I'm nervous.

5 randym77   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:22 pm

Such a short freakin' series. Anything can happen.

6 Evil Empire   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:25 pm

Why did I need valverde to run his mouth to make me put on my Yankees jersey?

(Maybe it's cause Bama is 5-0 and whipped Florida's ass)

Let's go Yank-ees!

7 RIYank   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:25 pm

I have learned to stop worrying.
Amor fati.

8 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:29 pm

Up yours Verlander. And you too valverde.

31 NYYfan22   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:42 pm

Yes! An auspicious start! Now let's get Grandy in from 3B.

32 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:42 pm

Wow, tight zone, ump.

33 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:42 pm

1-1 pitch, close. Guess it's going to be a tight strike zone.

34 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:42 pm

Same pitch. Nasty.

35 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:42 pm

Short swing, Rob...CONTACT!

36 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:42 pm

Cheese.

37 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:42 pm

100 mph cheese. Onions.

38 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:43 pm

dammit. MUST get this run in!

39 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:43 pm

Damn it. Damn it.

Rob was our best hope.

40 Evil Empire   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:43 pm

Get the fucking 2nd run in Joe even if Arod has to bunt.

41 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:43 pm

Dammit, Robbie.

Why am I not confident in Alex vs the fastball here?

42 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:43 pm

IN THE AIR

43 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:43 pm

ok, i turned the tv the other way and cranked it, so i'm trying to hear. too bad i'm so fucking deaf. plus, i can't eat fast...

i'm recording though. missed jeter's hit...

44 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:43 pm

Good eye, Alex.

45 RIYank   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:44 pm

[19] Dude, I got very cool stuff in the mail! I'm not going to hang around tonight... but תודה!

46 NYYfan22   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:44 pm

[6] "Why did I need valverde to run his mouth to make me put on my Yankees jersey?"

Que pasta?

47 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:44 pm

[13] perfect timing for me! i even changed my teaching schedule tomorrow so i can catch the game : )

48 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:44 pm

That's unfair.

49 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:44 pm

Yikes, those were nasty.

50 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:44 pm

How is that a strike but not that 1-1 to Robbie?

51 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:44 pm

Ugh. No fuckng chance on those curveballs.

52 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:45 pm

Nervous? Me? The mood for the rest of 2011 might rest on tonight.

Arod must plate Granderson.

53 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:45 pm

Full count. Got to expect the gas now.

54 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:45 pm

Good eye Alex! At least took him to a full count.

55 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:45 pm

Good cut, Alex.

56 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:45 pm

Just got a piece. LOL. Dag.

57 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:46 pm

YES!!!

58 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:46 pm

We'll take it!

59 Evil Empire   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:46 pm

Alex!!!

60 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:46 pm

That'll work too.

61 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:46 pm

Done!

62 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:46 pm

hey, it did the job!

what kind of reception did curtis get when he came to bat?

63 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:46 pm

That's what we needed.

64 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:46 pm

All right, got him in.

65 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:46 pm

Thank Mo. Woulda sucked big time to strand Grandy!

66 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:47 pm

Maybe the ump calls a tight inside strike to lefties and a wide outside strike.

67 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:47 pm

This announcer talks way too fucking much.

68 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:48 pm

Nasty.

69 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:48 pm

Big Fella better have eaten his Wheaties this morning.

70 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:49 pm

Verlander's stuff is good. They just got to keep him working, push that count up. No innings fewer than 15 pitches, boys.

71 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:49 pm

23 pitches and 2 runs on the board, a great start!

72 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:49 pm

Tex looks lost, he could have easily walked that AB, instead swinging at balls out of the strike zone.

73 Evil Empire   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:49 pm

So verander has pitched 2 innings in this series and given up 3 runs. What's the big deal about him?

Let's hope the fatigue catches up to him.

74 NYYfan22   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:50 pm

Jeterian. Grandian. 2-0 lead in the foist against Verlander? I'll take it.

75 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:50 pm

[45] אתה מוזמן

yay! i'm so glad it arrived and many THANKS again! i truly hope you enjoy it! did you see the name on the return address? oh, and i put a "bonus" in there for ya : )

you weren't around for yesterday's game either, hope to see ya manana!

76 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:51 pm

Give us a nice quick inning, CC!

77 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:52 pm

[73] Yanks coming back to The Ted next June. hope to see you again!

78 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:52 pm

[72] I'm not relying on him at all, at this point. I see him, I see an out. I will be pleasantly surprised if he manages to prove me wrong.

79 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:52 pm

[70] I don't see them taking many pitches. Outlander could go 9 and still lose. Sounds good to me.

80 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:52 pm

Oh, Blue. 0-2 looked close.

81 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:52 pm

1-2 was close too.

82 NYYfan22   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:53 pm

No jokes today, Russell!

83 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:53 pm

Get that slider, DOWN now.

84 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:54 pm

Very nice slider. Great job by Jackson to lay off that.

85 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:54 pm

GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!!

86 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:54 pm

FUCK YOURSELF UMP!

87 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:54 pm

Where the hell was that ball?

88 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:54 pm

Where is THAT FUCKING PITCH?!?!?!

89 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:54 pm

What's with this stierke zone??!

90 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:54 pm

FUCKING HELL!

91 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:54 pm

That was a strike. BS

92 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:54 pm

that was too close to take.

kinda squeezed, methinks.

93 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:55 pm

Okay.

94 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:55 pm

The other ones, not a strike. That last pitch a strike. And fuck YOU, dp. Kiss my dick, bitches.

95 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:55 pm

Word!!! Get turn, Robbie!

96 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:55 pm

RIGHT ON! Take that, shitty strike zone!

97 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:55 pm

DEEEE!

98 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:55 pm

goddamn robbie's got a strong arm!

99 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:55 pm

[94] Totally agree - the other two were close, but balls, but that walk pitch was strike 3.

100 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:55 pm

Nice dp

Show/Hide Comments 101-200
101 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:55 pm

But that's a strike?

102 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:56 pm

Amazing Cano can get enough mustard on that awkward throw. Even when he throws "like a girl," it is a girl with a strong, accurate arm.

103 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:56 pm

Nice DP, Cano was late, but made it work.

104 Evil Empire   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:56 pm

Good karma on the DP after that horseshit ball 4.

105 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:58 pm

God, I hate this.

106 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:58 pm

Not good. : (

107 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:58 pm

So, CC looks terrible.

108 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:58 pm

oh man. don't let this fat fucker tie the game.

109 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:58 pm

Aw man, can't be walking the guy in front of Miggy.

110 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:58 pm

[94] "kiss my dick bitches"? Funny

111 Dimelo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:58 pm

What's up with this strike zone?

112 Evil Empire   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:58 pm

I hate that fucking PA announcer in detroit. Fuck your damn economy Meechegan

113 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:59 pm

Damn, but this is a stingy strike zone.

114 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:59 pm

JESUS.

FUCKING.

CHRIST.

115 Yankee Mama   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:59 pm

Too stingy!

116 Dimelo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:59 pm

Serious, blue?

117 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:59 pm

That blue box is fucking wortless. How many pithces did Verlander have called strikes that wrere not in the blue. Meanwhile CC is getting SQUEEZED. ARE you fucking kidding ME!

118 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:59 pm

110) Okay, I had a little sugar.

119 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:59 pm

This ump is bullshit. Trouble

120 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:59 pm

This strikezone is going to be annoying.

121 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:59 pm

Sure that 3-0 was a strike, Blue?

122 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 8:59 pm

This ump fucking sucks ass.

123 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:00 pm

Three tough abs, I easy one. Another easy one, please.

124 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:00 pm

Texas holds on. This not good.

125 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:01 pm

Didn't Victor take C.C. deep last year?

126 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:01 pm

Deep breath. 2 outs. Play it straight. No worries (please).

127 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:01 pm

Squeezed.

128 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:01 pm

Martin better be talking to this ump.

129 Evil Empire   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:01 pm

Shit. That was a K when verlander through it to arod.

130 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:02 pm

I predict a battle of the bullpens. Both came back too soon.

131 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:02 pm

[117] yeah, tbs pretty much sucks for teh baseball...

132 mhoward120   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:02 pm

fuck you martinez and your bost6on stnech

133 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:03 pm

Would be kinda funny if this is a 10-9 game after all this pitching hype.

134 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:03 pm

Nice job by Victor to foul that off.

135 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:03 pm

More bullshit.

136 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:03 pm

Oh, god.

He FUCKING SWUNG!

137 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:03 pm

Fucking umps are going to give Detroit every call or what?

138 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:03 pm

He swung.

139 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:03 pm

he went

140 Evil Empire   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:03 pm

Threw rather.

141 T. Hawk   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:03 pm

Crikey this ump

142 mhoward120   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:03 pm

bullshit - the asshole went

143 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:03 pm

THATS A FUCKING SWING

144 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:04 pm

27 pitches. Oy.

145 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:04 pm

Shit 27 pitches already.

146 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:04 pm

Hey, Smoltz. STFU.

147 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:04 pm

fucking finally.

148 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:04 pm

Christ, mercifully.

I don't know if I can take nine innings of this.

149 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:05 pm

Sit the fuck down. These pro Tigers announcers are going to be the death of me.

150 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:05 pm

The umps sure they don't want to call that a ball?

151 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:05 pm

Phew.

Now, let's hope the big fella finds his rhythm.

152 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:05 pm

Yesssss! So I'm waiting to find out from Smoltz why Sabathia's 28 pitches somehow bodes so much worse for the Yankees than Verlander's 23 does for the Tigers.

153 Bruce Markusen   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:05 pm

"They don't score, but they do a little damage." Huh?

154 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:05 pm

[146] Watching the video live here on my computer but no sound..this is a good thing! Banter & Twitter better than Smoltzie I am sure.

155 Evil Empire   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:06 pm

And now we have to turn the channel again? Good grief. What the hell kind of BS network is this? At least we don't have mccarver and buck.

156 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:06 pm

Back to TBS

157 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:06 pm

Smoltz must still be bitter from the 1990's.

158 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:07 pm

Gerry Davis is public enemy #1 at this point. Maybe he was the best man for the ump Martin was razzing. Fucking asshole.

159 NYYfan22   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:07 pm

That sucked. Prolly more for you guys, cause you could *see* the pitches. Sterling only mentioned the peculiar strike zone once, and was quick to say that it'd be tight for both CC and Bowlander.

160 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:08 pm

Some light relief from the gift that keeps on giving?
Boston.com the other day had a long article on the Red Sox "trading" for a manager, with Joe Maddon on top their list. Jim Tracy was 6th. Delusional, hysterical and wonderful.

161 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:08 pm

[137] Based on yesterday, yes.

162 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:08 pm

Just heard "Joe Girardi has been stubborn"

I agree.

163 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:09 pm

Toughen up, my fellow Yankee fans. All this bellyaching about the strikezone and the color commentary is undignified! LET'S GO YANKEES! Let's make Verlander work here, get some runs!

164 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:09 pm

[155] Wait to the LCS & WS.

165 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:10 pm

[161] I am still getting lots of happy moments listening to WEEI. And humming "Sweet Caroline" in the office.

166 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:10 pm

Jorgie!

167 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:10 pm

Jorgie! Keep the line moving now.

168 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:10 pm

[160] Man, if Boston picked Jim Tracy to be their next manager, my head would simply Cronenberg.

Meanwhile, JoPo says FUCK YOU DOUBTERS.

169 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:10 pm

go jorgie!

now, don't make an out on the basepaths!

170 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:10 pm

Zombie Jorge!

171 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:11 pm

[163] Heheheh.

172 randym77   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:11 pm

Posada and Martin. There's speed on the basepaths.

173 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:11 pm

Crap AB by Martin. I did have to laugh when Anderson said "A chance for two," with Jorge on base. A chance????

174 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:11 pm

You know, I've really come to appreciate Bodie, especially behind the plate, but fuck if he isn't the most predictable worm-burning rally killer with men on base.

175 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:12 pm

A quick inning from CC is key here.

176 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:12 pm

[168] Classic! Patrick McGoohan and Michael Ironside in the same film, incredible.

I did not like that double play.

177 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:13 pm

[175] Can I give myself the CAPTAIN FUCKING OBVIOUS award for that idiotic comment?

178 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:15 pm

CC don't have it. Yet. Oh, boy.

179 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:15 pm

[177] Easy now, Matt. You're entitled to make the odd idiotic comment. What are you, better than us?

180 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:16 pm

Oh my god.

I can't take this.

181 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:16 pm

AJ like. I think I might puke.

183 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:16 pm

Oh, and this asshole with the "JH."

184 NYYfan22   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:16 pm

okay, second comment on the umps calls by Sterling. This is some bullships.

185 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:17 pm

He's not all that close any more.

186 Evil Empire   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:17 pm

CC Blass. Oye.

187 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:17 pm

Yes!

Very, very nice.

188 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:17 pm

oh brian anderson, i'm sooo sorry you are sooo disappointed in that double play.

DP!!!

189 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:17 pm

Well, if you're going to have walks, it's nice to have double plays as well.

190 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:17 pm

Man oh man. Sling it Robbie. Sling it!

191 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:18 pm

[181] AJ would have given up three doubles by now/

192 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:18 pm

How soon to : ?
Oh, nice!

193 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:18 pm

THAT'S a strike?

Jesus.

194 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:18 pm

Just get them through 6-7, CC... Then a combination of Soriano, Robertson and Mo will handle their business.

195 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:19 pm

Bravo!

Nice work, Big Man. Nice work.

196 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:19 pm

Huge K. Just turn the page, CC, you haven't allowed a run yet.

197 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:19 pm

way to go, CC.

198 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:19 pm

Hot damn. Let's go. Pin a couple more on Outlander.

199 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:19 pm

that's more like it!

40 pitches thru 2.

only 2 innings? my hair will be bright silver by the end of this...

200 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:19 pm

Well, that was a much better inning.

Show/Hide Comments 201-300
201 NYYfan22   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:20 pm

where's CC's pitch count? 40?

202 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:20 pm

Stands at Comerica seem so far away from the field..I never got to old Tiger Stadium but loved seeing it on tv. Shame it had to go.

41 pitches, get that to 50 in 3 and CC will be fine!

203 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:20 pm

[179] Hey, we all make our share of dumb comments in the heat of the moment, but mine was particularly obvious. I may well have said "I think the Yanks just need to score more runs that the Tigers tonight!"

204 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:22 pm

Nice work, Brett!

205 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:22 pm

Nice, Lil G!

206 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:22 pm

Way to put some pressure on, Brett. Now, you KNOW Jetes will bunt here too.

207 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:23 pm

[201] I *think* 41

208 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:23 pm

"Not exactly his best bunt." Actually, that pretty much was his best bunt!

209 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:23 pm

brett the jet!

and poor brian anderson is sooo sad. fucking cocksucker.

210 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:23 pm

Alright, GGBG, go, go, go!

211 Evil Empire   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:23 pm

[203] :)

213 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:24 pm

yes. CC's at 41 pitches. 21 strikes, 20 balls...

214 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:24 pm

Nice start...let's GO YANKEES!

Not sure if *every* batter should bunt though.

215 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:24 pm

Now it's a strike.

I fucking hate this prick.

216 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:24 pm

[203] If the Yankees score touchdowns and not field goals then they can win this game..oops, wrong sport.

217 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:24 pm

[202] I've been to Comerica, the stands are pretty far away from the field. I made it to Tiger Stadium, both have their pluses and minuses. I really wish they kept it around, and not let it fall to disrepair before it was eventually razed.

218 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:26 pm

[208] Unfortunately, yes.

As for the announcers, Anderson was pretty giddy over that Cano HR the other night. I actually think its a real good crew.

219 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:26 pm

Shit fuck piss.

220 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:26 pm

228 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:27 pm

Way to make him work, guys.

229 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:27 pm

[218] i like darling. smoltz sucks. that's true about the cano homer. but today, he seems miserable when the yanks do well. maybe's he's betting on the game, or simply spending too much time w/ smoltz...

230 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:27 pm

[218] Yeah, I don't hear any bias from Anderson or Darling. Smoltz may be a little giddy about Detroit, but I honestly don't think he's been so anti-NY. Annoying, yes.

231 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:28 pm

[224] I'd like to rephrase that. But y'all know what I meant. ; )

232 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:28 pm

[227] They don't bother me. I like Darling alot too.

244 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:32 pm

HOW is that a ball?

245 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:32 pm

If CC does not get that srike call what is the point?

246 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:32 pm

i think i'd rather the leadoff walk...

247 Dimelo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:32 pm

This UMP needs to get hit with a foul ball, I won't be sad if he's knocked out the game.

248 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:33 pm

LOL Leland doesn't want A-Jax to think on-base percentage? Suits me fine!

249 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:33 pm

And why is it we have two fucking pitchers doing color and not one of them has said a word about the strike zone?

250 Dimelo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:33 pm

I'm a contact hitter, and I also take a few hits.

251 Dimelo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:34 pm

[249] Because they are two douchebags

252 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:34 pm

DEAR BLUE - DIE!!!!!

259 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:35 pm

Okay, I don't have a beef with the announcers, but this strike zone is indeed horseshit.

260 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:36 pm

All I can do is laugh. (Because my anguished scream just woke up my kids.) I don't think he threw a single pitch out of the strike zone that at-bat.

261 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:36 pm

Joe needs to get thrown out. Rip Davis head off

262 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:36 pm

IF it's not completely insdie the box you won't get the call tonight.
BUt if it's Verlander and it's completely outside the box who gives a flying fuck.
boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

263 mhoward120   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:36 pm

what the fuck is wrong with cc?

264 randym77   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:36 pm

All these walks.

265 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:36 pm

Jeebus Fucking Crystal! That was a fucking strike! Ump is bullshit tonight.

266 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:37 pm

Although Smoltz did just say about Santiago "that's why he had him in the 2 hole." That must be a wild clubhouse. Must be why Leyland's always smoking cigarettes.

267 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:37 pm

Would've been nice to see A-Rod lay out and catch that one, though.

268 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:38 pm

put him away, cc

269 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:39 pm

Of course...

273 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:40 pm

You don't have to sound so happy.

274 mhoward120   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:40 pm

I'm sorry but CC looks like shit tonite

275 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:40 pm

Rothschild you have gotten thrown out

276 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:40 pm

[274] Actually, it's the ump who looks like shit tonight. CC merely looks ok.

277 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:40 pm

CC's got nothing now.

278 mhoward120   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:41 pm

total shit

279 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:41 pm

[274] And we have AJ Burnett going tomorrow.

Take your hand out of your pants Smoltz!

285 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:42 pm

Oh, Lord.

Come on, CC, keep it together.

286 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:42 pm

A walk might not be the worst thing here. I'm not even joking.

287 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:42 pm

Just put Cabrera on (via HBP if possible) and deal with the next guy.

288 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:42 pm

Another big DP.

I swear, CC doesn't look great but this is on the fucking ump.

289 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:42 pm

Oh well.

290 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:43 pm

Okay, that's about as good as it could have been. Gotta get V-Mart.

Listen folks - Smoltz just said something nice about CC!

291 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:43 pm

What is CC supposed to do, underhand soft pitch to get a strike called? Fucking ridiculous. Where is Girardi??

292 randym77   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:43 pm

I blame the rain. Totally screwed up this series.

293 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:43 pm

Lack of command. Yes. Having about 12 pitches that were uncalled strikes. Crickets. Fuck you booth. Slack jawed aholes!

Well done.

308 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:50 pm

It should be noted that its not any good for Verlander either.

328 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:55 pm

329 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:56 pm
330 joe   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:56 pm

Swisher got absolutely boned on that at bad. Two outside balls called for strikes that CC hasn't been getting tonight

331 NY15_4ever   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:56 pm

You know, we used to have guys that ELEVATED their games come playoff time. Now we have just the opposite.

332 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:57 pm

Phew!

333 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:57 pm

I am going to straight up murder someone because of this ump.

This is FUCKING BULLSHIT.

He has squeezed the fuck out of CC and completely changed this game. FIVE FUCKING PITCHES THAT WERE STRIKES CALLED BALLS.

At least four of them weren't even close.

And that's Verlander's third or fourth GIFT and CC hasn't gotten one. Check the pitchfx.

This is FUCKING BULLSHIT. MLB is RUINING THE GAME letting these hack ass fuck face pieces of shit impose their will on the game. This is FUCKING ROBBERY.

That last pitch to Swisher WASN'T CLOSE.

BULLCRAP!!!!!

334 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:57 pm

That 1-0 pitch was better than Swish's phantom K. I can't take this!

335 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:58 pm

[331] Well, Posada's elevated his game. Does that count?

336 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:58 pm

I'm almost glad I'm not watching this on TV. This strike zone looks like complete bullshit watching postseason.tv with no strike zone grid.

If I could actually SEE how bad the calls are from this ump ... well, you know ... I might have to use that hobo I'd reserved for Girardi for another purpose ...

337 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:58 pm

Ummm, Swisher?

[327] Amen. This is ROBBERY.

That guy needs a beating. This is fucking ridiculous.

341 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:59 pm

Glad to see Girardi suggest that the strike zone sucks.

342 NYYfan22   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:59 pm

[332] I agree. Also, it's kinda funny that you ended with "Bullcrap".

CoffeeJoe needs to be barking and call Davis out on this crap. Seriously. Get tossed, whatever.

343 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:59 pm

Girardi: "HE'S BEING FUCKING ROBBED. THIS UMP SUCKS SHIT. THIS IS BULLSHIT."

344 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 9:59 pm

Cliff just tweeted this, and I basically agree: "So, it seems the problem with the umpiring is that the zone is shifted toward RH batters' box, but CC, as a LHP, is facing mostly RH "

I responded that high-low calls have been a bit fishy too, but that I think he's mostly correct.

345 NY15_4ever   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:00 pm

[335] LOL good point ...

At least there's a record that people were bitching about the strike zone when the Yanks were ahead, so it's not sour grapes or whatever. From the first inning it's been insane!

347 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:01 pm

Hey, he got one there!

348 T. Hawk   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:01 pm

CC just got a gift finally

349 T. Hawk   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:02 pm

jinx

351 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:02 pm

[336] It's an outrage.

[342] Not KIDDING - ONE BIT - in the first inning, I was thinking they needed to designate someone on the bench to go APESHIT - not Girardi because they couldn't let this shit continue.

Like run out of the dugout and punch Lane in the fucking cock and tell them he's going to get his balls ripped off if he keeps up this shit. "Now run me."

352 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:02 pm

Nice work, CC.

353 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:02 pm

[347] Both pitchers have been getting that side, oddly, that's why I think Cliff is right.

NICE INNING CC!

354 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:03 pm

great frame, cc!

355 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:03 pm

Yanks need six more outs, no runs from CC.

356 rbj   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:03 pm

Good inning for CC.

357 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:04 pm

[328] Who was it in the 1996 World Series that Maddux gets the pitch a foot outside because "he always throws it there?"

358 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:04 pm

[344] There is no fucking shift. If these fucking fat sacks of crap can't learn to call the fucking strike zone that is, you know, the actual strike zone, they should be booted the fuck out of the game. And then BEATEN.

359 joe   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:04 pm

Finally, a 1-2-3. This on screen strike zone only serves to piss off us fans and second guess the umpire (who has completely sucked balls)

360 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:04 pm

[329] Nice one. I had this one in my mind but it is not baseball related. But the Ref hazing about a minute in has always made laugh.

Let's Go Yankees!

361 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:04 pm

[326] why dismay? is he a shit sox fan, or something???

behind me here in my den, is a nice thurman plaque. next to me, i have every single one of his baseball cards. and i wear his "captain" t-shirt every week! : )

362 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:04 pm

[351] I could see that. Perhaps Garcia, since he started yesterday?

363 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:04 pm

[353] But is CC getting that pitch inside on RHB? I bet he's not to the same extent.

364 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:05 pm

[350] I love evidence.

365 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:05 pm

[357] glavine always got similar treatment. he'd get every corner, no matter what.

ok. RUNS!!!

366 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:06 pm

Here comes the Yankees' best hitter.

367 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:06 pm

[308] According to pitchfx, Verlander has NOT BEEN SQUEEZED ONCE! NOT ONCE!

And he's gotten FOUR FUCKING GIFTS. Including the pitch to Swisher that was a FUCKING JOKE.

This has NOT been even. This is ROBBERY. They have changed this game, probably irrevocably. I should write in for a fucking refund from my mlb.tv subscription.

If I knew the game was fixed, I wouldn't have bothered watching all year. Fuck this shit.

368 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:06 pm

[366] It's funny because it's true.

369 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:06 pm

Okay, Jorge, we know he calls *that* pitchg

370 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:06 pm

[358] I don't think Cliff is suggesting he SHOULD be shifting the strike zone, just that he has. It's still an indictment of his crappy umpiring.

371 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:06 pm

2fb's down the middle; what's Jorgie waiting for?

372 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:06 pm

swing the bat, jorge.

all of those were right fucking there.

373 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:07 pm

And there he goes.

377 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:07 pm

379 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:07 pm

Wow, that's a strike now?

380 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:08 pm

christ almighty.

381 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:08 pm

Looks like Verlander may have settled down.

382 NY15_4ever   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:08 pm

Shit looks like Verlander is starting to deal.

383 randym77   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:09 pm

Yeah, this umpire's strike zone is weirdly lopsided. Unfortunatlely, the generous side seems to be the side Verlander prefers, while CC has been trying to paint the tight side.

384 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:09 pm

Yeah, Verlander is getting tougher.

385 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:09 pm

This fuckstain is going 9. No doubt. Christ almighty!

386 NY15_4ever   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:09 pm

Do we really have to help him out?

387 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:09 pm

The Unfair One.

388 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:10 pm

Oh, Take-Take Brett Gardner. We hadn't seen you in a while.

389 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:10 pm

motherfucker!

swing the bat!!!

what was that, 11 pitches, 9 strikes?

i had to hit mute before the inning was over. that was disgraceful.

390 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:10 pm

That was a brutal half-inning.

391 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:10 pm

Nasty pitch there to Brett. Damn.

392 NY15_4ever   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:11 pm

[387] If you swing you might hit it by accident.

395 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:11 pm

[374] That is apalling. They have to get better umpires!

396 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:11 pm

Not much Brett could've done there.

397 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:12 pm

[375] Check pitchfx. Last time I check, I shit you not, Verlander has not had a single pitch that he's been squeezed on.

This is not a time to be "fair" and "reasonable" - this is a time to call bloody fucking muder highway robbery fucking thanks for fucking our ace with the most disgraceful first fucking inning in the history of the playoffs you fucking fat cheating jerkoff.

398 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:12 pm

Yeah, Brett does take pitches he shouldn't, but that friggin' breaking pitch after the cheese he's been throwing? No chance. Tip your hat to the man and sit down.

399 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:12 pm

Still pissed that Gardner wasn't going on the Jeter double play, btw. I was screaming as the pitch came in.

[413] And Burnett tomorrow. I feel like a broken record here.

422 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:17 pm

beep-beep. hey, score truck - we need ya, something fierce!!!

454 NYYfan22   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:25 pm

This ain't over. Burlander's arm can shatter. The HP ump can slip on the on-deck coicle and break his nose. And also, Robbie Cano.

455 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:25 pm

Soriano 6th. Phil 7th. Dave 8th. Mo 9th. WIN!

456 randym77   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:26 pm

Not over yet. We're only down by 1. Four innings left.

457 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:26 pm

Four innings to do something against this asshole.

I'm inconsolable. Jerry Lane should have to throw out the entire Stadium for the amount of shit he should take the next time he's in New York.

The rich jokers in the first rows won't say shit - but I may buy a ticket. I'm loud enough that I don't have to get that close. I see nine innings of telling that guy what a dicknose he is in that guy's future. I may stroke out while getting it done, but I will at least put the seed of thought in his head that he should consider KILLING HIMSELF.

458 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:27 pm

Nope, not over. Let's GO!

459 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:28 pm

We are in a pickle, Team. We are in a pickle.

512 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:36 pm

I don't doubt that last one was a strike. Not even going to check.

Again, who is their starter tomorrow?

513 mhoward120   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:36 pm

Lets pray the Red Sox want Girardi as their manager

514 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:36 pm

Completely rolling over for Max Scherzer is going to haunt this team when they need AJ Burnett to stave off elimination tomorrow.

515 NYYfan22   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:37 pm

damn! we're in a tight spot!

516 randym77   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:37 pm

A-Rod still batting .000 in the postseason.

517 Yankee Mama   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:37 pm

Verlander has settled in, to say the least.

518 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:37 pm

[512] Does it matter?

519 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:37 pm

[507] Nor should he, they were two balls.

520 seamus   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:37 pm

[501] and a ball both times.

521 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:37 pm

This is one dangerous place.

522 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:38 pm

Can Girardi play this game under protest or anything?

At the very least, he needs to get himself tossed.

This cannot stand.

523 Yankee Mama   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:38 pm

They were borderlines. Seemed low, but not low enough to just sit.

524 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:38 pm

I shoulda checked. As I suspected, the last pitch was, indeed, high-low speaking, a strike. It was higher than the first that was borderline low. But BOTH were not strikes. BOTH were outside.

Is it Gerry Davis? I can't even remember, I'm so angry.

525 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:39 pm

you've gotta be fucking shitting me.

526 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:39 pm

Of course.

527 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:39 pm

Shut up, asshole! What are so goddamned excited about?

528 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:39 pm

perfect bunt.

529 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:39 pm

[518] I know - the worst is that it may not. Or probably won't.

[522] This is true. This has been horseshit.

530 NY15_4ever   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:39 pm

The Yankees will never win when the ump is calling a tight zone. We are too patient, that is our MO. How many guys have struck out looking tonight?

531 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:40 pm

Don Kelly seems like a name for a 1950s player.

532 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:40 pm

FUCK YOU, ANNOUNCER PIG-FUCKER.

533 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:40 pm

Gardner has not had a good day at all in left field

534 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:40 pm

Funky bounce... *sigh*

535 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:40 pm

What the hell kind of bounch was that. Who are these fucking no name fuckers. OI!

536 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:40 pm

get him the fuck outta there.

i can't believe our season is gonna end in detroit like 5 fucking years ago. this hella sucks. : (

537 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:40 pm

And A.J. looms. Going to be a long fucking 24 hours.

538 NY15_4ever   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:40 pm

Excuse me while I go throw something.

539 randym77   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:40 pm

[512] It's AJ vs. Rick Porcello tomorrow.

I'm scared.

540 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:41 pm

Gardy not doing anything helpful.

541 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:41 pm

That's the curtain. We've been so rooked. I could deal with this a lot better if this wasn't such bullshit.

542 Yankee Mama   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:41 pm

Well, at least AJ won't have to deal with Gerry Davis. AJ would go ape shit.

543 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:41 pm

[529] Porcello, by the way

544 mhoward120   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:41 pm

Isn't it about time that we all realize that CC is just a fat fucking load who has never ever been clutch for the Yankeees.
See you suckers next year

545 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:41 pm

I'd love to see CC drill someone on his way out.

546 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:41 pm

this is cc's last batter...

547 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:42 pm

[541] You know what, the umpiring sucks, but the Yankees haven't done shit. I can't put it all on Blue.

548 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:42 pm

[545] Specifically, the ump.

549 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:42 pm

2nd guessing CC... They'd rather see Logan? I'd like to know why Soriano isn't there

550 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:42 pm

[539] If (when) AJ Burnett blows the season tomorrow night,, a prerequisite to resigning Cashman should be trading Burnett. That would be the only positive.

551 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:42 pm

544) Uh, bro, you probably need to chill with that kind of talk. I do recall a world championship with CC leading the way.

552 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:43 pm

[544] ???

ooh, i sure hope robbie's foot is alright!!!

553 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:43 pm

Godlike Achilles, makes another tough play look easy.

554 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:43 pm

sori better strike inge out...

555 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:43 pm

[551] And an ALCS MVP

556 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:44 pm

[530] That's backwards.

And although Verlander has gotten gift after gift, he had it tight early on. There was a 2-0 count and our batter swung on a ball and that was seriously costly.

I can't believe we're waiting on AJ.

Btw, Girardi NEVER knows when CC is done. I've seen him fuck this up from the first year he was here. Good timing, Joe. NOW you want to bring in someone else?

Maybe Ayala again, so we can spot them a fucking run? This is so fucking aggravating.

557 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:44 pm

Uh oh. Putting out the fire with gasolevine?

558 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:44 pm

What's this? Soriano coming into the 6th inning? Q milagro

559 Yankee Mama   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:44 pm

CC is no slouch. He's been plenty clutch.

560 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:44 pm

[550] Who would take him and that guaranteed salary?

561 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:44 pm

[551] Thank you, Alex.

562 NY15_4ever   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:45 pm

We really needed CC to step up tonight and he spit the bit.

563 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:45 pm

[547] I don't know. That first inning was so outrageous and so utterly game changing that I believe I *will* blame the fucking ump. Fuck him in his nose.

564 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:46 pm

Smoke and sliders, Sori

565 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:46 pm

Sigh.

566 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:46 pm

[562] He did, but:

A) he was FUCKED by the ridiculous play - stop - no play - his shit was electric that night

B) he was RAPED by this umpire

567 JeremyM   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:46 pm

The umpiring was terrible, and CC doesn't have the stuff Verlander does to be able to pump it down the middle and get outs.

568 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:46 pm

Why is Brandon Inge always batting?
This is not fun..sports should be fun..
I need a genki drink.

569 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:46 pm

Well that's good.

570 seamus   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:46 pm

Phew

571 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:46 pm

good.

one more, please...

572 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:47 pm

We can hit Porcello, can't we?

573 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:47 pm

How are we possibly going to get three runs?

574 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:48 pm

[560] I truly don't care. And we can't pull a Pavano or Farnsworth and wring our hands over "equal return."

Dumping Burnett from this team is the definition oof addition by subtraction

575 seamus   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:48 pm

The ump is the reason cc had to work so hard. Period, and had all of this base runners, or most of them. Pretty absurd. Hard to watch.

576 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:49 pm

Good work, Soriano.

577 seamus   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:49 pm

Wow, sori owned it.

578 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:49 pm

great fucking job, sori!!!

[573] let's worry about 2 first! : )

579 JeremyM   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:49 pm

Nice job by Soriano.

580 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:49 pm

Gerry Davis owns an umpiring equipment and clothing company. BOYCOTT!!!!!

581 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:49 pm

Nice work from Soriano. Maybe he SHOULD HAVE STARTED THE INNING?

582 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:49 pm

Gentlemen, gentlemen.

Please.

As I have said from the beginning, the telling of the tale of the Yankees 28th World Championship shall be the greater for the struggle inherent, for it shall include the greatest of all miracles, the redemption of AJ Burnett.

Have faith.

583 JeremyM   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:50 pm

I don't like Jay-Z's "Heart of the City" being used for a Detroit- themed commercial.

584 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:50 pm

[582] Praise Jesus. He should start at 3rd tomorrow. : )

585 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:51 pm

[582] I love it! Who will play AJ in the movie?

586 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:51 pm

[575] To that effect, in the First Inning of HELL - that FUCKING FUCK FACE FUCK HOLE umpire blew FOUR FUCKING STRIKES - and two more borderline.

I demand an investigation.

That changed the entire game, and it is inexcusable.

[580] That is a good idea. You think Denkinger sells shit in the KC market?

Yankees fans should never buy a piece of anything from that lousy fuck.

587 rob_smith_51   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:51 pm

[582] I believe!!!!

[582] I believe in AJ Burnett.

I can say without a doubt he exists.

591 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:53 pm

[584] He should DH :D

592 JeremyM   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:53 pm

Teix, let that hit you dog.

593 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:53 pm

Hey, my plan was for Sorano to start the 6th. Fucking Girardi.

594 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:53 pm

Take one for the team, Teix.

597 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:54 pm

Tex seriously should have let that hit him. Come on!

598 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:54 pm

599 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 10:55 pm

Great job by Jorge. He has been a pleasant surprise.

And no, he was not "around" the strike zone, idiot announcer. Those were all legit balls called.

682 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:06 pm

Wow, nice recovery by Verlander. A hit and RBI by Jeter there would have been major and could have knocked him out of the game.

683 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:06 pm

sori only threw 8 pitches...

684 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:06 pm

Verlander walks the house and Jeter swings a ball to end the inning. Ferchissakes!

685 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:06 pm

678) Well, credit Verlander too. Made some tough pitches there. Question is: if the game remains tied, do they bring him out for the 8th?

686 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:06 pm

Pleasant surprise, and things are quietly zen.

THE YANKEES ARE GOING TO WIN THIS GAME!

Verlander hit the wall.

687 JeremyM   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:07 pm

Jeter didn't look like his normal self at the plate. He looked scared to me. Probably reading too much into it, but he usually seems so sure of himself even when you know he doesn't have much of a chance

688 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:08 pm

[685] I wouldn't if I were Leyland, but I can see sticking with your horse too.

689 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:08 pm

CC's off the hook and I doubt Verlander heads out there for the 8th.

690 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:08 pm

[657], [674] I'm sorry but that was noticeable, right?

That was a seriously bullshit call of a tying double.

691 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:08 pm

[683] But we have to save him for game 4. ;>)

692 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:08 pm

687) I don't know. I've never seen Jeter looked scared. Overmatched, maybe, scared, nah.

693 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:08 pm

Leyland's not taking Verlander out of the game before the 11th. That crotchety fucker.

694 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:09 pm

C'mon Sori...

695 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:09 pm

Soriano. Thank you. The binder must be in the clubhouse.

696 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:10 pm

I guess Cliff's theory rings true, Soriano got that outside strike.

697 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:10 pm

You know what would be awesome? A clean 1-2-3 inning where the Yankee pitcher doesn't fall behind

698 seamus   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:10 pm

Wow sori just got a verlander strike!

699 JeremyM   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:10 pm

A-Rod really scares me on every pop-up. He's gotten better, but he still worries me on those.

700 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:10 pm

one out.

Yup.

703 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:10 pm

Fuck.

Me.

704 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

This one is for you Randy Levine.

705 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

Shucks.

706 JeremyM   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

Fucking Soriano.

FUCK ME.

708 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

*sigh*

709 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

And fuck you, announcer asshole.

710 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

oh no.

just as he said 'careful on the 1st pitch right here'...

: (

711 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

That was a horrific pitch.

Jesus, Sori, why did you groove that down the middle???

712 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

It was just a week ago we were discussing Sori fucking up a big spot. Unreal.

713 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

Fucking Delman Young. ANd Fuck this crew.

714 seamus   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

Oh the announcers are excited again. What BS.

715 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

Soriano announcing his presence with authority... jeez

716 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

That?

That was awful.

Smoltz: Be careful on the 1st pitch here ...

CRUNCH

Soriano gives up a fucking home run to Delmon FUCKING Young.

717 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:11 pm

[704] You know, with Cashman's history of horrific relief signings, I really can't get into the "That idiot Levine usurping Cashman!" thing

718 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:12 pm

That sucked.

719 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:12 pm

Man. Homer every place else.

720 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:12 pm

Holy cow he sent that very good pitch a long way.

721 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:13 pm

Top of the lineup coming up. To hell with you Sori. Expensive Tom Gordon.

722 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:13 pm

[716] Delmon Fucking Young. That guy has been beyond useless against us every other series.

These announcers aren't even a little tilted. Fuck everyone. Fuck the ump, fuck those assholes.

723 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:13 pm

Argh, now I'm back to thinking there's no fucking possible way in hell that AJ can navigate the middle of their lineup.

724 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:14 pm

alright.

curtis, robbie, a-rod.

let's do it again!

725 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:14 pm

[723] Well, there's not.

726 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:14 pm

Come on, Curtis, Robbie...it's all up to you guys.

727 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:14 pm

Yankees may not win this game, but my hunch is it doesn't end 5-4. More runs to come, probably from both teams.

728 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:14 pm

Swisher turning around was so fucking painful. I watching this ridiculous double feed, with both of them not really giving you a full picture, so you're looking for clues. Bad clue. Dammit.

729 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:15 pm

Fuck.

730 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:15 pm

Sorifuckingano.

732 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:15 pm

Got to figure Verlander will come back out for the 8th now.

733 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:17 pm

I figure with the lead, Leyland goes for at least 120 from Verlander.

734 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:17 pm

[542] Could you imagine AJ dealing with Gerry Fucking Davis? Wow.

735 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:17 pm

745 seamus   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:18 pm

Not a single strike in 4 pitches.

746 JeremyM   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:18 pm

Our #4 batter: .000 BA
Our #5 batter: .100 BA
Our #6 batter: .200 BA
Our #8 batter: .125 BA

Tex, A-Rod, and Swisher - our 3,4 and 5 - all suck in the post-season. We need to bring in guys that perform in the post-season, like Damon and Matsui did.

C'mon Alex!

758 rob_smith_51   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:21 pm

Do you ever wonder if they call strike 3 because they like to do their "K" move?

759 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:21 pm

This is torture.

760 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:21 pm

That was it.

761 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:22 pm

762 JeremyM   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:22 pm

[758] Yes, they definitely do. Leslie Nielsen did them proud.

763 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:22 pm

3-1 curve?

765 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:22 pm

[748] A-Rod's at least hurt.

Swisher and Teixeira are starting to get depressing

766 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:22 pm

Dead red. 3-2

767 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:22 pm

He's going with the soft stuff, 3-2. Book it.

768 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:22 pm

[758] I wonder that all the time, actually. At least when a high K rate pitcher is in.

769 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:22 pm

Run into one, Alex!

770 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:22 pm

771 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:22 pm

Here comes the hook...

772 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:22 pm

101, jeez.

773 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:23 pm

775 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:23 pm

Tough. Tough at bat. Yikes.

776 Marek   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:23 pm

HA!

777 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:23 pm

778 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:23 pm

Walk. Nice AB by ARod.

779 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:23 pm

way to go! C'mon MARK.

780 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:23 pm

A-Rod is not giving up his ABs, at least.

781 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:23 pm

another walk for a-rod.

alright tex, you're due, buddy.

how bout giving us the lead right here, whaddya say?!

782 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:24 pm

Seriously - two more pitches that SUCKED.

First pitch to Granderson wasn't EVEN CLOSE!!!!

Pitch to OUR BEST HITTER - clearly high - and a punch out.

How can this be acceptable?

783 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:24 pm

He wanted to call that a strike

784 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:24 pm

Time for Tex to do SOMETHING! (Good, that is)

785 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:24 pm

[776]Hhahahaha! I haven't heard that in a long time. The good old days.

786 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:24 pm

Shit. Just missing this sucker.

787 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:24 pm

You've gotten so fucking depressing to watch this year.

Oh look. Mark Teixeira popped out

794 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:25 pm

800 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:28 pm

[756] Seriously, it is NOT ACCEPTABLE to have two nights in a row that are an utter fucking joke.

And I don't want to hear shit about these guys being "the best they've got" or whatever - if this is the best they've got, you're damn right it's time for our robot umpires.

These fat sacks of suck have ruined the game.

Oh, god. It's the defensive replacement.

802 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:29 pm

Look, the umpiring has sucked, but can we hold the Yankess just a *little* bit accountable for their own failings, too? That said, the game isn't over. We're only down by 1, folks!

803 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:29 pm

What really has happened to Tex?

Why has he sucked so hard for such a long stretch? Is it just that he's streaky, and this has been an impressive streak of suck?

Fucking Delmon Young. How is that possible?

804 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:30 pm

Tesh needs to completely breakdown and recreate his swing and hitting approach with Kevin Long.

He's a liability out there far too much of the time at this point.

805 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:31 pm

No more Zoolander? Oh, I would really love to see them hit Valverde. C'mon DRob!

806 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:31 pm

Damn it.

807 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:31 pm

I just realized it. Both the jocks in the booth have issues with the Yankees. Smoltz never beat them (and '96 must have been humiliating) and Darling well, played for the Mets. Enough said.

808 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:31 pm

Hama don't care.

Jhony got jhabbed

809 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:31 pm

[802] Yes, although they have scored FOUR RUNS with Cy fucking Robot throwing 100 mph and getting one long slow suck job from the umpire.

So maybe a little, but my rage is pretty straightforward here, I'm thinking.

The ump even took time to work the balls, lousy pun be damned.

Shut up dumb and dumber.

810 Just Fair   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:32 pm

The Yankees have clawed and scratched their way to 4 runs off Verlander who looks like Walter Fucking Johnson tonight. And CC was tortured with one of the worst double standard zones I have ever seen. I'd rather see midges fuck up a game again than what I saw tonight.

811 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:32 pm

[807] Good points.

812 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:32 pm

813 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:33 pm

[810] Harumph, harumph.

I'm still LIVID.

814 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:33 pm

[809] Lousy, nothin' - that's a perfectly acceptable pun!

815 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:34 pm

[803] It's possible by a 1st pitch fastball, to a hitter that's a 1st pitch fastball hitter.

816 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:35 pm

I do love the way this team battles. My worry, as I said all late season was I just don't/didn't see where the pitching was going to come from.

I mean if anyone but AJ was on the hill tomorrow, how much would the bunch of us, at the very least, be really looking forward to tomorrow and the chance to give them hell?

817 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:36 pm

[815] Hence the Bull Durham reference in [715]

818 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:36 pm

Nice hook, D-Rob!

819 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:36 pm

[815] Dammit, that is such a logical explanation. So logical that it makes me want to claw my brain out. We've had him scouted to a T in the past - why, why, why have we fucked the dog so hard on that one in this series?

820 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:36 pm

Good work, team.

Come on, Swish...

821 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:37 pm

Not the happy part of the lineup coming up.

Anyone think we see Montero?

824 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:37 pm

okay, people.

3 outs. anti-Mo on the mound.

wasn't it swish who crushed the 1st pitch homer off him the other night? either way, let's do this. stage the rally, tie the game, take the lead, enter sandman...

825 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:37 pm

Why is AJ on the PS roster over Colon? I would feel a lot better if he was starting tomorrow.

826 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:38 pm

Alright, time to make some True Yankees.

827 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:38 pm

[816] The thing is I think the Yankees may score early and often tomorrow, so...you know...I'll just have to hope AJ can merely be mediocre for 5 or 6 innings.

828 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:39 pm

[825] Agreed! Even with the lackluster way he ended the season.

829 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:39 pm

[825] I agree. Still feel the guy just need a turn missed.

830 JeremyM   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:39 pm

At what point do you bench Teixeira against right-handers? He is jsut awful against them. Desperate times and all of that...

I'm not sure if it's good or bad right now that they got to Valverde last night.

831 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:39 pm

937 JeremyM   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:56 pm

Words can not describe how much I hate Valverde. Unless the words are "as much as I hate Papelbon and K-Rod" I guess.

938 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:57 pm

[931] Ha ha, at least you've been consistent. Still, what are the odds of not seeing at least four runs in five innings with that just swallowed the world's biggest antacid/crossed with a queasy seagull face out of AJ tomorrow.

I think that's it. I think when he's sucking the life out of us all, he puts on that face that looks like a queasy seagull.

939 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:57 pm

940 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:57 pm

944 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:58 pm

[932]-[934] That deserved the triple hate. Although I don't hate Valverde that much. That guy is pure fraud, and if I have to choose an opponent down in the ninth, I'll take that fat suck hole, any time.

945 NY15_4ever   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:58 pm

good luck sleeping after this one

946 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:59 pm

I hate Valverde, but I don't hate the Tigers, really. I mean, I want to see them absolutely humiliated over the next two games and then see them interviewed in their losing clubhouse while weeping and punching the walls, but it's nothing personal.

947 Raf   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:59 pm

The much maligned Kenny Rogers threw a decent game in 2006, anything can happen in the playoffs.

As long as AJ-Hughes don't reprise the Wright-Lidle roles, the Yanks'll be ok.

948 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:59 pm

[940] Please, please do that. It's really not going to get any play, and it was outrageous.

949 thelarmis   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:59 pm

[938] just remember, we do get to feast on rick porcello...

aj DID come thru for us in game 2 of the serious. granted it wasn't elimination, but still...

950 NY15_4ever   ~  Oct 3, 2011 11:59 pm

I'm getting really tired of watching the same people come up small game after game.

951 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:00 am

[949] And then he completely spit the bit in his last two playoff games

952 thelarmis   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:01 am

[951] we just need him to pitch well tomorrow. we'll worry about the rest after that.

MUST WIN tomorrow. period, the fucking end.

953 Mattpat11   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:02 am

[952] I don't think he can

954 seamus   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:03 am

[953] doesn't matter. wehave to hope.

955 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:04 am

Surprisingly, after taking a deep breath and a few moments, my head still really hurts and I'm still fucking furious over the umpiring.

The calls in the first inning were a disgrace. Just look at pitchfx for the two halves, and tell me if that's not bullshit.

No joke, I will find Gerry Davis and be sure to tell him how much he sucks, repeatedly, over nine innings. Or twelve. Or fifteen.

956 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:05 am

If only Martin's shot was just a 10 more feet. Bested by Delmon Young.

957 JeremyM   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:05 am

Hell, we once saw Jeff Weaver lead a team to a World Series title- all bets are off.

958 thelarmis   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:06 am

959 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:07 am

961 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:08 am

[959] Count the Yankees out at your own peril. Time to be a hero, AJ.

962 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:10 am

Posada and Gardner have stepped it up. That should be enough if everyone else was just average.

963 JeremyM   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:11 am

Girardi is clueless. He really is. Says he left in CC because of the match-ups. A gassed CC is not better than your other options. He has been exposed this postseason (if you didn't pay attention last postseason anyway). His binder sucks.

964 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:11 am

Gerry Davis should be forced to refund every dime any Yankee fan has spent on baseball this year. Or at least any bullshit share that mlb has gotten from anyone of us.

Seriously, if you had known that this guy was going to turn our ALDS into a complete fucking joke, why would you have bothered with the rest of the year?

That first pitch to Granderson late in the game would actually, truly be funny if it didn't make me even angrier about the whole thing.

Soriano came up clutch.

965 JeremyM   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:12 am

[962] Yes, they have. I'd probably bench Teix and put Posada at first and Montero as DH for game 5, as Teix has nothing to offer batting lefty. And yes, I said game 5.

966 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:13 am

[963] I don't damn him completely, but he's had a few doozies. Ayala last night, for example.

But as I mentioned earlier, from his first year, Girardi has had a strange inability to identify when CC is complete fucking toast, even when every other person on earth can see it plain as day.

Then again, it's not like Soriano proved himself to be shut down in this game. Fucking Delmon Fucking Young. Unreal.

967 Raf   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:14 am

[965] Teix will be in there for defense.

968 JeremyM   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:16 am

[967] I know he will, but I'm saying, I'd play with fire and do it.

969 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:17 am

Last ball to Jeter was a strike, btw.

I just know my fucking Tiger fan friends will act like that balances everything out, completely ignoring that the end result was the same, the second called strike was a pitch that would have changed CC's whole night if he'd gotten once, and THE WHOLE REST OF THE FUCKING NIGHT.

Still so pissed.

970 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:20 am

Delmon Young = Ungodly Omen

971 Chyll Will   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:32 am

Yunnow, I think watching games like this has become such a poor experience that I might just ignore baseball for a while. When you can't get a quality game because the umpire is, well, substandard, there's really no point, win or lose, of watching because it sucks the life out of you. And if Selig can't get his head rearranged about this, maybe I won't bother coming back. It's certainly out of my interest to go to an expensive game live in the first place, and I certainly don't feel the urgency to watch on TV. But games that are called like that reassure me that I'm not missing much and it probably won't change.

Meh, they don't miss my buck anyway, so one little fan losing complete interest won't hurt them. :/

972 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:42 am

[971] Chyll, I have to say I have felt that about the NBA in recent years. But it's getting like that with baseball now too. It's simply not enjoyable to watch such crucial ponts in the game be altered by poor umpiring..

973 jjmerlock   ~  Oct 4, 2011 12:54 am

[971], [972] This is not hyperbolic.

This is TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW of motherfuckers who couldn't find their ankles if they dropped their pants around them.

It really is just shameful to see a matchup like that altered SO CLEARLY by one person who simply cannot perform his job.

And I'm a fucking addict. If even I want to tell Bud to go fuck himself, how about people who are immune to the nicotine?

I felt the same way about Jordan's retirement bonanza, when the refs turned the game into a farce. Like [972], I've never really gone back in anything approaching the same way, and I don't suspect I will.

This much later and I'm still livid. That strike zone was a joke. It's just shameful.
