Early for a game thread but what the hell?
There’s no lineup change for Alex Rodriguez and the Yanks but Eric Chavez is playing third and batting ninth.
Derek Jeter SS
Ichiro Suzuki LF
Alex Rodriguez DH
Robinson Cano 2B
Nick Swisher RF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Curtis Granderson CF
Russell Martin C
Eric Chavez 3B
RHP Hiroki Kuroda
Never mind those pesky boids: LET’S GO YANK-EES!

I'm not sure I like seeing the DH any place outside of the nine hole.
The broad perception of Rodriguez right now is that he can't hit even an average fastball of 91-92 mph -- unless he guesses right and gets his swing started a little sooner and manages to time the pitch. As one rival scout said, "He's making 91 mph look like 99 mph" with the way he's swinging the bat.
It's true. It's like he can only foul off the mistake pitches he used to drive. Hey, so long as he can get some hits, keep shit moving, they'll be okay.
Wanna see a pitch that is simply IMPOSSIBLE to hit?
http://www.yankeeanalysts.com/2012/10/nothing-to-see-here-except-david-robertson-victimizing-mark-reynolds-45837
[4] That was sweet. I remember the dickheads in the booth mentioning they were surprised Robertson was throwing so many curveballs. There ya' go. I noticed Dave having new flourish at the end of that pitch you linked. Like a pool player trying to get extra masse' on the ball. Good stuff.
Hm, why exactly is Eric playing third? Because he's a better fielder (not)? Or some other enigmatic reason?
[6] Girardi would say it's to give A-Rod half a day off, but really he's probably doing that as a half-assed response to all the criticism and uproar the media and call-in fans have made over the last 2 days. I dunno.
I do like seeing Chavez batting 9th against this guy, though. He's had some success against him.
[6] Well... in his day Chavy was a much better fielder than ARod (is at 3rd base). Even now he might be better, but is probably at least as good.
Hm. If true, [8] is a good reason (but I'm skeptical). But [7] those are terrible reasons so I hope neither of them is the actual one.
Giants are spankin' some booty in CinCinNati, Lincecum with 4.1 solid relief. Looks like Game 5 ahoy.
Well, here we go.
I hope the Yankees score 8 runs tonight. That seems to be the theme today.
[9] Basically it's a push. It gets Chavy some action, and ARod a bit of rest, which probably isn't necessary, but what do I know.
Girardi is 2 games away from Golf. I really don't think he is concerned [7] about the talking heads.
Gosh, first time tuning in to TBS..they're already awful..who is doing play-by-play, his voice is incredibly annoying..
Kuroda cannot have a shitty 1st
He came off the bag! Out!!
well there ya go -- John Sterling: "The Yankees lose nothing playing Chavez at third".
Thank God for Cap'n HeadsUp
Yay!
More plays, Buck! Put in more plays!
Oksy. Score eight runs now pleas.
There's a break.
[17] See, that's disconcerting, Old Yankee Fan. Do you want to recant [8]?
Nice play, DJ (nudge, nudge).
[22] Then he went on to say that by sitting A-Rod defensively maybe he can rest his mind.
[24] Profound.
John is the most interesting man in the world.
That was feeble.
Ok, get comfortable now, Hiroki. Mow 'em down.
[22] No.... I recan it.
[28] Maybe you should just can it.
Nice.
Hiroki looks okie dokie.
Chavez Won the Gold Glove at 3rd Base in 2001.
...
And 2002
And 2003
And 2004
And 2005
And 2006
Aside from thar, he's a lousy fielder.
Gold jacket, green jacket... who gives a shit?
[32] Quiz question: what well-known infielder won Gold Gloves in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2010?
Follow-up: is that infielder a great fielder?
Goddammit, Mark.
DJ's throws are becoming a minor adventure. LOL
Whoa.
I didn't know Phil Hughes was pitching tonight. Looks like Kuroda.
fuck.
Crud.
Hey, if we can't get one run back against a rookie in the playoffs, we deserve to be out
Chavy Career URZ/150: 4.6
Jeter Career URZ/150: -6.5
ARod(3B) Career URZ/150: -1.5
Hiroki getting squeezed.
[34] Jeter
Follow up: see [36]
Join the quiet Smoltz and STFU!
[42] He is. Both of the first two pitches to Hardy were in the strike zone.
Uh, oh. A double.
Nice rip, Russell. Now, bring his ass HOME. This is not a request but an ORDER.
Productive!
[48] and a little unlucky.
C'mon Cappy...
Hot fucking Damn. CAPTAIN!
YES!
Cap'n!
O cap, my cap
Man, Jones look like he botched that.
Excellent.
Wow, bad read by Jones?
C'mon, base hit.
Nice bubble, though, Jones. Thanks for keeping the inning alive.
57) Yes. It carried on him.
What happened there? Adam jones was too busy blowing bubbles, he should have had that, but we'll take the Jeter triple. Nice.
bout time he did something Jeterian!
It looked like a regular fly ball but the wind took it.
[47] Derek will be your waiter tonight and take your order.
Dag.
Okay, Hiroki. Smooth, baby, Smooth.
Oh, come on.
No lead off walks allowed.
Come ON BLUE!
DAMMIT.
At least a couple of those were strikes. Dammit.
[6] mlb.com shows ball 3 a strike but the others were balls.
Motherfuck.
This feels real bad
Not good.
ALDS MVP: Russell Martin
ALDS Silver Slugger: Russell Martin
ALDS Clutch Batter: Russell Martin
ALDS Most Pussy: Derek Jeter
Okay, that's one out. Now turn two.
Good. Now a double play so the good guys can hit.
c'mon Kuroda. Cool out man.
2-0, uh oh.
Anyone else remember Thome's grand slam against Andy in Game 6 of the 1998 ALDS?
Got away with one there.
(79) Sorry, ALCS
Two.
Shit. With that dinosaur running they only get 1. Bollocks. Bad throw, Mark!
Jim Thome: JUST TOO FAST to double up!
I know that's not the reason, but its funny.
This could be trouble.
And it is.
Aw fuck.
Hope his elbow is broke
Not worried.
[88] That's not nice.
Get out of this!
Bear Down, Hiroki.
Jeter is gimping pretty badly.
[88] Bzzzzzzt.
Kansas City Comment.
BZZZZZZZZT.
Finally, a call.
Me likey. Runs now please.
Our Hiro
O-tay!
Hm, I just flipped up Gameday (to see whether those pitches are really in the strike zone), and for some reason it isn't showing the name of the batter.
Houdini!
fuckin A
[89] See?
Let's go, Alex. Little Bingo here, Papi.
Go Boom Alex
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
[103] [104] You're confusing him.
That probably could have gone better, Alex.
U.G.H.
That pitch was right there. God fucking dammit.
[103][104] More bingo than boom boom.
Well, Alex is only getting sorta booed.
He looks dreadful up there, though.
[111] Regardless of what happens tonight, I think he's hitting elsewhere tomorrow.
Grrrrr.
That was terrible.
[112] DH and moved down in the order, or just moved down? Place your bets..
Make 'em work. Good work team. : (
112) Has to. He let a great pitch go by without offering and then whiffed on another decent one. Cal said he's "in between" and that's right.
[112] BTW, I disagree. Batting 3rd at 3B, methinks.
We only have 5 more years.. it'll fly by.
Next spring, when everyone gets back from the fucking Bud Games, we really need to consider bringing in a changeup guy to throw to the Yankees. Like when they used to bring in Charlie Hough before they faced Wakefield.
I think it's quite possible that against a RHP, Girardi might play Chavy at 3rd and DH IBanez. Right now, ARod is cooked.
Joe could help ARod save face by blaming it on his hand (which may actually be the problem).
Mother fucker.
Oh no.
Fugh.
2 first pitch sliders, 2 dingers.
This team is screwed.
Machado #13, 3B goes Boom Boom.
Sigh..
It is Hughes pitching. I knew it. It just looks like Kuroda.
[117] It's hard to see well enough to hit when you're H.U.A.
Head Up Ass.
Still, I have a feeling tonight's game's failure, if there is one, is going to be Kuroda, but rather on another pathetic display from the offense.
Need to tie it here.
I do believe this kid (20 years old) Manny Machado is going to be an excellent ballplayer for Baltimore for years to come.
[129] Errr, isn't going to be primarily on Kuroda, that is ...
[132] I really don't think he's been bad
Well that is what not do on 3-1. Next.
Teixiera pop up. Safe to assume it was on the change?
Last year you could at least make the argument for Detroit's pitching. Yankees middle of the order has been totally shutdown by some mediocre pitching this year.
Who inspires less confidence- granderson or arod?
[137] Yes.
MVP!
Orioles are exploiting the Yankees' greatest weakness - mediocre pitching. They have a habit of making these guys look like Cy Young.
[137] I believe that Granderson might run into one.
Probably not, but it could happen.
[140] And mediocre pitching with a changeup at that.
Russell as the most successful hitter = bad news.
[141] You're just saying that because he's a lefty facing a righty, and Alex is a righty.
Cal - "Looking at the stats, this is the one guy [Chavez] that Gonzalez wants to be careful with."
What does that say about our supposedly vaunted offense?
Alex seems confused and distressed by this game occurring in front of him.
[143] Yeah, not exactly a blueprint for success.
This offense fucking sucks.
Needless to say, that was Ball Four.
[144]Well, of course. If five years of Joe Girardi have taught me anything, its that no batter has ever gotten a hit of a same handed pitcher.
I am so not in the fucking mood to watch Phil Hughes' act in an elimination game.
[149] Needless to say, this game is Ball Saxbury ...
This is brutal....yet it also feels awfully familiar
On the bright side, our bullpen figures to be well rested for Spring Training.
[154] r-e-s-t-i-n-g
Huroki is heating up.
[154] I really, really don't want to see mixing and matching tonight, so I don't mind.
CAN WE SCORE SOME FUCKING RUNS NOW?
I'm not feeling like a Negative Neddy this morning, Yanks will come back to take this one. This Gonzalez kid is
good but not THIS good. Score Truck is on the way!
Our pitching has been solid, but the offense is....somewhere else.
[159] He's a career minor leaguer that needs reality to come crashing down.
Big inning. I'm feelin' it.
Third time through - now or never........
Jeterian!
Way to Go DJ!!!!
Jeter's certainly doing his part.
Please...no bunting.
Okay!
Here we go.
Alright guys, this is our inning.
Knock this nobody out.
Jesus, Jeter can barely run.
Dang. Jeter's not running too good.
Holy Crap, Jeter CANNOT run..they should pinch run for him.
Yikes, Jeter is running like shit.
Fuck.
[172] Ichiro took care of that.
Crap.
Derek's not looking too healthy out there.
[172] You know who it would be.
172) For who? Nunez? C'mon now.
Good job, Ichiro -now we have to hope Robbie comes up with a 2-out hit
[170][171][172][173][176] I sense a theme ...
So, what is the general opinion of Bronx Banter: is Jeter running at full speed?
[177] The Thing That Should Not Be?
[181] Hard to tell, with his lolligagging and cadillacing.
Run into one you struggling sob.
[183] Uh, not all of us speak Canadian.
[182] If they put him in to run and replaced him with Nix, I'd be fine.
That was a swing? Maybe.
Oh dear fucking god. Nice swing.
What is that now? Seven strikeouts in three games?
Robinson Canobiwan, you are our only hope.
Never disliked a Yankee as much as I dislike Arod....and I remember '09. He is just the worst
PAY ATTENTION ROB.
Oh, Alex is lost right now.
[191] Felix Heredia? Kyle Farnsworth? AJ Burnett?
Well, Koufax Tuesday night and Pedro tonight. At least Alex will bat in the 9th at this rate. Hurray.
Sigh.
Oh, Robbie.
At least Jeter is trying.
Career mediocrity Jason Hammel, career minor leaguer Miguel Gonzalez and Wei-Yin Chen.
UNHITTABLE.
[194] CARL PAVANO?
Well, they are all trying. Jeter got a triple because Adam Jones screwed up and a Luis Sojo million hopper.
Can Sabathia go tomorrow if necessary?
This is fucking embarrassing.
When Phil Hughes pisses all over himself tomorrow, I want changes for next year.
[202] Joe already nixed it.
[201] Of course they're trying. I was being facetious. Succeeding? That's another story.
Tell that asshole in the first row to sit the fuck down. Jesus.
191 ...nope.......kevin brown is a close second. I know it's not rational but I never .liked him to begin with and feel like I've been forced to root for him cuz of uniform. Now he is declining but my expectations are the same and it's just an ugly mix.....
205) Lol. True, true.
Jeter looking worse than awful out there. Limping and grimacing in between pitches.
207) Welp, at least you're not alone. I love rooting for him but he's the most disliked great Yankee of our time, more than Winnie, even more than Buck Tater himself.
P.s new here...not sure how you guys are getting the link original comment when you reply
Dude, three innings, two runs? This can be done. They haven't shown us any life but fuck that: LET'S GO SCORETRUCK!
Kuroda's made a couple of mistakes, but once again he's pitched a fine game with very little support. Let's see if the bats wake up this inning.
[211] use square brackets.
[150] Everyone aside from Teix, Jeter and Martin are batting under .250, and you blame Girardi?
What alex said. I want to be optimistic here.
[214] around the original post number.
[209] SHHHHHH. He's the only one hitting.
I never liked Roger Clemens. I don't have strong feelings about ARod, but I didn't like the move to get him way back in 2004.
I think they should bring in Nunez. Jeter can't move.
[215] No. We were discussing who we have more faith in, Granderson or A-Rod.
And besides all of A-Rod's other problems, it was pointed out that we're facing a righty.
And righties can;t hit righties.
Swish and Tex. Let's get it started!
Until today, the O's have a line of: .227, .250, .273, .523
Today, they are 5 for 25. So Our pitching ain't the problem.
They've been sucking big swing and misses from Swish on the splitter/change. Wonder if he can wait on one. Or square up a heater.
[220] No way I take out Jeter's bat for Nunez.
[219] A-Rod, for the first three or four years here was the least likable human walking the earth.
He's been much easier to like for a while now
There's that change...
Another change. Should have crushed that.
[223] Our problem is that we can't hit mediocre pitching all of a sudden.
[194] Ed Whitson? Tony Womack?? Andy Hawkins??? Enrique Wilson????
225) Never mind his glove.
[228] No one on this team can hit a change. We're lucky of they make contact
It's getting late early.
230) Steve Kemp?
[194] Wilson really was wrong place wrong time.
[234] Kemp was a gritty gamer with a heart of gold.
[234] Hard to hate on Stevie, man took a line drive to the eye socket and was never the same.
Now, Steve "I just won you the pennant" Trout, on the other hand?
I'd really appreciate it if they went back to the too-many-homers offense. Like, now.
Damn these guys suck
This is a fucking disgrace.
Does Granderson begin each AB 0-2? More importantly, does he end each AB 0-3?
Alex has company in the suck department. BUT...it's still only a one run game. Let's just hope the relievers can hold them down. Yanks are still winning.
Fucking horseshit bollocks!
I go with ARod over Grandy. At least with ARod, there is a very slight chance of a Walk.
237) Okay, how about Davey Collins?
[241] yes he is killing them right now too. I feel like I'm watching rob deer whe he hits.
Hiroki needs to stay awesome.
And some were worried about Verlander last week. oi! Gonzalez! Are you kidding me!
Surely we can score 1 run before making 6 outs. This team is capable of scoring a lot of runs (or at least it was).
246) LOL. Or Tom Brunansky.
This guy Davis scares me.
I think the Short Porch has killed Granderson. It's all he can think about. He had a decent .364 OBP in 2011. This year, .319.
[244] That was the A-Rod that didn't swing at everything.
Nice. One more, Hiroki.
Kuroda deserves better than this.
[245] You'll take your Ed Whitson and you'll like it!!!
;)
I think he's the only one of the bunch who can actually lay claim to receiving death threats, after all ...
I just came to the realization that, since 2000, we ARE the Atlanta Braves
Fabulous.
This team needs to purify themselves in the water of Lake Minnetonka ...
I hope we aren't down 1-2 with three very good starts from our starters. Outside of the ninth inning in game 1, the offense hasn't done anything.
Time to unshit some beds.
[252] Look at his seasonal numbers from year to year. He's been inconsistent his entire career...this season fits right in with (indeed is a little better than) 2006, 2008, 2010.
[249] the orioles pen is "pretty, pretty good"
HERE COMES THE YANKEES!
Here we go, Russ.
Ultimate Frisbee Guy. Why does he have good numbers? Bleh.
somebody get the keys.. it's time to fire up the goddamn SCORE TRUCK!
Figured I would drop by with the jumper cables for the Score Truck...
When was the last time the Yankees had a hard hit ball?
C'mon Gimpy!
C'mon Jeter. Hit a homer and hop around the bases!
Did they forget to make a payment on the Score Truck?
Battlin'...
Man, he's hitting on one leg here.
[268] Bama! Man, they need jumper cables, nitroglycerin, NASA fuel..something..anything..
How did this team win 95 games? God the AL must be worse than I thought.
ugly.
Shit.
Orioles score 3rd run- yanks lose 3-2
Will Hiroki be back out there?
Shama lama ding dong.
Apparently yes. Hanging slider......
Strikes, Hiroki, calm down, bro.
Ok, so I'm bad and just started watching.. doesn't look like I missed anything. Anything good that is...
Lucky. We'll take it.
Tex!!!!!
Tex makes it look easy
Let's just hope that's not the last game Hiroki has thrown for the Yanks.
That's a great jib by hiroki
Oh fuck me, we're playing matchups.
If Kuroda didn't like pitching before tonight.... Kuroda's run support has been garbage all season.
Sometime you can predict baseball.
Great job, Kuroda! In any event.
Anyone else in favor of Nunez PHh'ing for -Rod?
I'm in Chevy Chase standing next to my chair from YS'73 applauding Hiko
Thome's taking him deep.
Can't I just watch this team piss away another season without watching GOD DAMNED MATCHUPS.
291) He didn't say he didn't like pitching. Just said it was too stressful for him to enjoy.
[292] Umm..is that a joke? A-Rod has 630 career home runs..you don't pinch hit for one of the 10 greatest hitters of all time.
@JohnFauxSterling: How the fuck does this team get all 3 SPs into the 8th inning (2 into the 9th)--each allowing no more than 3 runs--but without the lead? HOW!? #youjustcantpredict
Do. Not. Walk. Him.
Am at the game. Did they say why jeter is out?
Nice. Good job, Boonsie.
(292) (297) No joke - what about CC for a blast instead of A-Rod?
[296] 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other as far as I am concerned. I am too stressed to enjoy this game and I don't like it. : )
I want him fired. Just out of spite. Like this game hasn't been miserable enough.
[300] I just assume he's disgusted
[297] he is not the same player...have to make decision on what is happening now. As Alex observed, arod totally lost. Is closer a righty? If so, give me ibanez
Dj is out because he can hardly stand up
[300] No. In fact, I didn't know he was out. But he's been limping badly since fouling a ball off his foot in the early innings. Presumably Girardi git him a final AB in the eighth before removing him for defence.
[300] On the radidio they said it was just cause his ankle is barking and they couldn't get around to his bat anyway without first winning the game (unless the O's tack on, of course).
[309] Unless there's extra innings.
So sori!
Ok. Ichiro ties it with a homer. A Rod wins it.
Pinch hit for Arod.
Ok, Rocky theme time. We got this guy once, we can get him again.
-standing and clapping- LET'S GO YAN-KEES!
[312] A-Rod is only hitting a mistake right now. Baltimore seems smart enough not to give it to him. I suppose anything can happen, but...
[316] Like Ibanez pinch hitting for the ghost of A-Rod
[316] Maybe he's playing possum.
Ibanez is on the on deck circle.
Shit!
This is the right decision, regardless of outcome
Ibanez!!!!!!!!!
BOOM!
rauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuul
Too many homeruns!
HOLY FUCKING SHIT !!!!!!!
DEJA VU BABY!!!!
That's just...wow.
Un fricken believable.
Joey Looseleafs sure pushed the right button there!
Are you fucking KIDDING ME?
YES!
Woot! Not over yet!
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY MOTHER!!!
LEON!!!!!!
LEON!!!
Ibanez equals Arron F*cking Boone!!!
Alright, Robbie, SWEEP THE LEG!
oh god. I hate that the mlb.com radio broadcast is like 60 seconds behind real life. HAHA But I loved reading that!
OK, Cano, please end this.
End this, Robby. Can't let up now.
MAN, Robbie just missed that.
I have to think this is going extras.
Did you see Arod hugging Mo?
Think they brought Mo out to the dugout as a good luck charm.
341) That was great.
Swisher going yard here would be epic for the team and for Swish.
Come on Swish.
END IT
[341] A-Rod always been a team player. I'm sure he's only angry at himself for slumping, but the guy has always been about the team.
Got to get those three outs, man. Keep them off the damn board.
Quick inning and end it in the tenth.
Let's see if the Yankees second string can get it down in extras.
[346] I don't totally agree. I think A-Rod is part furious right now. I don't hate the guy at all, but I honestly believe that.
Ok
Extras. So what that Os have won like 47 in extras in a row!!! Let's. Go
Yan-kees!!
Soriano for 2? Got to be.
We need 3 quick outs. Can't let Baltimore get anything going. Get loud, crowd!
Good Lord this is stressful
Life! I know it would have been spectacular to end it in the ninth, but now it's time to just win it.
Arod was happy when Raul hit the bomb, but a few seconds later was a little glum.
[352] he only threw to one batter last inning, bit I still imagine this will be his only full inning.
And you let Andino lead off with a single...ugh...this could still go very bad.
bunting?
If you give up a run here, Raffy, I'll beat you to death with a hobo.
Just sayin' ...
can. not. squander. this.
Got to get these two outs here, man. Bear DOWN.
Can the announcers please stop moving the goalposts in regard to the Orioles record?
I don't feel good about this here.
[350] He has to know how awful he looked swinging tonight, and that Raul has just a perfect swing against Johnson. Great hunch by JoeyJoeJoe.
2-0, oy.
[363]nope-me either
[364] I'm note sure self-awareness has ever been his strong suit.
If Nate walks, JJ's hitting a three-run homer.
Ugh. Looking like Soriano has something lodged in his throat - please someone - Chavez, anyone - go give him a whack on the back!
WHoo HOOOO.. Pretty. So pretty!
That'll work. END IT HERE.
[367] Regarding baseball, I'm sure it is.
NIX!!!!
Jayson Nix with the Heimlich!
Now THAT's what I'm talking about.
Gteat dp
Nix(on)'s the One!
373) Best line of the night!
[364] On the other hand, so what if he is mad about getting yanked? I figure these guys are super competitive and have extreme confidence in their abilities. It makes perfect sense if ARod felt that he should have gotten to bat.
That doesn't mean he won't also be a team player and root for Ibanez, etc.
Basically, it need not be an either/or situation.
[368] lol... You're killin' me!
Alright gents, do that voodoo, that you do, soooooooooooooooo well!
Arggggggggggggggggg!
I thought that was it.
Nice positioning by Stevie.
Please end it now!!!!!
Tex could turn his whole post-season narrative around here.
Wow, Johnson is still in there.
Cal knows nothing about Teix.
Did Cal actually call for a bunt?
Did Smoltz just say Teix should bunt?
His pop ups are majestic.
Grandy, perhaps? Makes like Raul methinks?
Oh, that 2-0 pitch....Oh...
We're going to the 11th...
Wow, did Grandy get fooled on that 2-1 meatball
Grandy is just up there guessing
Two chest high floaters. And then a whiff. Come on, Granderson.
Alright, Bodie, send us all home happy!
Martin being heroic again would fit.
Hey fucko (Smoltz), talk about Mo in the past tense one more time and I'll end you.
[395] Or not.
Alabama Hammer time?
Hey, Smoltz. You Hayseed. Mo looks effortless when he actually throws a baseball you douche! Not when you're imagining him throw a football you tool.
Ugh. The Yankees have to win this thing, if only so I can stop hearing about how Baltimore never loses after the 8th inning when, blah blah blah blah blah
That was ugly
Well...
No Jeter. No ARod.
We might need...........
SUPERNUNEZ!
See Mattpat11, Smoltzie thinks Joe G is great. lol
This is no time to suck, David. Bring it.
[402] Paging Alanis M. ...
Ooops, that was a hanger he just fouled off.
All of his curves are hanging.
Why didn't that fan give the ball to Swish ?
Dude's ripping liners all over the place. Hammer him, Rob! Nasty.
YES!. Nice put-away pitch.
408) Because playoff fans in good seats are as stupid as they are greedy.
That was a foul?
I'll settle for a Game 5
Sit. Your. Ass. Down!
Great pitch.
Be. Care-ful.
"Jones goes the other way." Look, Ernie, that's really none of our business.
Let's do this. Runs!
Hot dog. Do you let Nix hit? I say, sure.
417) Hey, Now.
Well, I vote for a walk-off-win, right here!
Here we go Chavie. We needum baserunners.
Hang one, chump!
[421] Seconded.
He had no chance.
Little Bingo Nix.
Dear TBS ad sales department: Please sell fewer ads to more clients. When I see a spot more than 28 times a game all it makes me do is vow never, ever to buy that product.
Except for the girl standing by the grill in the Miller 64 ad.
I have a weird and good feeling about Nix here, oddly.
OH. too high.
Too high.
Great "Lean Back" shot of DJ.
Almost, Nixie.
Oh man, that was hanging up there...I thought the wind might deliver us!
Just not enough to get it out in Under the Weather Valley.
Shit AB, Ichiro.
Oh, Christ. Another 3 outs needed.
And Matusz will be back out in the 12th with Raul and Robbie up. Fuck.
That was a load of bollocks.
Fuck.
Robertson for two? Otherwise, who's next?
[437] I'm not worried about matchups with Cano, really. How did Matusz's shitty pitches get good when he went to the bullpen anyway?
My predictions have been for shit tonight but consider me very, very concerned now.
Yankees really pushing their friggin luck. Lets get em 1-2-3!
[441] Yeah, I'm wary of Wieters here..
Don't fucking walk the lead off guy!
No control.
443) I'm wary of Robertson.
He's hit the ball hard the last two times up with nothing to show for it.
Terrific.
That's a beaut!
My wife just said, "Now that's playoff baseball." Ha.
C'mon DRob
Uh-Oh.
THe buckler.
boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
WTF was that....
What in hell was that?
Sigh.
Le Sigh.
Fucking awesome. It's a good thing the pitcher is not allowed to catch the ball.
Assholes. That could be huge. That was Robertson's ball.
Idiots!
Ball. Fucking. Saxbury.
Teixeira was pissed.
And that fat shit Reynolds should be on second.
C'mon DRob, render that shitshow a moot point!
Holy crud.
No harm, no foul!
Phew. That was totally a clean inning in my mind, right???
Jaysuz..the Keystone Kops fielding is nerve-wracking..
You know it's coming....

Hey Cult, I don't get the "Saxbury" reference..details?
Nice tag robby... do you care for anotjer?
I've been saying all fucking year that's the biggest fucking bullshit thing about baseball. I used to run in and catch pop ups near my catcher b/c I knew I'd catch it and he might drop it. lol... Man that was terrible.
I have turned to The Yes Album...oddly my Yankee late inning playoff rally music for nearly a decade.
Alright ... Leon is going to the Orioles what it's like to live as slaves.
Ballgame!
UNFUCKINGREAL!!! DINO!!!!
RAUL for GOD!!!
LEEEEEOOOOOON!!!!!!!!
Leon = TRUE. FUCKING. YANKEE.
A Star is BORN
Mmm hmm.
Raul Ibanez=Ruben Sierra?
Shouldn't start, but he sure gets some timely hits.
[479] A STAR is REAFFIRMED.
[473] Yeah, eat yer heart out Nostralarmis!!!!
=)
raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuulllllllllllllllll
Big CC!!
Holy SHIT!
Walkoff homer. What a stud.
Changed my mind - no Game 5
I feel much better
Huge High Fives to you ALL!!!!!!!
Can we start Game 4 right now?
You know, that was a grown man's home run trot. No need for theatrics. He knew he nailed it. And he was just feeling it. That was cool.
So lets recap - 2 9-inning comebacks in 1 week and the O's extra-inning streak is OVAH
All right, I'm just joining in on the fun, but who the heck is LEON?
Looks like Raul was the one with the keys to the Score Truck...
[492] Bingo.
First walk-off loss for Baltimore all year (only team since 1900 not to lose a game like that for an entire season).
Man, and Hiroki was just great.
[494] It's Ibanez's nickname in these parts, but I don't know why.
Professional hitter?
Leon, the Professional?
Raul saved Alex but also the Yanks. Ichi and Swish hitting .200. Robbie, Alex, Grandy well under. Now, they've got two chances to move on. Great great win.
Now, let's have Phil find a can of Not-Suck and let CC start another Game 1.
[498] He sure was, man. I really like that guy. Bullpen came up big, too, after a LOT of rest.
Let's kill this insufferable Orioles late inning narrative. It's the Post-Season now, kids.
[494][499] Go look up the character Leon in "Blade Runner". Cult came up with that nickname. :)
502) Agreed. I think the O's might have another one left in them. Sure hope the Yanks put a fucking beating Saunders who seems to be pitching on another level with his wily ass self. And there's always the Hughes factor.
You are right, too. That was a beautiful job by Boone, Sori and Robertson.
I'm watching the post game...can someone do a mashup of Showalter tonight and Philip S-H as Lester Bangs in Almost Famous? Can barely tell them apart except for the cap on Buck's head.
I thought Philip S-H looked just like Art Howe?
Buck's act does wear thin after a few years.
This game for Raul is right up there with Reggie's 3 homers in the WS. Aaron Boone's HR was almost inevitable after the team comeback. But Raul's HRs saved the game and probably the season singlehandedly (not even counting his bombs in the Oakland and Boston games that preserved 1st place). Tonights game will never be forgotten, and could be the start of the endgame for Arod and the Yankees.
Give Rodriguez credit. He is handling the postgame questions well, and was one of the first players to greet Ibanez after he hit that first home run. Good job, A-Rod.
As Gene Hackman said in Hoosiers, "Team. Team. Team."
[508] Always said that A-Rod was a team guy all the way. He agreed to move to 3B despite being a better shortstop than Jeter! Glad I am way over here and can easily avoid the tabloid nonsense about him. He'll hit tomorrow and Yanks will clinch in 4, "you can put it on the board, Yes!"™
™Phrase the property of Hawk Harrelson.
So.... TWICE Raul has 2 ABS, tieds the game in the 9th and Wins it in Extras. TWICE. Within a 2 week time no less.
According to Steve at WW, that is the first time in Post Season HISTORY that a player had 2 PA and 2 HR.
Just got back from the hospital. I was lucky to have signal see the fireworks in the waiting room.
I came back to read all the talk about Girardi pinch-hitting for A-Rod and nothing. WTF
Guys that has got to be the ballsiest move of the decade. Pinch-hitting for a HOFer, one of the greatest HR hitters of all time, at home in a one run game.
Girardi is a genius in my book.
