Go Brewers.

If the Brewers win, I want the Cardinals to win.

If Arizona wins, I want the Phillies to win.

Obviously, I want the Brewers to get to the Serious.

Hopefully, they'll meet the Tigers there.

2 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 5:03 pm

Go Brewers! Brews and Tigers, yup, rooting for that. Brats n beers n shit.

3 randym77   ~  Oct 7, 2011 5:32 pm

I'm rooting for the Snakes. It's not easy after 2001, but hey, it's IPK on the mound. Plus, Tony Plush is a putz. I can't stand him.

4 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 5:46 pm

go brewers!

just picked up a 6-pack of full sail pale ale. i'll be getting into that later. prolly go back to the amber ale for tomorrow night.

braun on yom kippur!

5 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 5:53 pm

[3] Yeah, but the Diamondbacks are from Arizona. Hate that state almost as much as I hate Texas.

And that's a lot.

Besides, it's the Brewers ... and they're from Wisconsin, which is one of the finest places in this wonderful nation.

Go Cheese!

6 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 5:57 pm

[5] i'm with you on all of it!

well, 'cept the cheese. i'd rather think of all the yummy suds!

7 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 5:58 pm

2-2. high outside pitch. in our series, it woulda been called a strike. here, it was a ball. 3-2 to j-up.

next pitch...do i really have to tell you what happened? solo shot for upton.

1-0 snakes.

feh.

8 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:06 pm

[7] Nah, only if it's high and outside to a LHB ... you know, the type of hitter that the Yankees have a ton of ... and the Tigers have few?

9 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:08 pm

ipk cruising thru 3...

10 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:08 pm

[8] btw, "inure" = good word!

11 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:09 pm

IPK looking good today.

12 NYYfan22   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:09 pm

I went to a game at Miller Park in July 2009. It was awesome. I think we paid like $19 for seats in the lower deck 20-something rows behind the one deck circle.

Go Brewers! Go Cards!

13 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:14 pm

Ugh. Gallardo is already at 70+ pitches.

14 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:19 pm

12) Yeah, the park looks great. Especially when the roof is closed and the sun splashes across the field. Never been to a place like that.

15 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:21 pm

i really can't stand that morgan fucker. but i dig the rest of the brew crew, so i'm psyched about the leadoff double.

16 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:21 pm

BEAST MODE!

Or whatever the hell that was ...

17 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:22 pm

i played in milwaukee this summer. coupla nights on a festival. was near miller park, but didn't get to go. when i wasn't working, i was imbibing excellent Lakefront Ale.

ryan braun on yom kippur. do it, buddy!

18 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:23 pm

[15] I'm not quite sure I understand why people react as they do to Nyjer.

He just seems like a weird, goofy guy.

19 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:23 pm

holy crap. waaay too close to his punim!

20 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:24 pm

[18] i can't stand that little fucker.

21 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:25 pm

[20] Well, yes, I *got* that.

But you haven't explained why.

22 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:25 pm

braun w/ the walk.

here comes a very skinny, little, scrappy guy.

[with really ugly facial hair and gross neck tattoos]

holy crap, that was a crazy hard 1st swing!

23 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:26 pm

[21] no time. doing too many things at once.

i think it's kinda self-explanatory. those plays last year were pretty disgusting. loud-mouthed little runt.

24 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:27 pm

ipk getting antsy.

high and tight to braun. drills weeks in the ribs.

i don't think he's trying to load the bases full of speed, with 1 out in a 1-run game though...

25 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:28 pm

[23] Oh, well, I guess I'll have to continue to be non-plussed with the virulence of the reaction to Morgan, I just don't get it at all ...

26 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:28 pm

[25] It's like the people who go nuts in hating Swisher ...

27 randym77   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:30 pm

[19] He's a longtime hockey player, and I think the kind of thing that fans expect from hockey players just don't go over well in baseball. He seems honestly surprised when he gets fined and suspended for his aggression on the field.

Morgan also crosses a line by being abusive to fans, IMO. Admittedly, he's so thin-skinned fans can't resist taunting him. They don't even have to say anything particularly insulting, and he loses it. Stuff like "Your hat's too big!"

28 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:31 pm

2 pop-ups. but a good heads up running play by morgan.

1-1

29 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:35 pm

Alright Brew Crew, shut 'em down and then ... STRIKE!!!

30 randym77   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:36 pm

IPK doing it with bat as well as the ball.

31 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:37 pm

[25] Hey, thought you were coming back in March? :)
I also don't get it..why would you hate any player, really? Except Curt Schilling of course. I think more players should be goofy and off-the-handle.

32 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:38 pm

[28] thelarmis, I'm going to the Yokohama Jazz Promenade tonight. Huge yearly jazz festival, lot of free outdoor events and all the clubs have gigs too. Will let you know how it goes.

33 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:44 pm

[31] Yeah, well, my Grandmother was a big Brewers fan ... I can't NOT show up and root for the Brew Crew!

34 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:46 pm

[33] Nice. I'M rocking a Gorman Thomas haircut at the moment so I'm all in on the Brewers for the championship.

35 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:50 pm

[34] Harvey's Wallbangers!

36 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:51 pm

Stormin' Gorman!

37 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:56 pm

[34] you've *gotta* email me a picture of that 'do!!!

[35] yeah man, my brother and i really dug the harvey wallbangers when we were kids. easier to root for them now that they're in the 'other' league.

gorman thomas, cecil cooper, robin yount, paul molitor, ben ogilvie, don money, ted simmons, jim gantner, larry hisle, pete vukovich, pete ladd, don sutton, rollie fingers, harvey kuenn.

man, that was an unforgettable team. so much fun!

38 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:57 pm

Heh, I just remembered why Nostra is a Brewers fan ... she's behind home plate, wearing yellow tonight!

39 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 6:58 pm

[38] HA! and, see above: [37]

40 randym77   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:03 pm

Gallardo over 100 pitches. This has gotta be his last inning...right?

41 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:04 pm

[39] Yeah, yeah ... you talk the talk.

But I think you walk the walk ...

OF COCK!

42 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:04 pm

way to get out of it, yovanni!

43 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:05 pm

[40] yes.

[41] huh???

44 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:09 pm

Braun ... with the Jew-Doh!

45 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:09 pm

C'mon Fat Bastard!

46 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:12 pm

braun with a leadoff double. he's 2-2 + a walk today and killin' it this series.

1st/2nd, 0 out.

scratch that. 1 out. HORRIBLE popup bunt. boo.

i'm goin' to cook some dinner, practice some marimba and clean the house. i'll check back in later.

go brewers! go cards!

47 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:13 pm

What a horrible fucking bunt.

Christ.

48 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:17 pm

Shades of Willie Mays (minus the throw)!

49 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:18 pm

GREAT reaction from Hairston.

50 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:18 pm

omg, what a wonderful catch that was. grandy-like good.

i dig chris young. power-speed guy. strikes out a bunch and doesn't hit for average, but that was some catch!

51 randym77   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:19 pm

I love seeing outfielders make catches like that.

52 randym77   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:20 pm

Yuni Betancourt? You gotta be kidding me...

53 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:21 pm

51) I bet it feels better than hitting a homer.

54 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:25 pm

[52] You have to understand how these things work.

AJ Burnett for a win-or-go-home-game-4-start?

OF COURSE he's going to come through!

Yuni Escobar with a chance to win the series?

OF COURSE he's going to come through!

55 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:54 pm

i hate having to root for this cocksucker...

but that was a BIG K!!!

56 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:58 pm

K Rod is such a heart attack.

57 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:58 pm

k-rod:

walk
k
single
k

?

58 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 7:58 pm

Fucking K-Rod ... can he EVER stop pissing me off?

59 rbj   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:01 pm

Wow, big escape there

60 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:13 pm

um...this isn't a good beginning for axford.

61 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:13 pm

yikes. bunting is *dangerous*!

62 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:19 pm

oof.

63 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:28 pm

well, at least he got out of it tied.

damn. hairston keeps giving it a ride. nuthin' to show for it...

64 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:31 pm

Wait, I thought you had lessons!

65 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:32 pm

[64] nope, not on fridays. cooking dinner, practicing marimba, cleaning, etc... i planned on turning the computer off, but didn't.

back to the kitchen to finish dinner...

free baseball!

66 rbj   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:47 pm

Wowzers.

67 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:51 pm

BREW CREW!!!

68 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:53 pm

uh...live tv.

oopsie!!!

69 rbj   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:53 pm

Congrats to the Brewers

70 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:56 pm

Dude, Morgan is an asshole. Oh, my god. What a classless punk. Staring pitchers down, all that shit last year. And then cursing and blowing his post game interview off. Douche bag. I want the Brewers to win but now I'm having second thoughts just cause of that dude. He plays like a wrestler. And what's up with all this college rah rah bs.

71 rbj   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:57 pm

Given that the Yankees got knocked out, gotta root for the Phillies getting knocked out too.
Brewers vs. The Budweiser crew -- drunk series, then Brewers vs. Tiggers. Tiggers win

72 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:57 pm

interesting 1st inning for the redbirds.

triple, double, wild pitch, catchers interference.

only 1 run plated...

73 thelarmis   ~  Oct 7, 2011 8:59 pm

[70] yes, thank you. i don't like morgan, k-rod or counsell.

but i'm still rooting for braun, brewers and robin yount! 1982, baby!

74 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 9:05 pm

True. Got to root for the Brewhas, even though they have some douchebags.

75 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 9:56 pm

Good game in Philly so far. 1-0 Cards in the 5th.

76 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 10:06 pm

Halladay gets through the 6th. Man, he's a motherfucker.

77 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 10:33 pm

Wow. And Carpenter is his equal. 1-0 Cards after 7.

78 rbj   ~  Oct 7, 2011 10:39 pm

O.K. Pitching & defense rule these days. So when does the pendulum swing and the Yankees develop some offense as well? 2-3 years? Or is it a longer arc?

79 Just Fair   ~  Oct 7, 2011 10:57 pm

Not liking the fact that the Yanks would not have had to face Doc and Co.

80 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:02 pm

Oh, jeez. Pressure 1-0 Cards going to the bottom of the 9th. I know it looks hopeless for the Phillies. But it says here they've got some dumb luck magic in them to win it.

81 Just Fair   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:05 pm

Yikes! Missed it by THAT much!

82 Just Fair   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:07 pm

I HATE larussa but I love seeng the Phillies and their fans lose. Fuck them! Long live baseball! lol....

83 Just Fair   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:09 pm

Ouch. Never seen a clinching out coinciding with a horrible injury. wow!

84 Marek   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:10 pm

Wow, Ryan is going to get ripped in the Philly press.

85 Jon DeRosa   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:16 pm

that was one pretty great game

86 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:21 pm

Three tense, exciting, terrific Game 5s. Amazing defense behind Carpenter. Man, did you see Howard limping off the field, getting booed. That's the A Rod treatment.

And yeah, the Phils losing sure does make the Yanks loss easier to take. Least from where I'm sitting.

87 Marek   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:23 pm

[86] A-men. The Phils were supposed to be locks for the WS, much more than the Yankees. This'll take some of the heat off. Not least from my Philly relatives!

88 Simone   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:26 pm

Wow, I thought the Phillies were a lock to win the World Series. Guess that is why they play the games. Eh, I can't stand Philly fans. They are almost worse than Red Sox fans, kind of like 1A and 1B.

89 cult of basebaal   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:39 pm

My dream of Detroit vs Milwaukee is still alive!

FUCK Texas!

Let's go Tigers!!

Let's go Brewers!!!

90 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:45 pm

It was supposed to be the dream pitching rotation vs. the best team evah in the world series. Too bad, and yes, it takes the some of the sting off the Yankees.

So in the NL, it's The Champaign of Bottled Beer vs. King of Beers. Urp.

91 NYYfan22   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:52 pm

[86] heh. I'm at work and my coworker is a diehard Philly phan. Phips, Eagles, Flyers, whe whole bit. We had the game running on my phone via mlb.com audio.

Howard stepped in with 1 out left in the game, down one run. I said, "Hmmm.. seems like A-Rod last night". Then the broadcaster mentioned Howard was coming to the plate 0-for-11. "Nevermind.. A-Rod did better than that!" I could help myself.

he fumed... misery loves com'ny, they say... plus the Gints are tops while the dirty birds are hurting. love it!

92 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 7, 2011 11:56 pm

[90] Some day, I will learn to spell Champagne correctly.

93 thelarmis   ~  Oct 8, 2011 12:36 am

that was a really good game.

and a really good outcome.

carp was nails tonight!

go brewers!

94 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 8, 2011 12:47 am

Wow, that's a heavy celebration in Milwaukee! Good for them, will be a good series against the Cardinals. 1982 ahoy!

95 RIYank   ~  Oct 8, 2011 8:00 am

[93] We need Carpenter on the Yankees. He'd go perfect with The Hamma.

96 novayankeefan   ~  Oct 8, 2011 11:27 am

As a diehard Yankee fan living in Philly, amongst a sea of red, listening to the media blowhards everyday saying that the Phillies were a lock to win the WS, this gives me alot of satisfaction. My wife and her family are big time Phillies fans and now I don't have to hear about the Yankees coming up small!
Seeing the greatest team ever not even making the playoffs, and them "Fighting Phils go down, eases some of my sadness if the Yanks losing!
Sorry to see what happened to Howard though, Achilles tendon torn, out for a year at at least.
