OK, uniforms not that bad. I was worried they were going to be something along the lines of the Mud Hens Chewbacca unis:

Here's hoping Phil does not get camoflogged.

3 rbj   ~  May 27, 2013 6:28 pm

No harm.

4 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2013 6:37 pm

Phil could have a good day with this ump if he knew where the ball was gong when it left his hand.

5 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 6:43 pm

[1] Speechless.

6 RIYank   ~  May 27, 2013 6:45 pm

Appropriately, I'm following (not watching, because my internet connection isn't good enough) from a train.

7 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 6:50 pm

I hate Leiter in the booth.

It’s Phil Hughes which spells hope for Los Mets.

Seems like that *should* read, "It's Los Mets, which spells hope for Phil Hughes" ...

9 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2013 7:28 pm

Oh the Douda day.

10 cult of basebaal   ~  May 27, 2013 7:28 pm

GO, GO GRITNER!!!

11 rbj   ~  May 27, 2013 7:31 pm

Nixed the shutout.

12 cult of basebaal   ~  May 27, 2013 7:33 pm

Nice!

Obviously, the boys were just waiting for me to show up!

[edit] Aaaaaaaand, there's a DP ... so, maybe not!

13 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2013 7:35 pm

Appropriately, I'm checking in from the studio.

GO YANKS!!!

14 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 7:36 pm

Why can't Cano be more like Vernon Wells, the all-star?

15 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2013 7:39 pm

But...my studio is near the train depot, so it sorta counts!

16 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 7:40 pm

I've heard that this David Adams gentleman plays the game the right way.

17 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2013 7:46 pm

That was a helluva catch. Holy shit!

18 cult of basebaal   ~  May 27, 2013 7:46 pm

GRITTY!

19 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2013 7:47 pm

Grittner!

20 rbj   ~  May 27, 2013 7:48 pm

Day-um.

21 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2013 7:48 pm

Ack. Wish I saw it. Hopefully, it'll be on the highlight reel...

Gotta practice...

22 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 27, 2013 7:53 pm

[7] Yeah, he seems very..arrogant? Just not very pleasant to listen to.
Singleton & Flaherty would great over the weekend.

23 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 27, 2013 7:55 pm

[21] Thelarmis! Just picked up a recent Bobby Hutcherson reissue, 'The View From The Inside'. Can't ever get enough of Bobby Hutch!

24 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2013 7:56 pm

I like Al. : )

25 rbj   ~  May 27, 2013 7:57 pm

Nerts

26 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2013 8:01 pm

Nice, Jazz! Yeah, I got that one and all the Hutch reissues I didn't have. I now have every single Hutch CD on Blue Note, where he's the leader...except one. For some reason, they haven't put Inner Glow on disc. Well, it's part of his Mosaic box set, but there's never been a singular issue of it as a stand alone Blue Note disc. It's frustrating, but I'll still hold out hope...

If ya want, shoot me an email to remind me, and I'll forward you my Hutch BN collection! : ) I have most of his sideman work on the label, too...

27 rbj   ~  May 27, 2013 8:03 pm

Aw crap!

28 cult of basebaal   ~  May 27, 2013 8:05 pm

Well, poo, they're jeering BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOghes again.

29 RIYank   ~  May 27, 2013 8:06 pm

Ah, there's the homer.
But, it was a solo, so nice job, Philip.

30 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 27, 2013 8:06 pm

[26] Cool, I'll be in touch. I'm slowly adding to my Hutch collection but way behind you. ibes + electric piano is such a great sound.

Ah, there's that Hughes tater we've been waiting for. Still, 1 run in 7IP is fine.

31 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 8:07 pm

Lost in all the hoopla, Hughesie is pitching a helluva game.

32 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 8:08 pm

Oh, for the record, I support our troops, and I have a bumper sticker that verifies the fact.

33 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2013 8:11 pm

Welp, the Wright homer was annoying, sort of inevitable, but even still: 1 run over 7 innings is a good night from any starting pitcher. And good job by Phil to retire the side after the Wright home run.

34 cult of basebaal   ~  May 27, 2013 8:12 pm

{33} True dat. I'm only saying HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHurns in jest.

Mostly.

35 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 8:13 pm

Jazz, what do you think about this snappy Burger King commercial (I assume we're the only ones seeing it). It's like a weird, half backed throwback to the early 60s.

36 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2013 8:16 pm

Is this the same Wright that was slumping when the game started? Rats!

37 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 27, 2013 8:17 pm

[35] I'm "woikin'" at the office this morning so only got Gameday on the iPhone. So they heard your complaint about Bo and changed commercials?

38 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2013 8:18 pm

Gotta bad feeling about this game not ending well.

39 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 8:19 pm

[37] No Bo is still on, but they added BK and shaver CMs as well.

40 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2013 8:19 pm

Ike, stop bitching, that pitch is right there.

41 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 8:21 pm

[38] Overbay will win it with a late HR.

42 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2013 8:21 pm

Yup, another cheap hit and you can see the Mets swiping this one.

43 cult of basebaal   ~  May 27, 2013 8:21 pm

When the hell did the Mets all turn into extras from Gettysburg???

44 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2013 8:21 pm

Oh, and if it's this cocksucker I'm going to be sick.

45 RIYank   ~  May 27, 2013 8:22 pm

Come on, Dave!

C'mon Hammer, hurt 'em!

48 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 27, 2013 8:25 pm

[43] Not watching, have they all grown long beards?

49 RIYank   ~  May 27, 2013 8:26 pm

Ugh.

Okay, got 'em just where you want 'em, Dave.
Hammer time.

50 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2013 8:27 pm

Yup, here it goes, slipping away.

51 RIYank   ~  May 27, 2013 8:30 pm

Okay.
One more.

52 cult of basebaal   ~  May 27, 2013 8:31 pm

ROBBIE!

53 rbj   ~  May 27, 2013 8:33 pm

Aw crappity crap.

54 RIYank   ~  May 27, 2013 8:33 pm

Argh.
DAMN.

He lost confidence in throwing the ball low after all those misses.

55 cult of basebaal   ~  May 27, 2013 8:34 pm

Fudge.

56 RIYank   ~  May 27, 2013 8:35 pm

This is getting ugly.
Better get Duda, is all I can say...

57 cult of basebaal   ~  May 27, 2013 8:36 pm

Fudgie the Whale.

58 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 8:38 pm

Wow. The wheels are coming off in a hurry.

59 rbj   ~  May 27, 2013 8:40 pm

[48] Beards at least. It's like they're in the hockey second season.

60 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 8:40 pm

[48] Yes. Most of them have beards.

61 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 27, 2013 8:40 pm

62 rbj   ~  May 27, 2013 8:41 pm

Boone!

63 RIYank   ~  May 27, 2013 8:42 pm

Whew.

64 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 27, 2013 8:43 pm

Looking forward to Overbay batting third this inning. Yankees 2013 edition.

65 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 27, 2013 8:43 pm

Who's closing for the Mets these days?

The Mets..so funny to think they have two of the most famous championship teams of all time...surrounded by years and years of awful baseball.

66 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 27, 2013 8:47 pm

Nice AB for Ichiro. I don't think Parnell has thrown a strike yet.

67 RIYank   ~  May 27, 2013 8:47 pm

Okay, man aboard.

NO PLAYS PLEASE.

68 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 8:53 pm

Well, there goes my plan.

69 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2013 8:55 pm

Fucking mets.

70 Boatzilla   ~  May 27, 2013 8:56 pm

Muts.

71 RIYank   ~  May 27, 2013 8:57 pm

Ohhhhhhh.

That damn bases loaded GIDP, grrrrr.

Oh well, get 'em tomorrow. And good game by Phil.

72 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2013 8:57 pm

Recap is up. This entire week could suck ass. Harvey tomorrow--though I love having Hiroki pitch that game, Sox this weekend...

73 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 27, 2013 9:00 pm

Couldn't watch this game until the eighth. I heard the Yankees had bases loaded with one out and didn't score, that was probably the game. Hughes was good, too bad. Robertson not so good, oh well. Tomorrow will be better, and the Yanks have to win to keep from losing three in a row for the first time this year.
