What's the 'Masters'? TV documentary about Bird, Duke, Miles and Mariano? Surely not that non-sport 'Golf'?

LET'S Go YAN-Kees!

Wow Orel and Krukkie..the O's have a team of baseball players? Thanks for that. Not like the Yankees roster of jai alai & shuffleboard lazy millionaires. You fucking talentless idiots. Mute button please!

3 rbj   ~  Apr 14, 2013 7:18 pm

[2] The Red Sox have a team of pro video game players.

4 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 14, 2013 7:21 pm

[3] Seriously, is there NO ONE in the production team to just stop them? I mean 'They got guys that just want to come play every day'..Jesus..

5 rbj   ~  Apr 14, 2013 7:26 pm

[4] Orioles also have professional hitters, guys getting paid to hit. Marlins have guys who are paid to play tiddly-winks.

I hate cliches and try to avoid them like the plague.

6 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 14, 2013 7:28 pm

[5] I hear ya, they really get my goat. Wait, that's not a cliche..
I'm missing Kay and O'Neil. Caught a bit of yesterday's game..M.Kay had a baby?!?

7 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 14, 2013 7:28 pm

Alright ... let's go Yewcoulis!

8 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 14, 2013 7:31 pm

Uh, line drives please.

9 rbj   ~  Apr 14, 2013 7:33 pm

[6] Hadn't heard. Congrats to Kay.

BTW, why are the Yankees, or any other team doing off tomorrow, Jackie Robinson Day?

1.005 ops for Frankie?

10 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 7:56 pm

kruk - boston has grinders who are baseball players...like pyouk used to be when he was in boston.

this is why they will win. they have baseball players! damn, why didn't the stein-brothers think of that...

11 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 14, 2013 7:59 pm

[10] thelarmis, I caught that too..excruciating. What a total fucking moron, I can't take it yet this is the one game this week I can watch from home.

Tell us more about the Zakir Hussein gig you went to!

12 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:02 pm

Nice job by Hiroki so far.

13 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:04 pm

nice pitch, hiro!

14 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:12 pm

[11] yeah, me too. except, i only have a few minutes more before heading back to the studio. this is the busiest week ever right now. waaaay too much to do...

zakir hussain = master/genius/best ever. great traditional Indian Classical concert with pandit shivkumar sharma on santoor. we had great indian cuisine before the show, too.

15 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:12 pm

fewer, orel. fewer, not less.

16 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:13 pm

hit a homer, pyouk.

17 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:14 pm

if the infield dirt were the warning track, that would've been a homer!

18 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:17 pm

[14] Wow that gig sounds amazing. I love the santoor. Maybe time for some music here with the game on in the background. Good luck in the studio.

19 RIYank   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:18 pm

Excruciating crew, as I see you have all been noticing.

Orel surgery.

20 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:26 pm

if middlebrooks caught that foul ball, fruk woulda talked about his incredible range, how youk is washed up and that boston has the best fielders.

baseball players = gold gloves.

21 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:27 pm

nixed.

22 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:27 pm

more easier.

good one, fruk.

23 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:27 pm

Nix got away with one there.

24 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:28 pm

Wow, this game is boring as hell. Hiroki's pitching a gem, but I just can't get excited about this line-up.

There is really only one "must see" at bat for me. CanĂ³, of course.

25 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:30 pm

hiro!

26 RIYank   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:30 pm

Bam!
Hiroki reaches back for a little extra. Very nice.

Now, runs? Maybe?

27 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:33 pm

boesch-Y!

28 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:33 pm

[26] Now, runs? Pepto?

29 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:34 pm

Evening boys.
Man.... this is one ugly lineup.
(Meaning, uglier than usual).

30 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:34 pm

Whadda ya say, Frankie?

31 RIYank   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:34 pm

[24] And maybe Frankie.
Serious. He's raking.

32 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:35 pm

this, i like.

33 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:35 pm

Atta baby.

34 RIYank   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:35 pm

Here we go!

35 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:36 pm

No patience. This guy refuses to walk.

36 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:36 pm

gave it a ride...

37 rbj   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:37 pm

first legitimate threat.

38 rbj   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:38 pm

A run!

39 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:38 pm

It'll do.

40 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:38 pm

When Kruk is MC'ing, you hear more GREAT catches, more GREAT hitting and more GREAT running than anyone person can stand.

41 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:38 pm

a run, a run, amok!

42 RIYank   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:38 pm

Jayson Nix, that will do. All you could really ask.

43 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:39 pm

What The---

44 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:39 pm

WOWZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

45 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:39 pm

HOLY CRAP!!!

that was GREAT!!!!!

46 RIYank   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:40 pm

Aha!
That's more like it.

47 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:40 pm

FLEA BITE!

48 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:40 pm

Well check out Brett!

49 thelarmis   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:40 pm

wells-Y!

50 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:45 pm

I got so excited about that sac fly that I almost missed the Might Mite HR.

Not your father's Yankees.

51 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:45 pm

[50] hahahaah! You can say that again!

52 RIYank   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:51 pm

Dang, Hiroki is just hiro-ic tonight. Mowing down O's.

53 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:52 pm

[48] I just got the reference. "B-b-b-because of the metric system?"

54 RIYank   ~  Apr 14, 2013 8:57 pm

This game is just speeding along.

55 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:06 pm

Impressive getting Davis there.

56 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:08 pm

I'm a fan of this Hiroki Kuroda character

57 monkeypants   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:16 pm

It's still very early, of course, but Cervelli doesn't seem to suck as much as I recall. Hopefully he can keep it up a little.

58 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:17 pm

[57] I haven't been able to actually *watch* him yet. He was the worst defensive catcher I've ever seen. If he can improve on that, we can live with it.

59 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:22 pm

I realize am a bit cranky as the espresso ran out this morning but really, this may be the worst TV crew have ever heard. Have heard ONE insightful comment (from Krukkie!) in 7 innings.

60 monkeypants   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:23 pm

[58] I'll take bad defence if he keeps hitting. Really, if he can just something well, I'll be stunned and very, very pleased.

61 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:24 pm

59) What's a matter, you don't like hearing about "class and dignity in pinstripes." Gag.

62 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:24 pm

Three more outs, Hiroki...

63 monkeypants   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:25 pm

[59] I actually thought they made a few decent observations on some technical aspects of the game. But their editorializing and jocularity is insufferable. That and when they spent about two innings talking about the NBA. I mean, I expect Buck to be bored with baseball, but not former players.

64 RIYank   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:26 pm

[60] He plays a mean contrabassoon.

65 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:27 pm

Long throw. Drat. Time to turn twoski.

66 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:28 pm

[60] I'm really, really not a defense guy, especially because I think defensive metrics really suck.

Nunez and Cervelli have been some of my rare exceptions. There's "doesn't have a lot of range" and then there's "unusable in the field" Both fit the second category for me.

67 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:30 pm

Poetry in motion!

68 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:30 pm

Robbie is pure awesome.

69 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:30 pm

Robinson Cano, ladies and gentlemen.

70 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:32 pm

[59] I only caught the last inning but did Kruk really say he didn't think the Yankees all knew they turned a triple play. Is he that fucking clueless?

71 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:35 pm

Does Kuroda go the whole way?

72 monkeypants   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:35 pm

Theone advantage of having a relatively impotent offense is that the games move right along!

73 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:36 pm

I suppose if anyone gets on they go to Mo.

74 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:39 pm

Is Kuroda the best non Mussina pitching signing of the Cashman era?

75 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:39 pm

[74] Should be non Mussina, non Sabathia, of course

76 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:40 pm

Oh, ffs!

What is this sloppy-ass fucking defense?

77 monkeypants   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:43 pm

[75] Mussina and Sabathia were no-brainers. Kuroda has been a wonderful surprise, and possibly the best of the lower profile signings.

78 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:43 pm

[77] I was thinking that too.

And I do think he's without question the best of the lower profile guys

79 monkeypants   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:44 pm

Old fashioned.

80 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:44 pm

Atta boy, Kuroda!

81 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:45 pm

A shutout. Nice game, Team.

82 monkeypants   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:46 pm

So, the blue print for success: complete game shutout and power from Brett Gardner.

83 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 14, 2013 9:46 pm

That was pretty.
