Angels with Dirty Faces

Yanks host the dreaded Angels this weekend. It will be fun watching Mr. Trout. The rest of ’em can go to hell.

Two-out-of-three, two-out-of-three, two-out-of-three.

It’s Hiroki vs. the happy-go-lucky C.J. Wilson.

Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Mark Teixeira 1B
Robinson Cano 2B
Nick Swisher RF
Andruw Jones LF
Russell Martin C
Jayson Nix DH

Never mind the layoff:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

p.s. According to Marc Carig: “OF Kosuke Fukudome signed to a minor league contract. He is anticipated to report to Triple-A SWB over the weekend.”

5 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 13, 2012 3:43 pm

It's only been a few days but really, it's nice to have games again.

Holy Jonesing! My folks were in Florida a few years back on vacation. The first story my dad told my when they came back had him laughing all over again. My mom saw a dude in a jersey and said she couldn't believe someone would wear something so offensive. My dad had to tell her he played for the Cubs. Fuckudome, indeed. Ha!

7 rbj   ~  Jul 13, 2012 6:02 pm

Yay, baseball!

8 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 6:13 pm

Good punch out. Sit down, Albert!

9 OldYanksFan   ~  Jul 13, 2012 6:13 pm

Teix better on D then Tino, yes?

10 rbj   ~  Jul 13, 2012 6:13 pm

Nice quick inning.

11 rbj   ~  Jul 13, 2012 6:26 pm

Trout took the bait and got the hook there.

12 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 6:38 pm

Don't think. Hit!

13 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 6:43 pm

[8] That lay out by Teix was none too shabby. : )

14 rbj   ~  Jul 13, 2012 6:44 pm

Good thing bases were empty.

15 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 13, 2012 6:53 pm

Any one else having problems with MLB? I'm getting a "This Game Will Begin Shortly" message.

16 thelarmis   ~  Jul 13, 2012 6:56 pm

great, we're being no-hit and boston is already shutting out tampon.

c'mon cap, get #3,200!

17 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 6:59 pm

Atta boy, Teix!

18 thelarmis   ~  Jul 13, 2012 7:05 pm

ah, MUCH better!!! : )

congrats, jete!

19 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 13, 2012 7:17 pm

It's back.

Jonesy! Never seen him argue like that.

20 rbj   ~  Jul 13, 2012 7:39 pm

Trout chose poorly.

21 rbj   ~  Jul 13, 2012 7:43 pm

A combined $400+ million of failure there.

22 OldYanksFan   ~  Jul 13, 2012 7:45 pm

I'm a big ARod fan, but the guy looks like shit. Really Bad.

23 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 7:50 pm

HBP. Ungood. : (

24 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 7:52 pm

Ugh.

25 rbj   ~  Jul 13, 2012 7:55 pm

Not getting Curtis in after a gift lead off triple looms large now.

26 OldYanksFan   ~  Jul 13, 2012 7:55 pm

Karmic return on not scoring with a man on 3rd, no outs, and our 3-4-5 up. And we have done this MANY times. I'm not sure how a team with the best record in MLB can suck this much. Or is it I'm not sure how a team that sucks this much can have the best record in MLB.

27 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 7:58 pm

Oh, hey. I missed the lead off triple and 3 sad outs. Give me a fucking break!

28 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:08 pm

[25] How true. You can't blame Kuroda for giving up the lead. No excuse that Tex or Arod (oh Arod) could not put a fly ball up, or at least a grounder to second. At least Robinson hit the ball hard.

Pitching, and a lot of luck has this team 7 games in front, plus every other AL east team has gaping holes this year.

I hate the Angels (but their players are more likable this year). Fuggin Yankee killers, and it seems the Yankees always start the second half against them. Hopefully the Yanks can come back tonight.

29 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:14 pm

Second verse. Same as the first.

30 rbj   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:14 pm

Sigh.

31 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:23 pm

Thanks Laz...

32 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:23 pm

Fucking angels!

33 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:25 pm

Even if Swish caught that, Trout would have scored. It has to stop now.

34 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:35 pm

Great catch by Swish and nice second half start for Jetes.

35 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:39 pm

Hell yeah!

36 rbj   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:40 pm

Yes!

37 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:40 pm

How great is that! Yay Tex!

38 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:42 pm

Ok, now that the game is tied, just another run, please (it doesn't have to be a bomb).

39 rbj   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:53 pm

Imagine having gotten Curtis in. Sorry, I realize that you can't predict baseball and things would be different, but damn, lead off triples should get home. I hate when they don't

40 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:54 pm

That's what I'm talking about!

41 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:56 pm

Russell Martin! Could be the biggest hit of his few this year!

42 RIYank   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:56 pm

Russell with the Muscle!

43 rbj   ~  Jul 13, 2012 8:57 pm

And now it's Mo time! Oh, wait. . .

I hate this.

44 OldYanksFan   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:00 pm

Man... watching this team is like having your child being a genius but coming home with all B's on their report card. Should you be proud or disappointed?

45 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:01 pm

Damn! Nearly spun himself in the ground swinging at strike 3.

46 RIYank   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:01 pm

[42] Wow, and you said that at comment #42. Brings a tear to my eye.

But you know his recovery is going extremely well, right?

47 RIYank   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:02 pm

One down.

[43] Wait, why is being the best team in baseball like getting all B's? Did the valedictorian in your school get all B's?

48 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:03 pm

[43] If your he or she aces the finals and the college boards, isn't that enough?

49 RIYank   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:05 pm

[47] (Are those the playoffs and WS? I'm having trouble with this metaphor.)

50 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:06 pm

Yes, and sorry, I have a 17 year old.

51 OldYanksFan   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:07 pm

[46] The Yanks have a lot of A's, but their RISP drags their average to a B. This man-on-third, no out, and not scoring thing is getting old. Teix turning back into a monster helps offset that, but in the PS, we may not get away with squandering SO MANY EASY opportunities.

52 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:08 pm

That's good Scioscia baseball!
Great Win. Martin the 2nd half MVP. : )

53 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:08 pm

Huge win! The kind of game that the Angels usually win against the Yanks.

54 OldYanksFan   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:09 pm

But.............
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark Teixiera Wins
Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankees Win

55 RIYank   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:09 pm

[50] Baseball is hard. The Yankees aren't perfect; they're only the best.

56 RIYank   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:09 pm

Nice.
Excellent game for Russell! And Teix.

57 OldYanksFan   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:10 pm

Anyone else more worried about the Sox than TB?

58 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 13, 2012 9:10 pm

I like how Jeter blocked the base there. Nice to foil the Angel's aggressive base running by ending the game.
