Things getting uglier in Boston, though Yankee fans will be pulling for the Sox against the O's this week: http://yhoo.it/NBJYnH

[1] i'm really not worried about the O's and their -49 run diff. i hope they sweep the shit sox and make them look really really bad in the process.

GO YANKS!!!

3 Jon DeRosa   ~  Aug 14, 2012 4:29 pm

[2] I'm with you. If the Red Sox could go from the best team in baseball in August 2011 to the worst team in September, why couldn't the 2012 team go from .500 in August to the best team in baseball in September? Go O's.

4 Jon DeRosa   ~  Aug 14, 2012 4:55 pm

On 8/13/78 the Yanks dropped a game to Baltimore and were 9 games back of the Red Sox. That was a team that had a fair share of negative media attention and an acrimonious clubhouse.

The Sox might well be cooked, but we can't know for certain right now.

[4] We can't be certain in baseball (Sterling's Law), but it's nuts to be more worried about the Red Sox than about the Rays, and wrong (though perhaps not nuts) to be more worried about the Red Sox than about the Orioles.

6 Jon DeRosa   ~  Aug 14, 2012 5:19 pm

[5] Definitely need to worry about the Rays over everybody else. I think the O's and Sox are about even for me.

I look at the other scores hoping first for a Rays loss, then a Rangers loss, then a Red Sox loss.

[1] Ha. It could not happen to a more deserving btreacherous organization. The players are the mirror of their backstabbing owners and management.

8 rbj   ~  Aug 14, 2012 6:12 pm

I'll take that double play. Not pretty, but got the job done.

[1] Just keep winning, and nothing else matters. The line-up tonight is a little anemic. Ichiro will no longer face lefties?

10 rbj   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:06 pm

rats.

11 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:09 pm

You think Granderson could take a pitch there? Harrison looks like he lost the strike zone. Not so Grandy lately.

12 OldYanksFan   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:17 pm

[11] Kind of slumping lately. OPS down to .813.

13 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:21 pm

Must score a run or two for Kuroda. He must feel as lonely as this game thread.

14 rbj   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:31 pm

Kuroda Is pitching well. Maybe a second night off for the pen?

15 OldYanksFan   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:37 pm

Maybe a night off for our bats?

16 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:42 pm

[15] Theirs too. Time to contact your Yankee fan friends.

17 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:42 pm

Atta boy, Kuroda. Step up Offense! WTF is wrong with you clowns!

18 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:43 pm

Don't mean to be picky but some runs would be nice.

19 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:44 pm

Nine more outs is a long way to go but if he gets through the seventh it'll be time to get goosed.

20 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:44 pm

Jeez, Andruw. One pitch. Not awesome.

21 randym77   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:47 pm

Thought there would be more comments for this game...

22 rbj   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:48 pm

[21] Comments will pick up, but don't want to say too much and jinx.

23 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:48 pm

I don't get Martin's at bat there. Swinging at the first pitch. That's just horseshit, man.

24 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:51 pm

Poof.

25 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:51 pm

Now get a double play.

26 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:54 pm

[19] O ye of little faith.

27 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:55 pm

Nice job of tagging up by Elvis there.

28 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:57 pm

[27] Motherfuck him AND John Wayne!

29 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 14, 2012 7:58 pm

[27] You gotta love a mother who names her baby Elvis.

30 rbj   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:01 pm

Now it's runs time. A 5 spot would be nice.

31 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:07 pm

That's it, Cap. Now a few more hits in a row. What a season from Jeter.

32 rbj   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:11 pm

Oh good, Nick's better side for home runs.

33 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:15 pm

[32] Cheers to that! SWISH!

34 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:16 pm

Now THAT was an at bat!

35 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:16 pm

What a great AB for Swisher. That ball went o GONE do.

36 rbj   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:16 pm

As I have foreseen. 3 more so Kuroda can cruise.

37 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:17 pm

[36] 12 more.

38 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:17 pm

On the Mark!

39 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:17 pm

Good times!

40 rbj   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:18 pm

Looking at the time stamps, a 5 minute AB for Nick.
Now only 2 more runs.

41 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:20 pm

Washington will get in trouble with Nolan Ryan, taking Harrison out of the game with only 106 pitches.

42 mhoward120   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:20 pm

Back to back
and belly to belly
chow down Texas
on my huge Hebrew Hammer!

43 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:25 pm

[42] Maybe you should have said "Deli" instead of hammer for rhyming purposes.

44 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:27 pm

That's funny. My9 promo: Who inspired Curtis Granderson to wear his socks so high?
Urkle?

45 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:28 pm

8 Solid!

46 mhoward120   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:32 pm

(43) The ladies love the Hammer, not the deli (note: the judges will accept salami as an alternative answer)

47 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:35 pm

So pleased for Hiroki. Now, just need three more outs.

48 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:36 pm

46) Keep it clean now, we do get Ladies in here...

49 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:40 pm

Way to go, Hiroki. Two more, Hoss.

50 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:42 pm

Ichi!

51 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:43 pm

Amazing how blank faced Kuroda is no matter what, huh? Wonder if he'll crack a smile...

52 rbj   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:43 pm

One more.

53 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:43 pm

My Hiro ♡♡♡!

54 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:44 pm

Wow. What a game. Clappitycplappityclappity!

55 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:44 pm

Yup, a smile. Great performance.

56 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:44 pm

That was one of the better pitched games I've seen in a while.

57 RIYank   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:46 pm

Awesome Hiroki.

I couldn't watch this game, damn.

And I'm out of town and didn't know about the Red Sox explosion. Holy shit. I don't like Bobby Valentine at all, but if the management caves to the players and dismisses or undercuts Bobby, the team will lose fans in droves. Serious.

58 randym77   ~  Aug 14, 2012 8:49 pm

Great performance. Especially against the team with the most runs scored in baseball.

59 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 14, 2012 9:11 pm

Amazing that he still is not getting great run support. Three is OK, but he deserves 4 or 5.

I wonder how that works. It's always one pitcher every year. It's not like the batters think, "Oh, Hiro's pitching, we can take the day off."

I hope he gets some blow-out support next game. Right now he's the ace.

60 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 14, 2012 9:12 pm

57) And on a night we want the Sox to win they are getting their asses handed to them...again.
