Great start to the spring. Oof.

It simply boggles my mind that *the* NY Yankees' farm system is so bereft of talent that there is no one at the AAA level, at any position as far as I can tell, who can fill in for a month. Don't they have a single more or less replacement level OF stashed anywhere? Seriously?

[2] You simply must have forgotten that *the* Matt Diaz is currently on the roster for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (had no idea until 20 seconds ago SWB had adopted such a catchy team name)!

[2],[4] "More or less replacement"... it seems like the Yanks have opened their AAA doors to the rest of baseball as a rehab clinic so that players can return to their old teams in relatively decent shape (or maybe not, i.e. Pedro Feliciano). I bet the thinking is that they have a few "options" to warm the bench until Cash swings a trade. But hey, why not throw one of the infinite number of pitching prospects the Yanks have drafted the last ten years in the outfield for a month? It would seem like a wash at this point...

[4] I had totally forgotten about the Matt Diaz Experience. I guess I was too busy building enthusiasm for the Revenge of Juan Rivera.
