Hizzoner

Ed Koch, the former mayor of our city, and a bona fide character–among other things–passed away this morning. He was 88.

A complicated legacy, to be sure. A terrific cheerleader for the city, when it needed one most, but petty and vindictive to a fault. Steered the city away from the brink of financial ruin, but was completely impotent when it came to the rise of crack and AIDS. All that being said I'll take him over King Mike any day of the week.

A mixed bag, but an original.

[1] I second that, and I'd like to proxy that in case anyone asks me my opinion; with your permission of course.

[1][2] Agreed & Agreed!
I couldn't stand some of his foreign policy comments and it would have been a huge step forward had he come 'out' while Mayor but he did command a certain amount of respect.
King MikeMoneybags mostly makes me ill.
