"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

Talkin’ Bout Those Heebie Jeebies

We’ve talked a lot about the Yankees reaching rock bottom lately. Worst case scenario, they miss the playoffs. Worser case: the Red Sox knock them out. Boston has nothing to play for other than to inflict pain on the Yankees.

Three game series starts tonight in Boston and their ace, Jon Lester, is on the hill. The Yanks counter with Hiroki Kuroda who is due for a good start.

Never mind the paranoia: Let’s Go Yank-ees!

"The Conversation"!!! One of the best of all the 70s golden age films, and Hackman was incredible.

Let's Go Yankees!

2 bags   ~  Sep 11, 2012 5:46 pm

Funny. Just watched this three nights ago. Great movie. Loved Allen Garfield.

3 Greg G   ~  Sep 11, 2012 5:58 pm

I hope the Yanks come out a whoopin' and a stompin'.

4 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 11, 2012 6:15 pm

I really think we should sweep this series, 2 of 3 at very worst.

5 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 6:16 pm

Swisher with a ringing double Everybody drink!

6 RIYank   ~  Sep 11, 2012 6:19 pm

Hey, I was just going to watch this with some Sox fans (these are the hard core, serious), but just had to check in: the Red Sox are the cure for what ails Swish!

7 RIYank   ~  Sep 11, 2012 6:22 pm

Damn.
Remember when Lester used to be good?

8 RIYank   ~  Sep 11, 2012 6:25 pm

Oh, come on.

Seems like we deserved more.

9 RIYank   ~  Sep 11, 2012 6:32 pm

Whew.
And thanks, Bobby and Scotty, for the free out.

10 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 6:58 pm

Yanks sucking ass so far with the bats. C'MON.

11 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:00 pm

All of these wasted opportunities will wind up biting somebody in the ass.

12 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:00 pm

The Yankees are keeping Lester in this fucking game. You douche bags have got to be fucking kidding me.

13 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:04 pm

Siriaco is a the next gen Yankee Killa.

14 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:06 pm

Hiroki makes a mistake to start the inning and you know the Sox are tying it up here.

15 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:06 pm

Base hit through the shift. Book it.

16 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:07 pm

It's funny how Leiter has to defer to Cone for his every pitching observation.

17 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:08 pm

A flag is the best they could think of for 9/11. Gag. How about a little Twin Towers icon? The severed head of Bin Ladin?

18 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:08 pm

Kuroda getting squeezed>

19 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:09 pm

Another mistake by Kuroda.

20 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:10 pm

18) Ump is at least being fair. He's squeezed Lester, too.

21 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:12 pm

[20} If the ump is taking the edges away, then both teams will need at least 6 runs to win in this ol' time band box.

22 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:13 pm

So whadda ya think? Dusty drives him home?

23 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:13 pm

What in the hell, Martin?

24 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:13 pm

Pitch the ball Hiroki don't worry about the man on second.

25 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:14 pm

Dayum Alex, a little frothy tonight?

26 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:15 pm

And predictable too.

27 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:16 pm

A 2 out rbi for the little fucking pony. Who could have predicted. Fucking worthless Yankees offense wasting how many walks now? 5. What a joke.

28 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:16 pm

Get your head out of your fucking asses, fellas.

29 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:16 pm

25) Indeed I R.

30 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:16 pm

OK...score truck for Alex and the Yankees! Kuroda will settle down.

31 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:18 pm

Let's go Andruw.

32 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:19 pm

Man, the 3-1 pitch was his to hit. Now, Lester will put him away.

33 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:20 pm

Damn, Lester walking the house and they're still losing?? Weak...

34 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:20 pm

Nice. We'll take it. How about making it count, now.

35 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:20 pm

Andrew Jones should be shut down until the playoffs where the magic can begin again. Give a youngun a chance or at least Dickerson.

36 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:21 pm

[35] I know, Andruw

37 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:21 pm

Nice stache Lavarnway.

38 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:22 pm

No DP DJ...

39 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:22 pm

At least he hit it on the nose.

40 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:24 pm

Really with that fucking kid. Bloody hell!

41 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:24 pm

Robbed of a double. Great.

42 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:24 pm

Can someone hit one off that wall, please?

43 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:25 pm

This game is sucking.

44 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:26 pm

For those watching YES. I'm embarrassed for Eddie Money

45 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:27 pm

It is high. It is far. It is off my forehead. Cone making fun of Sterling is the highlight of the night.

46 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:29 pm

[45] Still laughing...

47 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:30 pm

Cone accurate in saying Hiroki doesn't have a crisp slider tonight.

48 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:31 pm

Lavarnway looks like Tom Brunansky's unshaven nutsack.

49 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:33 pm

I'll just do this once, because it's so stupid. "The record shows, he took the blows and did Lavarnway".

50 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:34 pm

Nice change up and good inning.

51 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:34 pm

Kuroda settling down. Good inning.

52 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:34 pm

Now that was refreshing.

53 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:38 pm

I guess the Yankees are done taking pitches.

54 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:39 pm

[53] They want to be sure Lester starts the 7th.

55 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:40 pm

How about a two out RBI now?

56 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:41 pm

I wish I had more than zero faith in Pearce.

57 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:41 pm

Lester will get him on the breaking ball.

58 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:42 pm

[56] Pearce with 2 strikes, Less than zero.

59 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:42 pm

Nice job, Yankees.

p.s. You guys blow.

60 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:43 pm

I hate our righties a lot more than I hate out lefties

61 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:43 pm

Horseshit!

62 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:46 pm

Hey, they got that sombitch out.

63 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:46 pm

[62] Yeah, but he smacked it hard.

64 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:47 pm

Don't walk this mook...

65 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:50 pm

I know the Yanks are losing, but I'm glad Kuroda is pitching right now.

66 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:51 pm

Orioles up 3-1, first and third, nobody out for them in the 5th...

67 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:52 pm

Let's go boys, start it off right...baserunners.

68 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:52 pm

5-1 O's...

69 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:53 pm

Okay, no DP Andruw...

70 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:53 pm

My first rule change when i become ruler of the world, and, of course, commissioner of baseball: if you square to bunt, it's a swing, whether or not you "pull it back."

71 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:53 pm

NOW is the TIME! Let's friggin' go already!

72 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:54 pm

[66] We should fear Tampa more, but the Yankees need space I want the Rays to win tonight.

73 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:54 pm

Lester is all over the place tonight and they got one lousy, stinkin' run..this will not stand!

74 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:55 pm

NOW...an RBI. Let's see it.

Do it. Do it.

75 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:56 pm

Yeah, sacrifice is fine. But now they've got to, you know, actually deliver.

76 rbj   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:57 pm

Uh oh, two on no outs. Now we won't score.

77 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:57 pm

I wonder what it's like when the pitching coach and manager don't talk? Nix sac, good.

78 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:57 pm

Keeps Jeets out of the double play.

79 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:57 pm

The Bob McClure story is reason 6546 that Bobby V is an asshole

80 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:58 pm

Don't swing at the garbage, Jeter. Hit a good one.

81 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:58 pm

He's gunna K Jeter now too.

82 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 7:59 pm

[79] What was that one?

83 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:00 pm

Hells yeah. Atta boy, Captain. We'll take it any way!

84 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:00 pm

Woohoo!

85 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:00 pm

[81] Nah.

86 rbj   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:00 pm

Well looky at that.

87 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:01 pm

That was so cheap.

We'll TAKE IT!

88 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:01 pm

Always trust the Captain!

89 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:01 pm

Jazz, I'm on my phone, so I can't see I'd that was for me. Anyway, McClure left the team for a family emergency and Bobby told the press he went in vacation

90 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:01 pm

Jeter has The Curse muscle memory.

91 RIYank   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:01 pm

I know everyone here was cursing, but my RSN buds were just waiting for the other shoe to drop. They are not at all surprised that Captain Intangibles was the one to drop it.

92 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:03 pm

C'mon, Swish. Time to put some money in the bank.

93 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:03 pm

Jeter hit a Pesky Pole style double.

94 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:05 pm

Not for nothing but those were some nasty pitches to Swish.

95 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:05 pm

Sorry, Michael, we love him, but Jeter is not having better season that either Cabrera or Trout. Not by a stretch.

96 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:06 pm

Alex is whiffing here, too.

97 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:06 pm

[89] Ah, got it. Love to see all that in the "best organization in baseball"!

98 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:06 pm

95) Amen.

99 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:07 pm

Predictable.

100 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:07 pm

[96] Nah, looking.

I have not been enjoying A-Rod's at bats tonight. Just sayin'.

102 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:09 pm

Hey Jazz, finally some great sleeping weather in Tokyo, huh? I slept like Lindbergh's Baby last night.

103 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:10 pm

Big inning for Hiroki.

104 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:11 pm

Little goddamn midget fuck

105 monkeypants   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:12 pm

[95][98] true, but don't be surprised if Jeter ends up with the MVP as a sort of lifetime achievement award. It won't be right, of course, but it very well could happen.

106 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:12 pm

Terrible job by Hiroki. Terrible.

107 RIYank   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:12 pm

Jeez, that was going so well for a while there.

But I'm confident of victory.

108 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:12 pm

[102] About time, too! I was able to get through the day yesterday without multiple changes of clothes and wash-ups.
Let's hook up for the playoffs (if you're not in Marathon Man mode.)

109 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:12 pm

105) I see your point but I don't think it'll happen. Trout's been too good.

110 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:13 pm

Will Ross go deep too?

111 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:15 pm

[106] Dayum, Kuroda was robbed of strike one against Pony. Mistake#1

112 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:15 pm

Robbie Cano: Fail.

113 monkeypants   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:15 pm

[105] actually, the blue jays announcers were just discussing Jeter (after they cut to highlihts from the yankees-sox game). After sort of joking that every day jeter seems to get two or hree hits, the announcers both agreed that jeter might just win the mvp. That is to sayit's not just michael kay---jeter is getting the necessary buzz from around the league.

114 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:15 pm

Now, Lavarnway gives them the lead.

115 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:16 pm

113) He'll get a lot of support that's for sure.

116 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:17 pm

[113] I really think there is no chance. Would be worse than Pacino getting his award for sayign "BOOOOO-Yahhh!" and not any of his great 70s films.
Well, at least Jeter is good this year, but it has to be Trout.

117 monkeypants   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:17 pm

109) i think it depends who wins the batting title. If jeter wins the BA title and leads the league in hits, and assuming teh yankees end up the playoffs, i'd put my money on jeter. I meanit's not like worser players haven't won the mvp (mauer) over players having clearly superior seasons.

118 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:18 pm

Battle of the bullpens...though I suspect they'll let Hiroki come out for the 7th, don't you?

119 monkeypants   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:19 pm

[117] grrr...i meant morneau, of course.

120 RIYank   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:20 pm

[118] Yes.

121 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:21 pm

[116] It has to be Miggy. ROY is enough for Trout.

122 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:23 pm

[121] I love Cabrera and he'll be in the HOF one day..but have you seen him play D? And Trout is Garry Maddox Jr out there in CF. He'll win both awards.

123 rbj   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:23 pm

Meh, it was a catcher running.

124 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:24 pm

[116] Or Scorsese winning for The Departed.

125 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:27 pm

[124] Blechhh! Horrible..hated that film. The original is such a classic. Tazawa-Ichiro battle! And 田沢は勝った!

126 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:28 pm

[122] No comparison to Trout in CF right now. And the dude has 45 SBs.

127 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:29 pm

Sgt Clark, getting ready for a golden gloves match? I wouldn't want to be stopped on the Mass Pike by that trooper.

129 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:32 pm

130 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:32 pm

131 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:33 pm

Great fucking job there Russ. Just a fucking beauty.

132 rbj   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:34 pm

[128] That's clown baseball.

133 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:34 pm

I'm not even sure what Martin did to get an error there. I just assume he got one for being a dumb shit. Which is fine with me.

134 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:34 pm

This is a moment for Kuroda. Let's see if he can rise above it.

135 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:37 pm

141 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:41 pm

WTF!

142 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:42 pm

Holy Horse Shit, Swisher. You fucking knucklehead.

143 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:43 pm

If Joba can't get out Scott Podsednik..I predict profanity on the Banter.

144 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:43 pm

Should have left Kuroda in.

But, 99.9% of the time, that is the 2nd baseman's ball and you can't blame Boone. WTF Swish?

145 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:43 pm

[125] As long as I live I'll never understand that award. That wasn't even one of Scorsese's best five movies.

146 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:44 pm

[144] Lifetime Achievement award, really.

147 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:45 pm

152 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:46 pm

Oh hell.

"Dustin Pedroia and the Seven Dwarfs doesn't really work."

"The Dwarf and Eight Snow Whites?"

153 rbj   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:47 pm

Joba!

154 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:47 pm

Exhale. Whoo boy.

155 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:50 pm

[145] Yes, at the expense of those who actually produced great movies that year.

156 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:51 pm

Not for nothing but Jones is paid to hit homers off guys like this.

157 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:52 pm

[155] Thinking the same thing. At least hit the fucking wall.

[154]Clint Eastwood – Letters from Iwo Jima
Stephen Frears – The Queen
Alejandro González Iñárritu – Babel
Paul Greengrass – United 93

I really don't see anyone that was terribly robbed. Just look at it like they counted the votes for Raging Bull 26 years later

162 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:56 pm

Come-on, guys. Win this in regulation.

163 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:58 pm

[160] Yeah, correct. I just checked, myself. Given the nominations nothing really stands out.

Maybe Babel. I didn't see The Queen. Still haven't seen Little Miss Sunshine, but it seemed to be a darkhorse favorite.

164 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 8:59 pm

[160] After Clint's latest performance, he's ready for the Harvey revival, with a twist.

[162] Wait. I saw The Queen. Not my style.

166 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:00 pm

Great job by Robertson on Ross.

167 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:01 pm

158) Here Here!

168 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:02 pm

[162] The Queen was quite good, and she certainly deserved the Oscar. But not so good that I was up in arms that it didn't win for best director.

169 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:02 pm

Booh-ya!

170 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:02 pm

C'mon you Mutts, the bullpen is not meant for extra innings. Top of the order. One run and get it to Soriano. You CAN DO IT!!

171 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:06 pm

O's up 9-2.

172 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:07 pm

Dammit. I thought Jeter's liner would curve around the pole.

173 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:08 pm

Nice, Swish. C'mon ALEX.

174 rbj   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:09 pm

Um, so who's going to play first?

175 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:11 pm

Fucking worthless. C'mon!

176 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:11 pm

If Eduardo doesn't steal, he's completely useless to this team

177 rbj   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:12 pm

Oh great, a play. A tragedy.

178 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:12 pm

[173] Chavez

179 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:12 pm

A-Rod looked absolutely awful in that AB

180 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:13 pm

Fucking horseshit, Alex.

181 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:13 pm

FAIL

182 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:14 pm

Hey, anyone else see this night ending badly. It's felt that way since they scored one fucking run in the first inning.

183 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:14 pm

[178] It's amazing how bad one of the greatest hitters of all time can look on a regular basis.

184 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:15 pm

Aw fuck. McGehee

185 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:15 pm

He went

186 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:19 pm

Jesus motherfucking Christ its Pedro fucking Ciriaco. Someone on this godamned fucking cocksucking team needs to be able to get him out

187 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:19 pm

This is like Chinese Water Torture.

188 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:20 pm

So ... just finished watching the US beat Jamaica 1-0 ... 3-3, huh?

What'd I miss?

189 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:21 pm

[187]Frustration.

190 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:21 pm

[188] Nope, actually got quite a lot of that in the US v Jamaica match ...

191 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:22 pm

Man, the Alabama Hamma seems a foot or so short on his fastball these days ...

192 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:24 pm

This is rock bottom.

193 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:25 pm

So ... I missed anything good and showed up just in time for a shit sandwich.

Awesome.

This team needs an enema ...

194 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:25 pm

This team absolutely 100 percent deserves to miss the playoffs. Another terrible loss against an awful team.

195 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:26 pm

boo

196 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:26 pm

Ball Fucking Saxbury.

197 The Hawk   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:27 pm

I had a bad feeling going into the bottom of the ninth. The weird thing is, only Ellsbury's was a decent hit. I deem Robertson unlucky tonight.

198 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:27 pm

They're acting like they just won the World Series. Sit the fuck down, losers.

199 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:28 pm

Another wasted morning. Sigh...

200 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:29 pm

I fucking hate this team. With a fiery, angry passion. Miserable, boring bullshit team to watch with the worst manager in baseball constantly rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

When the fuck was the last time they even won two games in a row? It has to be a month.

197) They did just win their World Series.

202 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:30 pm

[196] Long, long LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG past the point of moral victories

203 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:33 pm

[200] And we lost ours.

204 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:34 pm

[201] I'm kind of with you. There's really no way around it. Old, inury-ravaged team that blew a huge divison lead to the freakin' Orioles.

205 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:37 pm

[203] Don't forget that we're led by the brave and honorable Edward Smith. Constantly rearranging deck chairs

206 The Hawk   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:37 pm

[201] I don't consider it a victory. I was just prepared to hate Robertson but I don't.

207 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:40 pm

People always say losing Mariano was not a big deal because Soriano has been so effective..but that's ignoring the fact they still lost an almost guranteed excellent 70 innings from the pen. Now there's a great Soriano to close it but an ineeficitve D-Rob and then the Bullpen Rouxlette Dancers behind him...

208 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:46 pm

[206] How did losing Mariano hurt D-Rob? Actually, the bullpen has been fantastic for most of the year, including D-Rob. This game was lost by the batters, IMHO. Seven walks and 3 runs? WTF!

209 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 11, 2012 9:55 pm

The 2 best batters on the Sox have a .857 OPS and an .808 OPS. That's their two BEST! And yet, we pound out all of 6 hits... against 7 walks?

I'm not sure why I want to make the PS so badly.
This team will only disgrace us in front of a national audience.
