Line ‘Em Up and Knock ‘Em Down

The Yanks will have nobody to blame but themselves if they don’t win the American League East. Yeah, they are facing Felix Hernandez tonight but you gotta figure they should win this series against the Mariners.

Cliff has the preview.

Up all night, we cheer:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

hi team.

[2] Full moon?

I love King Felix but why does it seem like we face him 36 times every season?

5 thelarmis   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:17 pm

Felix Hernandez has been outstanding in his last three starts (3-0 with a 1.17 ERA), the last two of which were against the Angels. -- ESPN.com

6 thelarmis   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:18 pm

[4] there IS a full moon. it's beautiful! : )

7 thelarmis   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:29 pm

ah, this guy ain't so good. i mean, he's only struck out half the batters he's faced!

8 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:29 pm

[5] Truthfully, what can be said about a King Felix vs the corpse of Phil Hughes matchup that isn't obvious? Maybe Felix will get a stomach bug or something before the night's over.

9 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:30 pm

Somehow, I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot more innings like that one for the rest of the night ...

10 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:31 pm

[7] Man, love watching him pitch.
Hey thelarmis, I got this cable channel over here that plays vintage live jazz gigs every night at 8pm. Saw Buddy Rich big band from the 70s recently, super swinging and funky. Last night was live Wes Montgomery.

15 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:36 pm

[13] It might wind up being his biggest contribution to the team.

16 thelarmis   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:38 pm

holy fuck. pujols is gonna reach .300/30/100 yet again. he started so slowly, then got hurt. he already has 35 homers. batting .298 w/ 92 steaks. damn, son.

25 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:48 pm

[24] If you click "dashboard" at the top of the screen, and then "profile" you'll find a box for it

[25] oh, thanks man!

when i put in the web addy, will it automatically turn my name blue, with an underline and link it or do you have to change the 'admin color scheme'?

28 thelarmis   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:55 pm

Frankie's Brain, from lohud:

CERVELLI UPDATE: Just a few minutes ago, the Yankees emailed this update on Francisco Cervelli:

Cervelli was seen today by Dr. Kirk Roberts—a neurologist at NY Presbyterian Hospital specializing in concussion syndromes. He was diagnosed with a concussion, but MRI results were negative. Cervelli is home resting. There is no immediate timetable for his return. All baseball related activities have been suspended.

29 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:55 pm

I think it should do it automatically.

30 thelarmis   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:56 pm

[29] cool. thanking you. we'll find out soon!

31 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:57 pm

Does anyone know Hughes' ERA in innings after the Yankees score? It has to be horrible.

32 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:58 pm

You get what you deserve when you walk Brendan FREAKING Ryan ...

33 thelarmis   ~  Sep 12, 2011 10:58 pm

47 Just Fair   ~  Sep 12, 2011 11:20 pm

The Hughes Car. It can go from 0-2 to 3-2 in seconds flat. Then a walk. Mother fucker!

48 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 12, 2011 11:20 pm

[24] Eric?

Let's see if Hughes can put a zero up. If he does this inning, everyone take a deep breath.

Tampa won again. The blood is draining from RSN.

49 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 12, 2011 11:28 pm

Romaine looks good behind the plate. Hopefully it's helping Hughes.

Lettuce praise him.

50 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 12, 2011 11:43 pm

Where is everybody?

51 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 12, 2011 11:47 pm

Who would have thought the Yankees would get their bats right against Felix?

[21} That is sad. All will jump in an say roid rage, but it might be; what does Manny do in retirement?

52 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 12, 2011 11:55 pm

Uh, HOOK, please!

53 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 12, 2011 11:55 pm

Hughes really can't help but suck, can he?

54 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 12, 2011 11:56 pm

That was strike three.

55 Marek   ~  Sep 12, 2011 11:57 pm

I love that they're talking about isolated power on TV, even if they are making fun of (their ignorance of) it.

56 thelarmis   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:00 am

Philip!

57 Marek   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:01 am

Dodged one, time for the bullpen.

58 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:03 am

61 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:08 am

That's a start.

62 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:11 am

Whaddya know!

66 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:18 am

Amazing that Robbie can drive a hard, low outside pitch that well!

67 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:18 am

SLASHER!

I didn't think he hit that nearly that well ... but I'll take it!

68 thelarmis   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:18 am

69 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:19 am

[63] Sweet Dick Willie doesn't agree..
"Why they call you Sweet Dick anyways?" "Your wife can tell you.>"

70 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:22 am

Great.

Scott Proctor is warming.

Wouldn't this be the perfect chance to give someone like, say, Betances a look?

71 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:25 am

Is this game ProctorProof?

72 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:28 am

Oooh, we've got Brackman warming.

Nice.

73 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:28 am

Cool... we should see Brackman this game.

74 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:29 am

[72] Common Dude... come up with an original thought...

75 joe   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:31 am

Last 10 games for the Yankees:7 vs TB
3 vs RS

That could be interesting if those two teams are still competing for the wild card...

76 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:31 am

Well done, Gritty!

77 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:34 am

Gritner makes it look so easy.

78 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:36 am

Oooh, now it's Betances warming.

C'mon Joe, give the kids a chance!

79 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:36 am

BTW, shouldn't Swisher be out of the game at 1st and either Cletus or Jesus in the game?

80 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:40 am

Great, thanks, more fucking Proctor.

81 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:41 am

Dammit ... that close.

82 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:44 am

Fucking brilliant, JoeyJoeJoe.

83 thelarmis   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:45 am

get this goddamn motherfucker off my fucking team!!!

84 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:46 am

Brackman for the 9th?

85 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:48 am

[83] Glad I'm not the only one.

I like Scott Proctor.

I wish him success in his career, but giving him ANY innings at this point is simply a wasted opportunity and misapplication of resources.

This was the perfect game to take a chance and see whether Brackman or Betances might have something to offer the team this year AND to let them get their feet wet, looking ahead for 2012.

Instead we get Proctor and Ayala.

Fucking brilliant ...

86 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:48 am

[84] My other least favorite Yankees pitcher, Luis Ayala is warming ...

87 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:50 am

In the past week, the Yankees have faced a killer and a rapist

88 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:52 am

[87] Now, now, technically, it was only "false imprisonment with violence" ...

89 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:56 am

Oh look, Luis Ayala.

Yay.

Awesome.

90 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:57 am

This is true

91 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 13, 2011 12:57 am

Oh, look, Laffey

92 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 13, 2011 1:00 am

Swisher has a decent glove at 1B.

93 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 13, 2011 1:00 am

Well, I didn't see a 9-3 smackdown of King Felix coming, but now I'm greedy for the rest of the series.

I want a sweep!

94 thelarmis   ~  Sep 13, 2011 1:00 am

proctor and ayala?!

and no pinch hitters?

fuck.

but also YAY in beating felix and winning by a half-dozen runs!
