And So…

The final day of the regular season. Sox and Rays are tied for the wildcard in the AL; Braves and Cards are tied for the wildcard in the NL.

It’s gunna hoit for someone.

We want tiebreakers!

Can't believe the regular season is just about over.

I know it. As exciting as the playoffs are I always feel the pending loss of the season, too.

Maybe they should do it like they do in table tennis or pickup b-ball where you have to win by two. That should keep them playing for another month or so.

If karma is the bitch people say she is, the Red Sox will be killed off tomorrow by Johnny Damon.

Thinking a step ahead, with probably too dramatic a reliance on sequential cause and effect: Rooting for a one-game AL playoff is great from a drama standpoint. But does it help or hurt the Yankees?

1. Playoff game sends the wild card team into ALDS with its rotation out of whack and its players ill-rested.

2. Wild card team makes quick exit from ALDS.

3. If Yankees advance to ALCS, they face a team with that much more rest and rotation alignment.

Whichever two non-Yankee teams face each other in the "other" ALDS series, I'd rather they duke it out to the exhausting finish. A regular-season playoff would diminish that possibility.
