And Happy International Left-Handed Day, big fella!

2 Sliced Bread   ~  Aug 13, 2013 4:55 pm

kind of a house money lineup backing the big man.

3 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 13, 2013 5:52 pm

Yes, that's a weird-ass line up. Please explain to me why Brett Gardner is not in it.

Joey doesn't want to risk him breaking the record for game winning hits?

Joey is trying to give everyone a chance to play. Then after the game he'll treat them all to ice cream.

4 Chyll Will   ~  Aug 13, 2013 5:58 pm

[3] Oooh, I want ice cream! How can I get in on that? I mean, I'm not left handed, but I can provide some power...

5 Chyll Will   ~  Aug 13, 2013 6:02 pm

[4] ...and by that I mean I can home-run singles from the genny to the dugout and light it up >;) {/film set humor}

6 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 6:16 pm

Aw crap!

7 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 6:41 pm

Wells that's better

8 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 6:58 pm

Jeez.

9 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 6:58 pm

Fuck you ump. Neighborhood much?

10 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 13, 2013 6:59 pm

That is horeshit, Blue!

11 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:05 pm

Cat like. A tank sized cat.

12 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:06 pm

He threw that to first like he was tryin' to moida somebody.

13 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:19 pm

CC getting squeezed. He's a little off, but not getting breaks anywhere on the field.

14 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:24 pm

Earlier, Kay asked Meredith if Jeter had any bad feelings in his current injury. She said he didn't feel anything. Good thing Jeter has a calf problem and not a groin pull for Meredith to comment on how it feels. (I know, sophomoric, but funny to me).

15 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:25 pm

Rally time!

16 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:36 pm

Did I hear that right? CC hasn't had a put out at first in over two years! How is that possible?

Ya know, if plays were made, and all things being equal, CC would be pitching a shutout.

17 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:40 pm

[14] Meredith seems clever and fun, I dig her.

I can't listen to them talk about Vargas pitching without thinking of McBain crashing into the room and shooting the place up. (Simpsons ref for those that don't know!)

18 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:40 pm

Atta boy, Sori!

19 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:40 pm

Alphonso!

20 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:41 pm

Fonzi!

21 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:41 pm

Way TOO much hot dogging for a ball that barely cleared the fence. Oh, well.

22 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:42 pm

[21] More hot-dogging! Love it!

23 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:44 pm

[20] Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

24 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:50 pm

[21] Not when the ball hits a foot from the top of the wall and Lil' Sori is left holding his jock on 1st base. : )
[23] Late night reruns on the Hub channel. lol.... Maybe for Soriano's homers Sterling can give his impression of Fonzi trying to say sorry but saying Sori instead. And if you get that one....then cheers.

25 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 13, 2013 7:53 pm

[24] :) I'm blanking on the Happy Days memory of that one..I know the 70s were a different time but seriously..how did all the kids think Fonzi was 'cool'?

26 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:02 pm

[24] Reruns? Harrumph, watched the original. Now if you'll excuse me, there are some kids on the damn lawn. . .

27 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:04 pm

Oh, and Fonzie could never say "I'm sorry"

28 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:06 pm

[25] Saying sorry was definitely not cool for the Fonz. So the few times he did have to say it he'd stutter something fierce. Quite the spectacle. And I can't speak to how teenage kids felt about The Fonz when the show was on in the 70's. Okay, I've said too much about Happy Days. In any even, Henry Wrinkler has shown up in some pretty bizarre roles in recent years. Ha.
Where the hell's Donnie Baseball when you need him?

29 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:07 pm

[26] Hey, I watched the originals as my elder sisters insisted..but I think it premiered the year I was born? ('74)

Sadly, I'm more interested in discussing 1970s TV shows than following the Yankees anymore this year..

30 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:11 pm

Robot. Umpire. Overlords.

Just awful.

31 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:13 pm

[26] Hey, I absorbed it in the late 70's. Of course I was not yet in Kindergarten but it was still entertaining. lol... In was already in syndication in the early 80's and it was on every single weekday about dinner time. I watch it now for nostalgia.

32 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:14 pm

They'd better take full advantage of that complete gift.

33 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:14 pm

This is not a relaxing game.

34 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:14 pm

[29] Got a decade on ya. And this year I'm just enjoying baseball as baseball, not worried about the Yankees postseason chances, which are zero. Just need Scooter to talk about where to get a good cannoli.

35 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:15 pm

I cannot friggin' stand Mike Scioscia. I hope he goes crazy and gets tossed soon.

36 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:17 pm

[35] Same here.

So Soriano is 2 for 19 on the homestand with two homers. It's good that Weepingforbrunhilde is taking the season off; he'd have a nervous breakdown.

37 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:18 pm

[34] "I tell ya, White! Holy Cow Ice Cream in Rhineback, NY. Holy Cow, that's good ice cream!" I miss those guys a lot.

38 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:22 pm
39 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:26 pm

[37] There is an ice cream shop in Rhinebeck, but I was more familiar with the three bars in town (not including the Rhinebeck Tavern -- outside my price range in college & afterwards)

40 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:28 pm

Nice. Soriano comes through again.

41 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:28 pm

[38] Oh man, so awesome. I'm going to cry with joy, such great memories.
[39] I went to school up there too!

42 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:29 pm

[32] Well, *I'll be*, they actually did!

43 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:30 pm

[41] Bard, 1987

44 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:32 pm

I had to run out just after it happened. Did Nelson leave before the catch?

45 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:32 pm

Good work, Alex.

46 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:33 pm

Well I'll be.
I did not expect that.

47 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:33 pm

Lovely, just lovely.

48 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:33 pm

[43] Nice, Bard '95 for me!

49 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:33 pm

[44] No. Completely blown.

50 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:34 pm

[44] No. It was close but no.

51 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:36 pm

I'm not going to even think about what could have been this year. Just enjoy baseball.

52 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:36 pm

Holy shit. Just reading about the Shane Spencer hoax today. WTF!

53 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:40 pm

[48] Cool! By '95 I'm back on the East Coast after law and library school in Oregon & Washington. And falling in love with Aikido.

54 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:41 pm

[49] Of course not.

Its getting out of control.

55 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:42 pm

Shawn Kelley certainly has his moments.

56 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:48 pm

If Joey Joe Joe has any damn sense, we'll see Betances tonight.

Perfect time to give the kid an easy situation to pitch in, get his feet wet.

57 Chyll Will   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:50 pm

Hey wow, I wanted to go to Bard in 94, but I needed to get some prerequisites at DCC first. Ended up graduating from Dutchess and transferring to Hunter instead. And yes, Holy Cow is da shizznits! I'll be going to the county fair in two weeks, so I'm planning to hit them up then.

58 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:52 pm

[55] I think its more good than bad.

59 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:52 pm

Bad umpiring crew

60 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:52 pm

Pastadivinggreen!

61 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:52 pm

[57][53] Awesome! Beautiful part of the state up there. I'm getting an ice cream vibe now, may have to venture out in the heat wave to indulge.
[56] Agreed, bring on the kids!

62 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:53 pm

Let's go, Nuney!

63 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:55 pm

[57] Honorary member. We don't have frats, just a network. . .

64 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:58 pm

YS Special! Whoo-hooot. Eat fucking shit, Scioscia.

65 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:58 pm

Sweet Sori!

66 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 8:59 pm

Thelarmis will be sorry to have missed this one. Soriano power and double digits!

67 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:00 pm

The game at the Rogers Center is a little more exciting than this one. Jays batting for the win in the bottom of the ninth, two on, two out for Brett Lawrie...

68 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:00 pm

Night all, early morning.

69 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:01 pm

Maicer Itzuris PH.

70 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:01 pm

Uh, no. I'm totally confused...

71 Chyll Will   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:02 pm

[61] New York is a very beautiful state that seems to incorporate a little of everything around the country (haven't found a desert yet, but I'll bet there is one somewhere; maybe Endicott) I like driving around and discovering or revisiting attractive areas and great food. Went back to Sam's Point/Ice Caves Mountain in Ellenville last Saturday, plan to revisit Howe Caverns near Albany soon. Too bad Carson City and Catskills Game Farm are gone.

72 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:03 pm

Oh, Lawrie made an out while I wasn't looking, okay.
Maybe I should just watch one game...

73 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:04 pm

[71] There's a small desert on East 125th St.

74 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:05 pm

Extra innings in Toronto...

75 Chyll Will   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:06 pm

[63] Cool. Never was big on frats, but I'm not a social guy to begin with. Bard still looks as cool as ever. Love the woods, seem to have spent most of my life in or near them.

76 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:09 pm

Betances, cool.

77 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:09 pm

Alright, Kid. You get the chance to get at least one out.

78 Chyll Will   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:11 pm

[73] Nah, that's just construction. You can tell by the grade and frequency of litter...

79 knuckles   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:11 pm

Dellin!

If Kay ever says Dellin is gellin' I am throwing my tv out the window.

80 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:11 pm

Oh, c'mon. THAT SUCKS!

81 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:12 pm

[77] More like the chance to throw ONE pitch ...

82 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:12 pm

Betances is a giant, huh?

83 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:12 pm

Oh, not so cool. Poor guy!

84 knuckles   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:13 pm

[82] big kid

85 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:13 pm

[78] Oh, huh. But... the camels!

86 Chyll Will   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:17 pm

Wowzers, that really sucks.

87 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:17 pm

[79] Betances's ball really dances! Dellin is dealin!
Ok, I'm out, work is calling

88 Chyll Will   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:20 pm

[85] Nope, Newports; commonly known in Harlem as loosies...

89 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:24 pm

[88] Newport is in my part of the woods, kimosabe.

90 Chyll Will   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:28 pm

[89] I like the woods. They have the best ice cream.

91 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:38 pm

Woah. I went for a bike ride with my daughter and missed the biggest offensive onslaught of the season. Just shows ta go ya.

My Angel fan family have turned off the game.

Jazz, it's a chill 74°F in SoCal right now. I can't even break a sweat.

92 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:46 pm

[91] You'd best watch up, it's supposed heat up tomorrow. Why, I believe it's even expected to break 85 ...

93 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:56 pm

Dellin is no longer in Scranton Wilkes-Barre. Outs, dude, outs.

94 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 13, 2013 9:57 pm

Oh for fuck's sake!

95 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 13, 2013 10:00 pm

Betances to Chamberlain would be like the trail of broken dreams, huh?

96 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 13, 2013 10:09 pm

[95] In Joba's case, it's the trail of tears.
