Drum Roll, Please…

In just less than 12 hours the Yanks and Tigers will begin Game Five of the ALDS. It is colder in Manhattan today than it’s been all week. October is here.

Man, it sure would be nice if the Yanks keep their season going. I figure Swisher and Teixeira to be the heroes tonight if the Bombers win. But count me as concerned, very concerned, about Doug Fister. And not as sure as other folks in Ivan Nova.

Nerves aside…tonight will be here soon enough, won’t it? Won’t it?

After struggling through the first four games without cable, and too much to do around the house to hit the bar, Dr. TV came yesterday and set me up. Could be the last game of the season, could be the begining of my playoffs. Either way, can't friggin wait!

2) Just in time!

Yanks take a tight one tonight....3-2. Mo gets a 4 out save as he enters the game with 2 outs and the bases drunk in the 8th.

Let's go Yank-ees!

I liked the way the team came out of last game - is the O'Neill rule controlling here?

Agreed. It's come down to one game. I'm afraid of Doug Fister, too. BUT: I'll be rooting for our guys and hoping that the offense gets real offensive. We're at home, we had the best record in the AL and it's time to cheer for the Yank-ees!

Hip Hip Jorge! It's as if the playoffs bring another level, maybe a remembrance of youth for Po. Right now, he's the one to have up in pressure situations.

And sadly, if the outcome is the result we all don't expect, it will be his final moments as a player in the Bronx.

Let's go Yank-ees!

Confidence in Nova is not blind. He has delivered all year and from the start of the season has been calm and in control. He might not be perfect, or always effective, but it seems he never panics or puts himself in tight spots. Give him the ball, he wants it.

Tonight almost every pitcher on the staff has to be ready to contribute. The one to hold is CC for the game 1 start of the ALCS.

The Tigers will not roll over, and if you love the game no matter what team is yours, this is the one to watch.

7) Yup. And tomorrow night, two more game 5's. Good stuff.

This is going to be a great game. I hope Valverde the clown, gets knocked around tonight.

I saw Moneyball last night. Bennett Miller, a high school classmate of mine directed it. He also directed Capote, which I guess is the reason a miscast Phillip Seymour Hoffman was playing Art Howe.

The movie was pretty good, but had some forced tension added with the direction. It was also tough for me, knowing how it turned out without actually reading Moneyball.

A couple sitting behind me talked incessantly throughout the movie. I was about to turn around and give them the stink eye a few times. The guy kept trying to guess the next line, and the woman, kept saying, "Who is that?" After the movie, I turned around and to my surpise it was Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. (Almost ARod's inlaws) Maybe someone should talk through their movies too?

Tonight is going to be big and the Yanks will prevail. I think it will be a close game, but Let's get that Nova Mojo working!!!

I think it's a bit much to expect Nova to come through twice, but I don't think he'll implode either - though I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

I would love for Valverde to get the L hung on him but it would be better if it didn't come to that.

[9] Those jerks.

for the drum roll, which type would you like:

1) single stroke
2) double stroke
3) press roll

let's go with the double stroke. singles are okay and we'll all be pressing enough in an elimination game. let's hit a bunch of doubles in a row and punch our ticket to the lcs!

I was calm until I started reading the comments.

Yeah, Valverde's schtick just doesn't jive well with our contained Yankee ways. He infuriates me.

They can win, but I don't think it's going to be a romp this time. Although, we're talking baseball. Who knows but the baseball gods.

Al - dig the leaf on water pic.
BronxBanterers ... keep breathing. Tonight is for New York.
No nail-biting, just enjoy. Right?
LETS GO YANKS!

yeah, i'm not too on edge. i'm a Nova fan and fister isn't scaring me too much. i think we're in good shape.

unfortunately, i'll miss the damn game. super long teaching day/night for me. the 8pm start sucks. how come all of a sudden it's not 8:37? maybe 'coz there's no game before it. that later time would probably afford me the chance to hear a little on the way home from work and possibly even catch a live Yankees celebration when i get home. now, i'll prolly miss the whole thing. : (

i'm dvr'ing it and might check the tv in the break room, if i can get a break. ooh, i should be able to watch 1 early inning, or so. we'll see...

GO NOVA!!! GO YANKS!!!

I wish I was as calm and confident in a Yankees victory as I was before Game 4.

But, tonight just feels like a trap game.

It rained yesterday in L.A. for the 1st time in a long while and today definitely feels like the 1st day of Winter.

And, ever since the rain ended yesterday I can't get Z.Z. Top's "Sure Got Cold After the Rain Fell":

Somebody, can you tell me just what make a man feel this way?
Like river without it's water, like night without a day.
And it sure 'nuff got cold after the rain fell,
Not from the sky but from my eye.
