It Ain’t Easy

David Robertson hadn’t given up a run since last September. He was due for a beatin’.

Then again, Jack Curry reminds us that Mariano Rivera blew3 of his first 6 save opportunities back in 1997.

"Rivera Adjusting To Role As Closer"

15 years later, that reads like an Onion headline.
Good stuff from Curry.

I'm sure DRob still feels like he is 'replacing Mo'. That can't be a goog feeling, and exerts undue pressure. In a bit, he will just feel like our Closer, and I'll bet he will be fine.

Robertson AKA Houdini has been close to allowing big innings quite a bit. He may also have been tired from the evening before. How he bounces back will be key. I feel for the guy. That homer was a real wall scraper in right too.

I didn't see the replay, but it looked from my naked eye that it was almost fan interference. Is Jeffrey Maier back in the Bronx?

If he is ordained as the new closer, he will be more in the mold of Wettland than Mo, and as long as he is successful it will be ok with me. Of course it helps to have a strong stomach.
