2 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 5:49 pm

I like watching Heather O'Reilly.
Just sayin', before the whole baseball thing starts this evening.
Megan Rapinoe is okay by me, too. And Alex Morgan. Yeah, I won't be watching baseball on Thursday.

Why is Grandy leading off again? I know, rhetorical question, but still...

4 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 6:25 pm

[2] Did you catch any of England's Heptathlon Gold Medal winner Jessica Ennis? She has been my favorite of this Olympics. Oh, and Go Yankees!

5 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 6:29 pm

Man, they need Hughes to be solid tonight. And that Score Truck, well, they are missing Alex these days...

6 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 6:34 pm

[4] Woooo.

7 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 6:38 pm

Nice start for Hughes.

8 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 6:40 pm

I've seen Phil throw at least 2 wickedly biting curveballs that are nowhere near the zone. Why oh why can't he locate that pitch better?

9 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 6:41 pm

[8] Baseball is hard.

10 seamus   ~  Aug 7, 2012 6:50 pm

c'mon hughesy!

11 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 6:57 pm

Way to go, Jetes...it's a start.

12 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 6:58 pm

Kerrrrrr-thud.

13 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:00 pm

Chavy!!!

14 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:00 pm

Wow. Seriously. Crazy homer.

15 rbj   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:01 pm

Yay, runs!

16 seamus   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:02 pm

way to go chavy!

17 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:02 pm

It had been 226 AB since Porcello had given up a dinger.

(I have the Tigger feed.)

18 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:02 pm

Man, he hit that well.

19 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:05 pm

Nice RIP, Swish. But he's hobbling.

20 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:06 pm

Huge foul territory.

21 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:09 pm

Yeah, that's Phil.
Okay, kid, suck it up.

22 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:10 pm

Christ, put it on a tee why don't ya'!

23 rbj   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:17 pm

Hughes tied for league lead in dingers with 26. Anyone surprised?

24 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:18 pm

Phil has thrown 66 pitches, 21 of the to Brennan Boesch.

25 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:23 pm

Another hanger.

26 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:23 pm

Fuck.

27 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:26 pm

If I hadn't completely given up on Phil Hughes as something special earlier this year, this would frustrate me more.

28 rbj   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:27 pm

Finally.

29 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:31 pm

Honest question. Do stat dudes track how many foul balls a pitcher has each game?

30 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:33 pm

[29] I'm sure there's a record, so it's just a matter of extracting the data.

31 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:39 pm

Wow, Hughes at almost 100 pitches in the 5th and he gave up a tater to Mig-Cab..I'm shocked.

32 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:43 pm

Another hanger. What a shitty start.

33 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:49 pm

[30] Thanks. I know swing and misses are charted. But I'd like to see if there's any correlation between how many foul balls a pitcher gets to how much he drives me crazy. : ) i.e. Phil Hughes.

34 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:50 pm

[33] Phoul Hughes has always bothered me, but much as his love of throwing multiple waste pitches for at bat

35 Jose Sarduy   ~  Aug 7, 2012 7:58 pm

The Yanks are starting to worry me

36 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:03 pm

[33] Yeah, for sure.
I remember early in Phil's career wondering whether he would have more success if some of his pitches were just a little easier to hit: a crappy grounder or weak fly instead of a foul.

37 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:04 pm

Anybody else pissed off yet?

38 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:08 pm

Pretty funny seeing Epply get hit in the head with that throw from Chavez.

39 rbj   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:09 pm

[37] A-yup. The Olympics are a nice distraction, especially with women's beach volley ball.

40 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:13 pm

39) Grrrrr. Lots of smiling in the Yankee dugout for a team that's been mediocre. I think players are just more cooled out than fans ever can be.

41 rbj   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:19 pm

[40] Yankees still in first in division -- are they tied for best record? Last two weeks have been a bit of a blur for me.

42 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:23 pm

[41] They are tied with the Rangers for best in AL. Couple of NL teams have better records. And the Rangers are whupping the BoSox tonight.

43 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:25 pm

Whoops, no longer whupping. Will Middlebrooks appears to have hit a 3-run homer, but they're reviewing it.

44 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:26 pm

Nice job by Ichiro. But one is not enough...RUSSELL I'm looking at you.

45 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:31 pm

[39] The 2 U.S. teams are going to face other. That'll be interesting. I'll root for the young underdogs.

46 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:32 pm

Even Miggy's outs are rockets.

47 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:37 pm

...Hey Fellas, how about one of those, you know, come from behind wins? For old time sake.

48 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:42 pm

I fucking hate the tigers.

49 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:42 pm

Jeter hit it hard, Cano hit a bullet.

No dice.

50 RIYank   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:42 pm

[47] We haven't come from behind in the ninth all season, have we? I don't think so.

51 seamus   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:44 pm

[50] no. they made a big deal of that stat a few games ago. no come from behind wins after the 8th all season.

52 rbj   ~  Aug 7, 2012 8:48 pm

[45] I gotta go with the old guard in one last hurrah. That's just me.

I'm just going to chalk the recent slide to the dog days of summer.

53 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 9:14 pm

I'd rather have coffee with my mother in law ever day than have to watch Valverde close out games on a nightly basis.

54 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 9:17 pm

Ichi with a crazy homer?

55 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 9:17 pm

C'mon, Ichiro!

56 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 9:20 pm

Nice hit.

57 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 9:20 pm

Russell magic?

58 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 9:21 pm

Fuck! I can't believe he didn't send Ichiro!

59 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 9:22 pm

Hit too hard for Ichiro to score. DAMN.

60 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 9:22 pm

Oooooohhhhhhh. He's probably would have been out by 60 feet. lol....

61 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 7, 2012 9:24 pm

Bollocks!

62 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 7, 2012 9:25 pm

Motherfucker. And watch the Orioles win now too.

63 OldYanksFan   ~  Aug 7, 2012 11:26 pm

Is this team in trouble with ARod (and others) out?

64 OldYanksFan   ~  Aug 7, 2012 11:28 pm

From RAB:
The Tuesday night loss to the Tigers was New York’s 12th loss in their last 18 games, and they’re just 2-10 against non-Mariners competition during that stretch.

65 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 8, 2012 6:01 am

I want Robby Thomson fired immediately. He is killing this team with his caution. He screwed the pooch again. Sometimes you can't win if you don't push the envelop.

66 RIYank   ~  Aug 8, 2012 6:23 am

Eric Chavez has an OPS of .829 this year. How many more runs would the Yankees be scoring with A-Rod (.809 this year) batting in his place?

Or were you thinking Alex might have pitched instead of Hughes? Now that I get.
