Its a smart move, methinks. Since Ibanez is horrible at playing the outfield, and should never be allowed to play the outfield - except in an emergency - I wish the Yanks had just signed Matsui instead.
The pool of available DH-only players keeps shrinking. If the Yanks have to go shopping in the summer for someone to replace Ibanez, the price is going to be higher than it should have been.
[3] Vlad's being looked at by the Diamondbacks. Bobby would be a intriguing possibility if he were willing to accept a reduced role; he groused about it in LA long before he got squeezed out of the roster Friday. The guy still has some pop and can still get on base and just has to be better than Ibañez out there...
[2] That guy is hitting like Nuñez this year. He looks interesting long-term, of course...
I don't think I'd go for Abreu or Guerrero. They're both past-greats. I guess Bobby A. can still draw walks, but to me that's not much of a selling point for a DH.

[1] there's a promising young, right-handed DH -type on Seattle who also does a little catching. I think he'd be perfect - if we can afford him.
sorry, Shaun, you gave me a great bounce pass to the layup.
Vladi still doesn't have a job. And I wonder where Bobby Abreu will land?

Godzilla's knees on artificial toif? Ouch. Hope they have lots of ice.
Maybe they just plan to play him at Yankee Stadium & Fenway. Two places he owns.
[5] Good point. Why hasn't Nunny gotten more DH appearances with Gardi on the DL?
