Okay, that works.

2 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 18, 2013 6:29 pm

The Kay-Leiter schtick isn't so bad, actually.

3 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 6:32 pm

[2] Yeah, actually, it isn't.
My tolerance for Kay-related schtick is not high, either.

4 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 6:33 pm

Hughes making some guys miss tonight.
Last game there was exactly one swing-and-miss against him. One pitch, one swing. So, better.

(But someone will take him yard, you can just tell.)

5 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 6:36 pm

Hey, a hit.

6 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 6:38 pm

Uh.
No, he was in fair territory. Should have been out. Lucky.

7 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 18, 2013 6:40 pm

Oy ugly ab for Ichi.

8 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 6:43 pm

Not exactly a batting clinic by Nuñez, either.

9 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 6:45 pm

Congrats, Didi.

10 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 6:51 pm

Okay, well, a solo homer. Attaboy. Sort of.

11 randym77   ~  Apr 18, 2013 6:57 pm

D-backs traded for Didi because they think he's "a young Derek Jeter."

12 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:16 pm

PastadivingNunez

13 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:19 pm

Hm.
Phil's bete noir.

14 randym77   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:20 pm

Jeez. Didi's batting 1.000

15 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:23 pm

Nice!

16 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:24 pm

Nice job Phil.

17 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:24 pm

Whew!
Huge, Hughes.

18 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:32 pm

Yup. 2 dingers.

19 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:33 pm

See [10].

20 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:42 pm

[19] Huuuuugh-urrrns kind of performance tonight?

21 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:45 pm

[20] Yes, but a lot better than last time. Got some guys to miss, for one thing.

22 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:45 pm

Doncha' know! Robbie!

23 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:46 pm

God that is sweet.

24 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:47 pm

Robbie!

25 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:50 pm

Man, I tune in for 5 minutes and get treated to an absolute ROCKET by Robbie. Dude is ON.

26 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:54 pm

Hm, I think Phil is losing it. Too many pitches. I hope he can get one more out...

27 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:56 pm

Excellent finish.
Well, he pitched well enough to win. Let's see if they can get it for him.

28 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:57 pm

Nice! Quality start for Phil, and not a phony-baloney one either.

Joba?

29 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 7:58 pm

Well I only caught that last 3 innings. That was a much better looking Mr. Hughes.

30 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:03 pm

Dang, Ben just missed.

31 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:04 pm

MF!

32 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:10 pm

Booooooooone!

33 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:14 pm

At least he had good throwing motion. (just kidding)

34 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:14 pm

Nune6!

35 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:15 pm

Nuñe5...

36 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:15 pm

Oh yeah, I was off by 1.

37 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:15 pm

Hm, hate to say it, but Teix would have had that.

38 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:16 pm

Nix nixes the icks

39 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:18 pm

[38] Fixes the E6, quick.

40 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:19 pm

Day-um.

41 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:22 pm

Okay, that's the ticket. Now let's see a hit.

42 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:22 pm

Ah, strategery.

43 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:25 pm

The looper.

44 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:25 pm

Hey, that will do!

Kirk Gibson, you're no Joe Madden.

45 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:26 pm

A scoring threat!

46 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:27 pm

Alright, Robbie. Find a gap.

47 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:28 pm

[44] What? Gibby is Gritty! And has a manly beard!
Vernon Wells Walks. I like the sound of that.

48 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:28 pm

Turn him loose on 3-0 please...
Nope! That will do though!

Yum, Rob with the bases juiced.

49 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:28 pm

[47] Ah, but he is not a chessmaster.

50 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:30 pm

Concentrate, Robinson.

51 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:31 pm

This is going to be a trainwreck.

52 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:32 pm

Oh, fuck. Are you kidding?

53 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:33 pm

There is not joy in Mudville, Mighty Robbie has struck out, er, reached by hit by pitch, er, struck out.

54 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:35 pm

[53] Wait..what happened?

55 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:35 pm

Grrrrrrrrr.

56 randym77   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:36 pm

Well, that was disappointing.

57 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:36 pm

[54] The pitch hit him, but the 1B ump said he swung, strike three. (And it's really the 3B ump's call. But he did swing.)

58 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:38 pm

Brett's got to make that catch. Fucking botched it.

59 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:40 pm

Yeah, this doesn't surprise me somehow.

60 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:41 pm

Now a double play.

61 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:43 pm

Gah. Are you fucking kidding me!

62 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:44 pm

What? Are you kidding? Sure looked out at third.

63 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:44 pm

Hm, close, but he was out.

64 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:45 pm

Or not.
Hm.
Anyway, got to go get this next schlub.

65 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:45 pm

I can't name a list of specific events but I am pretty sure Phil Cuzzi sucks.

66 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:48 pm

What the hell?
Catcher's interference?
Bizarre inning.

67 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:49 pm

I was expecting a Brett - Ichiro collision there, considering this inning

68 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:53 pm

It just wouldn't be right to lose a game in which both Phil and Joba pitched well.

69 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:54 pm

HOT FUCKING DAMN BRAINS!

70 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:55 pm

Boo-ya! Frankie Brains!

71 Capital Yank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:56 pm

Frankie fuggin Brains!!!

72 Shaun P.   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:57 pm

Hot damn, Frankie Brains ties it up!

Just got back from vacation and am thrilled to see the Yanks tie this up!

73 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:58 pm

Wow, what a strange couple of innings.

74 Jon DeRosa   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:58 pm

95% sure that was Zach Hample. Again. Catching another homer. (Diane's friend).

75 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:58 pm

Would be a great time for Nunez first home run of the season.

76 Capital Yank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 8:59 pm

Let's see it Nune5

77 Capital Yank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:00 pm

Atta boy

78 monkeypants   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:02 pm

I approve of the not-sucky version of Frankie Cervelli.

79 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:03 pm

Free baseball!

80 Jon DeRosa   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:03 pm

Yeah, that was definitely Hample. The dude is magnetized. For baseballs.

81 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:06 pm

So Cano swings at a pitch that hits him, with the bases loaded, then Frankie Brains clobbers one in the 9th to tie the game.
Well, Suzyn, You just can't...

82 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:15 pm

Snakes Hammered.
Now win, please! Cano up third...

83 rbj   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:15 pm

Time for a Grirnerry home run.
Good night all.

84 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:26 pm

Evening... did I miss anything?

85 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:27 pm

Uh oh.

86 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:27 pm

[84] Four solo homers. And some odd plays.

87 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:33 pm

Hm. This isn't shaping up well.
They'll bunt, right?

88 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:33 pm

Ha. They were gonna.

89 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:35 pm

Nice. Ha.

90 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:39 pm

Hellz yeah.
Good work, Phelpsy!

91 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:39 pm

End this circus, please.

92 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:45 pm

Man... that kid can play Shortstop.

93 Shaun P.   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:45 pm

C'mon guys, it's Heath Bell - time to end this game!

94 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:47 pm

Come on, Brains!

95 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:50 pm

Ichiro!
Please, one more hit, boys, one more...

96 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:53 pm

Fug. Hit the snot out of it.

97 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:53 pm

FUG!
Good swing, Eduardo.

98 RIYank   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:54 pm

Wow, two fugs!

99 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:55 pm

Dammit.

100 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 9:58 pm

[98] Fuggin' a right! Lead off doubles are bollocks.

101 randym77   ~  Apr 18, 2013 10:05 pm

Well, I guess that's that...

102 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 18, 2013 10:06 pm

Cervelli better keep hitting like this, because he truly is one of the worst catchers I've ever seen.

103 Shaun P.   ~  Apr 18, 2013 10:06 pm

Sigh. Time for bed.

104 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 18, 2013 10:07 pm

Phelps' rose is officially shat upon.

105 randym77   ~  Apr 18, 2013 10:09 pm

What is it with Cervelli, anyway? You usually don't see even bad catchers get the number of errors he does.

106 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 18, 2013 10:14 pm

Yankees really need to win games when Hughes pitches well, because they don't happen that often.

107 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 18, 2013 10:19 pm

For the record, the Braves are 13-2. That's just sick in this era.

108 randym77   ~  Apr 18, 2013 10:22 pm

Yeah, the Braves are playing very well. They have had some weak opponents, though: Cubs, Marlins, Royals. And some of their players are playing way above themselves. (Would you believe Ramiro Pena hitting .364 / .417 / .545 ?)
