My Little Groundout with the bases loaded to end the game in Wrigley.

2 rbj   ~  Jun 15, 2012 4:22 pm

Cool to see Stony Brook in the CWS.

3 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 4:31 pm

i'm an honest abe fan.

[1] beddy beddy nice!

[2] joe nathan (jonathan) went to stony brook...

hmmm. yesterday was an off day and today we're facing a 1st place club. hope robbie's alright!

4 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 15, 2012 5:32 pm

I clicked here and then Lohud. Here is the 1st paragraph.
"Robinson Cano is just fine, just getting a day off. Even with an off day yesterday, Joe Girardi said he felt like this was a good time to give Cano a precautionary day off against a left-hander who’s had some success against him. Cano is 0-for-9 with four strikeouts in his career against Gio Gonzalez. Jayson Nix is 3-for-7 with a home run."

5 rbj   ~  Jun 15, 2012 5:44 pm

[4] Phew.

6 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 15, 2012 5:53 pm

[5] Double Phew!

Excited to watch Bryce Harper, though hope we win of course.

7 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 5:56 pm

Hey, so Andy will pitch tomorrow against someone less than half his age.

8 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:01 pm

Oh it's Al Leiter tonight..why no Cone?

9 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:06 pm

Jesus Girardi..Cano is one of the best hitters in the league. 0-9 is NOT indicative of anything!! So no there is the pitcher batting as well as Nix instead of Cano. Silly move.

10 rbj   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:07 pm

Loud crowd tonight.

11 rbj   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:10 pm

Nice catch, Bryce.

12 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:10 pm

Oh, him, yeah.

13 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:15 pm

Hm.
Come on, Phil. Shake it off.

14 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:20 pm

The Nats' announcers are spouting mindless, irrelevant statistics.

15 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:22 pm

Huuuuuuuuuuuughes!

16 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:23 pm

Nice job by Phil. I like the way he changes eye levels with the same pitch. Threw 94 mph down past Morse and then elevated 94 mph past him chest-level.

17 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:31 pm

Boy, that's an impressive curve ball Gio has to go along with 96.

18 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:34 pm

[17] It is.
The Yanks have to take their cue from Russell, I think. Wear this guy down a little.

19 rbj   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:35 pm

Might be a long night for the hitters..

20 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:37 pm

[14] RIYank, I just read the book "Scorecasting", think it would be right up your alley. Not sure I bought all of it but certainly was interesting. Lengthy bit on how "momentum" really doesn't exist, fascinating.

21 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:43 pm

[20] Sounds good. Hm, it's cheaper in paperback than for Kindle. Maybe it will be my beach book. (I don't like the Kindle at the beach.)

22 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:44 pm

[21] Last chapter on the Cubs (and why they never win) was great. And rough for any Cubs fans!

23 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:47 pm

He's a little scared of Phil, understandably.

24 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:48 pm

Damn. Just missed a homer. Good carry that way.

25 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:53 pm

Make 'im pay, Centaur.

26 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:54 pm

Well that was quite the rocket through the hole. ; )

27 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:54 pm

Ha!

28 rbj   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:55 pm

Huzzah!

29 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:55 pm

[26] What a majestic way to move up to #6 on the RBI list.

30 rbj   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:57 pm

I'll take it.

31 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:57 pm

Bad arm in left. WTF is Alex doing? Oh, well. 2 runs is nice.

32 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 6:57 pm

Oy.
But, got the run.

33 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:01 pm

I blame A-Rod.

34 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:02 pm

I've seen Bryce in a limited number of games this year. But I have seen him play all 3 outfield positions.

35 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:05 pm

Hope I don't get in trouble for linking this: http://dailycaller.com/2012/06/15/bryce-harper-conservative-hero/

"Interesting" interpretation of Bryce Harper's skills! :)

36 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:06 pm

Hoo boy.

37 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:07 pm

When he the bater can't catch your fastball. Don't fucking hand an 0-2 curveball. STUPID!

38 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:08 pm

DAMMIT. 0-2 fat pitch, hate that.

39 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:09 pm

That's more like it.
Even without Rob! Who is that guy???

40 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:09 pm

[37] I'll just pretend I didn't type that sentence. bater = batter, hand = hang. and he the don't go together. oi!

41 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:14 pm

Come on, Jason, let's get on and clear Hughes for next inning!

42 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:19 pm

Maybe dorky but I dig the Presidents Race.

43 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:22 pm

Damn! We don't lose as much at second as I thought we would.

44 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:28 pm

[4] yeah, whew! i was checking everywhere when this post went up, but there was no news yet. so i went to my studio for awhile...

so - is CC lined up to pitch Monday? i'm going to The Stadium. really wanted to see Andy. missed him here in Atlanta and will miss him again next week. CC would be great!

braves up 1-0 over ball-tumor, in the 3rd. chip 'fister' caray is as insufferable as usual. the 'info' on peachtree tv says: MLB Baseball - New York Yankees at Atlanta. the "Baseball" is redundant after MLB and i guess they're trying to get people to watch. stands here were packed Mon-Wed.

45 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:31 pm

[44] thelarmis! Took part in a long "Tony Williams was amazing" chat yesterday, thought of you.

"Major League Baseball Baseball", that's funny.

46 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:33 pm

[45] nice, man! as Vinnie Colaiuta says: "Tony Williams was the genius of the drums. He's my hero."

considering that Vincenzo is the pinnacle of drumming, that's high - and accurate - praise.

47 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:34 pm

Cole Hamels is such a DickWeed for doing that.

48 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:35 pm

[44] I think Nova should be Monday...

49 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:37 pm

[48] according to lohud, nova is sunday. hughes today, andy tomorrow. hiroki just went, so i'm thinking it's CC.

i'd love it if it were Mikey Moose!

50 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:38 pm

[49] Hey yeah! I lost count there somehow.

Geez, Phil had this turkey struck out on pitch three. Oh well.

51 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:38 pm

7 k's thru 5 for hughes!

52 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:38 pm

Ah, it all worked out! Phil is getting stronger, looks like.

53 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:39 pm

79 pitches.

[50] there's a drummer joke in there...

54 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:39 pm

I will never understand why when Hughes goes 0-2 he throws three waste pitches

55 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:40 pm

[54] He didn't. He threw a strike on the third pitch, but it was called wrong.

56 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:44 pm

tons of bad calls by the home plate ump in atlanta.

chipper up, bases loaded, 1 out. 3 walks preceded this AB...

double play.

57 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:52 pm

oreo's now leading the bravos 2-1.

lotsa junk food here in hotlanta...

58 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:54 pm

looked good on mlb "baseball" dot com.

59 RIYank   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:57 pm

I'm abandoning you and the Yanks, because saxophone son is home and we're going to catch some jazz.

60 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 7:58 pm

enjoy, RI!

i'm goin' to catch some jazz in NYC tomorrow night : )

61 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:01 pm

Great job Phil!

62 Chyll Will   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:01 pm

[37] Was he a master of the curve?

[45],[53] Listened to Lenny White talk about his idol on NPR last night, gonna groove his stuff on Youtube at work tomorrow...

63 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:02 pm

Ah, man, Russ missed a fat one.

70 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:09 pm

Way to hang in, Russell!

71 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:10 pm

Way to work the count full.

72 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:11 pm

will robbie be the pinch hitter?!

73 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:11 pm

Nice. Now, bunt 'em over, and Cano pinch hits. Walk him and load the bases for DJ...

74 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:12 pm

Actually Chavez, probably if he'll be walked.

75 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:12 pm

Boy, Zimmerman is smooth, isn't he? Pleasure to watch that guy field.

76 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:13 pm

What do I know, here's Cano. No chance they pitch to him. If they do, they'll regret it.

77 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:13 pm

we better cash these guys in.

78 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:14 pm

Missed the 1-1 pitch. That was fat.

82 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:17 pm

Full count. Oh, the drama...

83 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:17 pm

AJax: .325 .408 .563 .971

97 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:50 pm

So.... can someone tell me the different between NEW (very good) Highes and OLD (frustrating, inconsistant, no too good) Hughes?

It seems he's throwing more strikes, not nibbling but challenging. Is that it?

98 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:54 pm

20 homers for curtis!

99 thelarmis   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:56 pm

chief to pitch the 9th?

seems like it's been ages since he threw...

100 NYYfan22   ~  Jun 15, 2012 8:57 pm

hello all. I'm at work and have been half-listening via mlb.com.
