I enjoyed a lot of ramen last week in Japan. I can't really separate the quality of the noodles with the thrill of being there.
The "worst" bowl I had was my also favorite, a chain in Osaka called Shi-ten-noh, because I went there alone, later in the night, and without any help (apart from the internet of course).
[2] Ippudo is superb. It's now a chain around Japan (and the world) but started as a humble shop in Fukuoka city, Kyushu island (southern Japan, very famous place for ramen.) Their specialty is the Miso-Red Ramen. Got one branch across the street from my apartment here in Tokyo!

I've heard amazing reviews about the food at Ippudo!
