"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

Poppa Large

We’re expecting big things from C.C. Sabathia tonight. Not three runs over six or seven innings, more like one or two runs over eight.

No way around it. He’s their stud and he needs to perform accordingly.

Teix is back. The rain should clear up this evening so even if there is a delay, let’s hope they get ‘er in.

Derek Jeter SS
Nick Swisher RF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Alex Rodriguez DH
Robinson Cano 2B
Russell Martin C
Andruw Jones LF
Ichiro Suzuki CF
Jayson Nix 3B

Never mind the rain drops: Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Tesh is back.

Good.

2 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 8, 2012 5:53 pm

All about C.C. Dude needs to be The Man.

Yankee offense should be able to score some against Joe Saunders, I don't care how well he pitched against Toronto.

3 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:07 pm

Jeez, beautiful night for baseball, huh?

4 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:08 pm

Good start.

5 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:11 pm

There'll be lots of soft stuff from Saunders tonight.

6 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:12 pm

Nice hit and GREAT play by Jones to save a run.

7 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:13 pm

Let's go, Alex...

8 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:14 pm

Missed the 0-1 pitch, damn.

9 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:14 pm

Don't strike out, Alex.

10 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:17 pm

So nice having Mark & Alex back.

11 randym77   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:21 pm

Call me greedy, but I'm disappointed they only got one that inning.

12 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:23 pm

Anyone know anything about the TORNADO somewhere in NYC?

13 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:24 pm

[11] Agreed. I hate the O's in good times and in bad. But I gotta say, I like the Orange jerseys. Go figure. Sit down, Markakis!

14 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:35 pm

ICHI THE THRILLER!!!

15 joe   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:36 pm

Did anyone see Jones pop a bubble right before he botched that catch?

16 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:45 pm

Stop pitching to Mark Reynolds. Just plunk him every time.

17 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:45 pm

Seriously???

18 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:46 pm

I just turned on..is that a replay from th other night or did Reynolds homer AGAIN?

[12] What?!

19 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:47 pm

Lew Ford.

Remember that name, boys and girls, LEW FUCKING FORD.

20 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:48 pm

Hey, I wasn't going to show up here, but WTF???

Please put a stop to this bullshit right now.

21 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:48 pm

This is not the 2nd inning I was looking for.

22 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:50 pm

Lew Ford?? And now Wayne Tollenson's SON?!

24 randym77   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:54 pm

[12] Tornado inflicts damage on two New York City boroughs

Friend of mine was in the area. Apparently, not much damage done.

25 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 6:58 pm

Tremendous start for Dice-K this evening. Through two innings he's only given up 5 to the Jays.

26 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:00 pm

[25] Hmmmmmm........schadenfreude....

27 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:02 pm

IT'S TAYLOR TEAGARDEN. Don't walk him.

28 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:03 pm

[26] Ja!
Dice got four outs in the game. Aceves is pitching (I think Valentine is punishing him for something).

29 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:04 pm

[28] Are they really just torturing Bobby V at this point, making him finish the season?

30 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:08 pm

You gotta be kidding.

31 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:08 pm

Ace Failure. This is infuriating.

32 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:08 pm

[29] Nobody knows.

Last week when they were in Seattle, Ben Cherington showed up, and it was widely thought that he had come to fire BV or else to kick some player ass... but nothing much happened.

33 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:08 pm

OH FER FUCK'S SAKE!

34 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:09 pm

It's not really necessary to throw pitches in the strike zone when facing Adam Jones.

35 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:11 pm

Lew Ford is completely infuriating.

I'll be in a fucking state if they don't pound Joe Saunders.

36 randym77   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:13 pm

I just don't get it. The Orioles are playing way over their heads. They have a negative run differential, fer crissakes. They have to come back to earth eventually...don't they?

37 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:14 pm

I could really give a shit less about their run differential.

38 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:15 pm

Sauders with a shut down inning after his team takes the lead. Mo help me.

39 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:16 pm

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAND they've started to roll over.

40 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:17 pm

What has anything the Orioles do have to do with how horribly the Yankees' are doing in pissing away their lead?

41 Jose Sarduy   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:17 pm

wow C.C. gave up the lead quickly, I'm still waiting for him to become the Ace and go on a roll.

I hope for his sake, the Yanks and the fans, we don't have to wait to long.

42 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:18 pm

[40] Well, they're the team the Yanks are pissing the lead away to. So, that'd be what what they do has to do with it.

43 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:25 pm

Well Happy 30 anny to Doonie Baseball's MLB debut.

44 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:25 pm

And when this becomes about what the Orioles do, rather than what the Yankees don't, I'll be in 100% agreement ...

45 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:27 pm

Meanwhile, George is rolling over in his grave ...

46 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:30 pm

[44] Not exactly sure how to distinguish. Mark Reynolds hits lots of home runs. I would call that something the Orioles do. But, maybe not.

47 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:30 pm

We're gonna lose the division because no one can hit Joe Saunders.

Jesus fucking Christ

48 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:32 pm

2 run job for Swish here. C'mon for fuck's sake!

49 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:34 pm

Or a harmless F8. grumblefuckinggrumblefuckinggrumble

50 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:40 pm

Well, shit. That looked like it hurt.

51 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:41 pm

Fuck.

Hope he isn't hurt badly.

52 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:41 pm

I would have been pretty sure it hit his bat, if he hadn't left the game.

53 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:44 pm

Phew ... I thought that was going MUCH further off the bat ...

54 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:44 pm

Okay.

Here we go, four men reach this inning. Gotta happen.

55 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:46 pm

Hey, Yankees. It's Joe effing Saudners on the mound!

56 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:50 pm

Shit. Just missed that one, evidently.

57 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:50 pm

Alex just missed it.

58 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:53 pm

Okay, that's [54] two.

59 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:54 pm

And now the mighty Martin strides to the plate.

60 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:54 pm

Pinch run for Teix? His giddyup is still pretty gimpy.

61 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:55 pm

Rain dealy in Boston where the BJs lead 5-0. If the game is played, Boston probably ends up in last place.

62 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:57 pm

Jebus Pogo Jumping Teeny Tiny Christ ... Martin's approach at the plate pisses me the FUCK off ...

63 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:58 pm

What a terrible fucking at bat by Martin.

64 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 8, 2012 7:59 pm

Dear Russell,

FUCK.

YOU.

Sincerely,

Everyone

65 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:01 pm

Yeesh.

66 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:02 pm

Russell just isn't good at hitting.

What's more disturbing is how hopeless I personally felt when Curtis stepped to the plate.

67 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:04 pm

[66] What's happened to Curtis? Automatic K these days..where's that Kevin Long magic?

68 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:05 pm

Goddamn Fucking Orioles!! Damn, Ichiro almost nabbet that. Mad hops.

69 The Hawk   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:05 pm

Yeah that was ALMOST an amazing catch

70 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:07 pm

Binder time. Just wonderful, CC. FUCK!

71 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:08 pm

[67] All I know is, he's terrible. (And he must be costing himself tens of millions of dollars, huh?)

72 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:12 pm

Lou Ford and Joe Saunders. They're both just too good.

73 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:14 pm

It seems like ages since we got a CC W.

74 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:22 pm

This is fucking pathetic.

75 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:26 pm

Have to commend the Orioles. They way they have been able to revive Sandy Koufax is remarkable.

76 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:31 pm

I won't boo but I feel like it. What a stinker.

77 RIYank   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:32 pm

[75] Jim Palmer, don't you think?

78 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:40 pm

[77] Didn't he pitch the other night?

79 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:46 pm

Bullfuck. Ball 4.

80 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:48 pm

Alex is fired up.

81 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:53 pm

Atta boy, Russell. Let's go Curtis! FFS.

82 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:58 pm

Pop up to the catcher. Worthless.

83 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:58 pm

Jesus.... Grandy is useless these days.

84 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 8:58 pm

I'm not going to miss this version of Curtis.

85 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:01 pm

This may be old news but:
The Yankees activated Ivan Nova from the disabled list and relegated the right-hander to the bullpen.

Andy Pettitte moved closer to returning to the New York Yankees' rotation after throwing a successful simulated game Saturday.
Pettitte threw 45 pitches in three simulated innings and is scheduled to see doctors Monday to evaluate his fibula.

After throwing a bullpen session, Pettitte (3-3, 3.22 ERA) expects to throw another simulated game between Tuesday and Thursday in Boston.

The 40-year-old Pettitte could throw 60 pitches, and manager Joe Girardi would not rule out that the left-hander could pitch five days later, meaning he possibly could be on a mound at some point during the week of Sept. 17.

86 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:12 pm

Good start Ichi.

87 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:13 pm

Heere we go! Keep the line moving!

88 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:14 pm

Whoo-hoo Captain. That was a beaut.

89 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:14 pm

Six hits away from Willie

90 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:14 pm

Jeter for the bunt!

91 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:15 pm

IN THE AIR MARK

92 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:15 pm

How was that even close at first? Yikes.

93 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:16 pm

Not the worst outcome.

94 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:19 pm

MotherFUCKER!!!!!

95 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:19 pm

Dammit!

96 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:19 pm

Now after the replay I want to punch many things.

97 rbj   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:20 pm

He was so safe!

98 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:20 pm

Wow. Not even close.

99 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:21 pm

Human Element.
Sigh...

100 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 8, 2012 9:23 pm

I couldn't see. Was Teix definitely safe at first?
