34 pm

Ha, what a spastic swing!

69 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:36 pm

oh, just strike out already, kid.

70 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:37 pm

it's already smoother than a righetti save.

71 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:39 pm

Oh, baby!

72 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:39 pm

Mariano Rivera, ladies and gentlemen.

Mariano Rivera.

73 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:39 pm

In Mo we Trust.

74 Just Fair   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:39 pm

All Rise.
Sit down mullet head.

75 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:40 pm

Dude should have choked up.

76 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:40 pm

alright, and without our best line up! great pitched ballgame. the exact thing you need in the postseason.......and we got it!!!!!!!!

77 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:41 pm

I fucking love this guy.

He is such a ham.

78 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:42 pm

"Either way, we gotta take this show to Boston!"

(Any ETA on Derek and Alex, btw?)

79 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:43 pm

78) I read that Alex is questionable for the entire series in Boston.

80 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:43 pm

[78] That has to be Swisher, yes?

81 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:45 pm

i imagine derek will play tomorrow...

who knows about purple lips...

82 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:50 pm

frosted hair, purple lipstick. i wish...that would be amazing if he was some flamboyant tranny or a gothy punk or something...and made a career out of hitting 50 homers a season...."lamerod".

83 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:51 pm

[80] Who else?

:)

84 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:51 pm

[81] Oh, god, what did I miss? "Purple lips?"

85 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 9:53 pm

alex, thanks for posting that on your tumblr site....my name in lights! i'm feeling proud!

86 thelarmis   ~  Aug 29, 2011 10:01 pm

[84] alex's thumb is fucked up...

87 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 29, 2011 10:02 pm

I don't get it, what has a fucked-up thumb to do with purple lips?

88 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 10:13 pm

i've seen photos where his lips look blue ish or purple....i think he's been dead for awhile now.

90 briang   ~  Aug 29, 2011 10:31 pm

crickets.

i don't really think he's dead....and i don't really think he has blue lips.

sorry i left off the smiley faces "j/k's"......

91 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 30, 2011 12:05 am

[58] Tanx. I suppose the first one. I also liked the children's chant, "One, two, Freddy's comin' for you. Three, four, better lock the door. "Five, six, grab your Crucifix. Seven, eight, better stay up late....etc.
