Yay baseball!

2 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:07 pm

Oh great, an URP.

3 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:08 pm

Jeter!

4 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:08 pm

WOO-HOO!

5 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:08 pm

The Captain!

6 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:08 pm

Man, I thought that was a flyout.

Jeter shows power!

7 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:09 pm

JETES, SWISH!

8 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:09 pm

Oh the other hand. . .

9 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:11 pm

All three to the same part of the field.

10 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:13 pm

That was another one of those stats designed to make a current Yankee look good but just makes you realize how awesome Rickey was.

11 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:17 pm

sigh

12 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:22 pm

[10] Yup. It's funny, if you go by position, Rickey isn't your all-time greatest left-fielder, but if you're constructing the all-time batting lineup, I put Rickey leading off.

13 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:25 pm

[12] Yeah. I guess you make Ted Williams DH?

14 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:27 pm

[13] Yeah.

15 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:29 pm

Its 7:30 and we're still in the first inning

16 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:34 pm

That was not very nice, Freddy

17 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:35 pm

[15] About as exciting as watching paint dry.

18 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:35 pm

Good inning, Fred. Real impressive.

19 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:35 pm

Hurry back, Andy.

20 Shaun P.   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:35 pm

[16] But he's a proven veteran! He knows how to win! He knows how to pitch in the big leagues! /snark

I am sure he's bullpen fodder when Pineda returns / if Pettitte comes back first, but I do feel bad for Phelps. I bet Phelps could do at least as well, if not better, than Freddy. C'est la vie.

21 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:36 pm

Jesus, is this going to be a 15 inning slop fest?

22 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:40 pm

Is it possible that Kay has gotten even worse at judging fly balls?

23 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:41 pm

Strike zone is big. Not like yesterday.

24 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:42 pm

Please get Freddy back out there stat. I'm ready for another 35 pitch inning.

25 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:43 pm

Good eye, Brett.

26 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:44 pm

This is gonna be one of those games where we strike out looking nine times, isn't it?

27 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:47 pm

Damn *that* was a strike?

Indeed, both corners are generous.

28 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:47 pm

Okay, the strike zone isn't big. It's just kind of mushroom-shaped.

29 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:48 pm

Holy Christ, Freddy has to be taking 45 seconds between pitches

30 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:50 pm

Huh. Go figure.

31 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:52 pm

I'm glad we have Russell Martin.

32 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:53 pm

[31] If Frankie was in, Gardner would just be getting to that ball now

33 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:54 pm

They're a half inning ahead of us in Toronto. Sox have one hit in three innings against Kyle Drabek.

34 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:56 pm

Never expected to hear "Vinnie Chulk" again

35 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 6:57 pm

Do-over! Jeter isn't allowed to make an out against the Orioles.

36 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:00 pm

We're catching up to the Jays/Sox now. Two on, nobody out for Bautista...

37 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:01 pm

Bard firing flames but missing. 3-0 to Bautista...

38 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:03 pm

Bard comes back and strikes out Bautista on a foul tip. Now Lind.

39 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:05 pm

Bard attacks Lind with sliders, 0-2. Then he climbs the ladder with his 4-seamer but Lind hammers it into center to drive in a run.

40 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:05 pm

This game is horrifyingly boring.

41 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:06 pm

You know, major league baseball players are fucking amazing.

It's incredible that Curtis caught that baseball.

42 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:06 pm

[40] Yes.

43 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:11 pm

I bet you 9 is a fair guess

44 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:13 pm

What is that, six strikeouts?

45 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:13 pm

This is the Yankees vs URP I remember.

46 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:14 pm

3-0 Jays.
Bard's heater is sitting around 94-95. Not bad, but a far cry from the 100mph he had as EIG.

47 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:15 pm

You know the thing about Teix?
He misses a lot of cookies for a guy who's supposed to hit homeruns and doesn't hit for a high average.

48 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:16 pm

Well it is Sandy Koufax out there so don't expect much offense.

49 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:22 pm

This is an insufferable game to watch.

50 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:23 pm

Get well soon Pineda.

51 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:24 pm

Oh Jesus fucking Christ.

52 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:25 pm

Yeah, lets get David Robertson hurt so we can have a crappy lefty warming up.

53 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:26 pm

Fail.

54 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:27 pm

Dammit Russell.

55 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:27 pm

He missed the fucking ball.

JUST END THIS AWFUL GAME

56 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:28 pm

On the bright side Jones did not end Martin's season.

57 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:30 pm

Oh for crying out loud!

58 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:32 pm

Wow.

That was very impressive from Derek.

Nice range, old timer!

59 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:34 pm

So, on the one hand, he saved a run.

On the other, apparently he kept Freddy Garcia in the game.

60 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:36 pm

I believe Freddy has realized it's the Orioles and he's doing his best to make it a four hour game.

61 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:38 pm

If he can do that, he hits .300

62 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:39 pm

A hit with a man on second would be appreciated.

63 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:40 pm

Come on, fucking Swish...nice and easy...

64 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:40 pm

Wow, that was fast.

65 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:40 pm

You're killing me, Swish. Fucking Bollocks!

66 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:40 pm

God almighty Michael Kay sucks.

67 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:40 pm

Damn it.

68 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:42 pm

When you have two RISP, you really don't need to hit it to the deepest part of the park like that.

Nice and easy up the middle would more than suffice.

69 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:44 pm

I never want to see Freddy Garcia pitch again

70 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:44 pm

Why the fuck is Garcia out there still?

71 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:46 pm

Wow, free out. Thanks!

72 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:46 pm

Excellent play by Martin.

73 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:48 pm

Oh,my.

74 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:48 pm

Rapada is up to give me a stroke, Michael.

75 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:50 pm

OH, FOR FUCK'S SAKE!

76 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:50 pm

Atta boy, Freddy. Superbly done you jackass.

77 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:50 pm

Unbelievable.

78 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:50 pm

Jesus, now I'm cracking up.

This is brutal.

79 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:50 pm

Freddy looks orange. I believe he's turned into a pumpkin.

80 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:51 pm

Boone Logan answering the phone

81 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:51 pm

Hey Joe. You're 2/3 of inning too late. grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble

82 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:54 pm

Freddie Garcia: 4 WP ENTIRE 2011 season.
Freddie Garcia: 5 WP in 4+ IP in 2012.

How often does that happen?

83 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:54 pm

Rick Ankiel never threw five wild pitches?

84 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:55 pm

At this point in the year I like Phelps more than Hughes or Garcia. And that's just based on the one start I saw him make this spring.

85 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 7:59 pm

That's it Robbie. String some friggin' hits together.

86 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:00 pm

Chill OUT, Alex.

87 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:01 pm

Damn it.
Damn it.
Damn it.

88 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:03 pm

I expect nothing from Teixeira

89 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:05 pm

I don't understand Teix.
Why is he swinging at that ball in the dirt but he doesn't protect the outside corner?

90 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:05 pm

Oh my God, it's only the sixth inning?

91 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:05 pm

And again, pulling that outside pitch. He just can't help himself.

92 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:06 pm

a. hit
b. double play
c. 2 quick outs
d. other
hmmmmmmmm......

93 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:07 pm

I have a message from Tex:

You banterers might not know as much about hitting as you think.

Love,
Mark

94 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:07 pm

It's like watching Matsuzaka

95 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:08 pm

This would be a really good time for a double.

96 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:09 pm

That was frighteningly close

97 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:09 pm

[93] hahahah

All I know is, I heard the man hold forth about how he regrets being nothing but a pull hitter and really wants to use the whole field this year. Said it loud and clear, before God and everyone.

98 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:09 pm

Lame. Beggars can't be choosers I guess.

99 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:10 pm

[83] My first game was Tommy John's return as an Angel. He only threw 3 wild pitches in 2 innings.

100 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:12 pm

God, Martin's a slow fuck.

101 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:12 pm

Hmm

102 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:12 pm

Yes.
Thank you, Russell. It's good to have him on the team.

103 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:13 pm

Great hustle. Great. I love Russell.

104 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:13 pm

ATTA BOY, BRETT!

FUCK YEAH!

105 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:13 pm

Now they're cooking with grease! : )

106 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:13 pm

Comeback!

107 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:13 pm

Yay!

108 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:13 pm

Let's all applaud again, let's all applaud again!

109 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:13 pm

Just like that.

Just like that.

110 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:14 pm

[108] Yes, exactly! Perfect.

111 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:14 pm

Gritner has a wheelhouse?

112 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:14 pm

I'm gonna go get the papers, get the papers.

113 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:15 pm

[103] His post game interview last night was pretty damn funny.

114 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:17 pm

Flipping over to the Jays game. Bases loaded, nobody out for the Jays.

Single by Arencibia, bases still loaded for Colby Rasmus. Toronto is looking good.

115 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:18 pm

[113] Argh, I missed it. I don't get the postgame on mlb.tv.

Sac fly in Toronto, 6-1.

116 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:21 pm

Pound the strike zone, kid!

117 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:23 pm

I'm enjoying the Yankees post Karstens philosophy of having long men that aren't the worst pitchers you can realistically have on a 25 man roster

118 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:26 pm

Satisfactory, Mr. Phelps.

119 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:29 pm

Good enough, Mr. Swisher.

120 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:29 pm

Newsflash: The umps have been terrible on check swings so far.

121 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:32 pm

Oh, fuck me.

122 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:32 pm

Horseshit send. Why??? WIth the fucking 4-5 batters coming up with a hobbled swish. boooooooooooo!

123 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:33 pm

WHY THE FUCK DO THEY HAVE SWISHER RUNNING WITH NO OUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

124 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:33 pm

Dang.

125 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:33 pm

Unacceptable, Mr. Swisher.

126 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:34 pm

Unacceptable Mr. 3rd base coach

127 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:36 pm

[126] Rob Thomson.

128 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:36 pm

Cano's first XBH? Need A-Rod's to yard now, it's time to end the power outage..

129 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:37 pm

Newsflash #2. The umps suck. Period.

130 jfdrums   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:37 pm

Seems the rampant stupidity is becoming infectious throughout the coaching staff.

131 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:37 pm

Oh, I see.

Yeah, that was bullshit.

132 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:37 pm

Waitwat?

133 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:38 pm

What the fuck is the strike zone tonight?

134 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:38 pm

[128] Didn't he get a double in Tampa?

135 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:39 pm

[134] Yes. Second game.

136 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:39 pm

There's a shocker

137 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:39 pm

Horseshit call against Alex.

138 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:40 pm

123) Here, here. That was a boneheaded move.

139 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:41 pm

Did that inning really just happen?

We're really going to be 1-4, aren't we?

140 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:42 pm

I guess Rob Thomson figured Alex and Swish were going to strike out, better send Nick.

141 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:42 pm

He's got good late action on that fastball.

Damn.

142 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:42 pm

Thomson saved us the pain of seeing Alex, Teix, AND Granderson striking out with men on 2nd and 3rd. So there's that.
And then there's Phelps. Whoo-hoo!

143 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:43 pm

[140] (Teix.)

144 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:45 pm

I'm not sure what the Os are looking for

145 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:45 pm

[143] Quite.

David Phelps. Yes indeed. Bright spot.

146 rbj   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:47 pm

I'm liking Phelps. Umps, not so much.

147 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:48 pm

Encarnacion bomb, 7-1 Jays.

148 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:52 pm

[147] The Boston staff is not bootylicious this year..this makes me a bit happy.

Who is David Phelps, btw? I'm a bit behind so far this season on the young'uns.

149 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:52 pm

Hey, a pinch hit.

150 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:52 pm

This would be a great spot to debut the punch stand there

151 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:54 pm

[150] I believe we have a new Banter-word. Let's hear it for the "punch stand" everybody!

152 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:54 pm

[150] NO PLAYS.

153 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 8:57 pm

You notice we only ever hit and run with combinations that are doomed to fail?

Who the hell thought THAT was a good idea?

154 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:01 pm

I'm a little worried, D-Rob must be tired. From yesterday.

155 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:06 pm

I don't think Jeter can hit Jim Johnson with a paddle

156 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:08 pm

And in fact he doesn't. And no one else really does either.

157 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:10 pm

Not too tired.
Good Hammering, Mr. Robinson.

158 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:11 pm

Mattpat, are you posting from the future?

159 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:12 pm

Cano is 6 for 19 (with six singles) Swisher is 3-10 with a walk and a double and Martin is 2-4.

Swisher is the only Yankee with an extra base hit.

160 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:13 pm

If I could throw a changeup I'd beat the Yankees.

161 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:14 pm

How Jete it is.

162 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:14 pm

Good start. Beware of bunt.

163 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:14 pm

Good thing Jeter wasn't using a paddle.

164 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:14 pm

Jeter is now 3-15. Yay!

That was a genuine yay too.

165 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:14 pm

[162] NO PLAYS.

166 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:16 pm

[165] I'll take a HR here.

167 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:16 pm

The Orioles announcers knew Swish wouldn't bunt, because then they'd walk Cano.

168 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:17 pm

Shoulda bunted.

169 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:17 pm

C'mon, Robbie. Find a gap.

170 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:18 pm

Fug.

171 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:19 pm

Channel your younger self here.

172 RIYank   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:20 pm

Oy. It wasn't a strike, either. Bad eye.

173 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:20 pm

For. Fuck's. Sake. Pathetic.

174 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:20 pm

It's early..it's early..but is A-Rod just done?

175 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:21 pm

Damn.

176 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:22 pm

174) C'mon now. He had great swings in Tampa. Breathe.

177 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:22 pm

Ive wasted three and a half hours of my life to see Boone Logan.

178 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:23 pm

Boone for the 9th. Yikes.

179 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:23 pm

[176] Didn't catch most of his ABs there, that's reassuring to hear. He just usually kills the Boids in Camden Yards.

180 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:25 pm

Does piss poor defensive positioning count as a play?

181 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:26 pm

Lousy couple of games for him but he's been okay.

This looks bad now...

182 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:27 pm

Cano was playing up the middle and Boone's nailing the outside corner. Hence the seeing eye dribbler. Ugh.

183 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:27 pm

Anyone else get the feeling we're about to cycle through five relievers in two innings?

184 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:28 pm

[177] I have had more than enough Boone Logan in my life..is there no one at AAA that can replace him?

185 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:30 pm

You know, tie game in the ninth with three relievers left might not be the best time to buts out the frigging LOOGY.

186 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:33 pm

You just know this cocksucker is going to get the game winner here.

187 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:34 pm

Is Soriano hurt already. BR says he hasn't pitched since game 1.

188 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:35 pm

That was scary. Saw that one flying into center.

189 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:39 pm

Good job.

190 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:39 pm

Oh good. This particular game is going into extra innings.

Its preferable to losing.

I suppose.

191 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:48 pm

It's about time for a Markakis home run.

192 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 9:55 pm

Good. I can't stand Markakis.

193 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:00 pm

1 more out, Wade.

194 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:04 pm

crickets....

195 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:05 pm

I hate this guy's delivery.

It's retarded.

196 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:05 pm

[195] Back now! Go Go Team!

Pedro Strop?

197 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:08 pm

[179] Well it certainly appears that he's no longer a monster at the plate.

Although, I would love for him to prove otherwise. Hell, our season depends on it.

198 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:08 pm

Dag, that bunt was too hard.

199 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:10 pm

This dude's routine before every pitch is played out. Throw the fucking ball already

200 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:12 pm

This game fucking sucks.

This game stinks.

202 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:14 pm

[199] Sorry. I've done that twice in two days. Slow connection, perhaps.

203 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:15 pm

We might have to start batting Arod and Teix, 8th and 9th.

204 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:15 pm

Oh no.

205 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:18 pm

Alpaca Yard!

206 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:19 pm

[202] Torre tried that.

207 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:19 pm

[202] People have taken to calling Teixiera the new Giambi.

At least Giambi got on base.

208 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:21 pm

Another flaw in giving Joe his beloved second lefty. If he's useless against righties, that hamstrings you in extra inning games.

209 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:22 pm

That was a good pitch.

210 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:24 pm

If these guys can't do it,....[help me out here]

211 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:25 pm

Bang? Or Whimper?

212 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:26 pm

Not bad for a former #9 hitter.

213 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:26 pm

Nice hit, Rob.

214 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:26 pm

Send Chavez up to squeeze! ; )

215 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:27 pm

IN THE FUCKING AIR MARK.

216 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:27 pm

That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!

217 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:27 pm

FARTHER IN THE AIR

218 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:27 pm

WTF! Take goddam mutherfucking pitch fer chrissake!

219 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:28 pm

220 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:28 pm

You fucking suck ass, Teix.

221 RagingTartabull   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:28 pm

Jesus...

Oh hi gang!

222 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:28 pm

Hit Teixeira eighth.

223 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:29 pm

Watching on my iPhone now, headphones in. Catching a lot of fans comments in the background, just heard someone shoult "Reynolds, you're killing us!" on that foul pop up. Funny.

Teix..has he ever had a clutch hit for the Yankees? Can't remember.

Oh great, E-banez coming up with the IBB to Grandy.

224 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:30 pm

Raul will come through here. Why the fuck not?

225 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:31 pm

Modamn Straight!

226 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:31 pm

HOORAY!

227 RagingTartabull   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:31 pm

Thank you

228 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:31 pm

Cashman you are on notice here.

229 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:32 pm

[222] On the rare occasion that he'd actually gotten a hit in the playoffs, they tended to be pretty big.

230 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:33 pm

Sorry guys and gals, my connection seems to be awful slow. I better stop commenting. Anyway,

BOOHYA!

231 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:33 pm

Wow..why did they not stick to fastballs there? Strop was dealing. Well done Rauuuuul!

232 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:34 pm

[229] Boat, what are you watching now? I've got mlbTV on the phone, it seems uptodate.
The Gameday function is always a beat or two behind though.

233 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:34 pm

Alright, come on Mo!

234 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:36 pm

[232] MLB Premium, yo! But we are still on ISDN at home. I'm pulling a sickie today.

235 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:36 pm

Big inning. In many ways.

236 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:36 pm

Michael Kay lives and dies with the radar gun, and then tries to pretend he doesn't.

237 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:39 pm

[233] Sorry. That shoulda been [231] and I shoulda stayed in bed.

238 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:39 pm

Finish him!

239 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:39 pm

Endy Chavez feels like a Mo Killer.

240 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:39 pm

[233] Slacker! I was up with the sun today to plow the fields!
Jingu at the end of the month? Chat offline soon.

241 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:40 pm

There it is. 1 down.

242 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:41 pm

[239] I was up with the sun too, but I was already up, bubba.

243 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:44 pm

All rise!
What an epically U.G.L.Y game.

244 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:44 pm

Mariano Rivera, ladies and gentlemen.

Mariano Rivera.

245 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:44 pm

I can't explain the terror I'm in watching Mariano Rivera close games these days.

Its not even really that I think he'll blow a save. I'm just so worried that he *might,* and more than anything else, even wanting the Yankees to win the game (even though they go hand in hand), I want to see Mariano Rivera succeed.

I don't know if that makes any sense.

246 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:46 pm

[243] May you MC that phrase for years to come, Weeping!

247 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:47 pm

[244] Makes perfect sense. I think most of us feel the same. Mariano is just..special.

248 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:47 pm

[244] I hear ya. That's what baseball is all about. This game sucked in so many ways, but we won.

I know I say this a lot, but Suzyn, you just can't...

249 Jon DeRosa   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:47 pm

[244] That's how I used to be. Now that this is looking like his last year, I'm just trying to watch every pitch. Better results tonight, but the pitches had much more life on them. Especially second pitch to Markakis, that was a bastard pitch.

Of course getting that corner never hurt anybody either.

250 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:48 pm

Dammit, did this game just end now?? It's the beginning of the season and already it seems like August.

251 seamus   ~  Apr 10, 2012 10:59 pm

hurray another win! i caught the end of the game while doing yoga (seriously). it was good to see Mo close it out.

[244]i feel the same way. I'm terrified Mo won't be Mo and that'll somehow tarnish how awesome he is. it won't. just an irrational fear of mine.
