Good advice! And he's even got the linguistics approximately right. (Words like 'because' are definitely not adverbs -- most linguists count them as conjunctions, but some classify them as prepositions. But Wallace is exactly right that they mark subordinate clauses when they have clausal complements.)
I've been reading up on a lot of 'style guide' type aspects, as i write my snare drum book and college curriculum.
