For some reason, not a huge Beltran fan. But damn if we don't need his bat to be what it can be right now.

Tanaka aside, that lineup still looks like one that can win a few games. So let's do this!

3 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 11:48 am

[2] Oh, I glanced over the fact that it's Tanaka's turn. yay!

4 coleman42   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:09 pm

I would put Alfonso in the 9 hole

5 coleman42   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:15 pm

Shocker!

6 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:15 pm

feck

7 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:16 pm

Home sick.

I'm beginning to hate the As

8 thelarmis   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:17 pm

So...I turn on my tv to see if MLB.tv package righted itself and was working again. Didn't have to check, since the game is apparently on the MLB channel.

Very first fucking pitch I see is the goddamn home run. What a bunch of frickin' bollocks....

9 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:17 pm

This isn't going as well as I'd hoped.

10 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:20 pm

nice way to bounce back. OK, let's get some offense moving!

11 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:28 pm

looked away for a sec. missed jeter's hit. glad he got it though.

12 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:29 pm

Hey!!!!
That's good!

13 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:29 pm

Homer! Me! Challenge?

14 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:30 pm

oh no that's a double.

15 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:30 pm

Nope.

So, double? And Jeter scores?

What a nightmare.

16 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:31 pm

Is the rule that you put the runners where they would have been if the call had been made correctly?

17 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:32 pm

second and third is what you have to do. Sucks though.

18 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:32 pm

Looked good in real time, but clearly not a homer.

19 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:32 pm

ugh. now two outs. fuck.

20 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:32 pm

[16] Yup.

21 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:32 pm

They should change that rule. I mean, are the umpires supposed to check Jeter's recent 40 yard dash times?

22 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:33 pm

For fuck's sake.

23 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:34 pm

And of course they don't score.

24 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:34 pm

Yeah, that figures. That's the way the shiz has been going.

25 coleman42   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:39 pm

[24] Thanks for forsaking the bad word. However, I propose "Shix!" As a substitute.

26 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:47 pm

Sori! Finally.

27 coleman42   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:47 pm

Big cheers at the Stadium for Sori

28 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:47 pm

Sori? Sori? yes!

29 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:48 pm

Well hell's bells. The first thing I hear on the radio is a Soriano rbi.

30 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:49 pm

ok but that sucked.

31 coleman42   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:54 pm

This fellow Sogard does not look like he belongs on a baseball field.

32 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:57 pm

Okay, this is it, breakout inning. I feel it.

33 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:59 pm

yes Gardy!

34 thelarmis   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:59 pm

[8] ok, this is more like it.

i get outta the shower...first pitch...gritner goes BOOM!!!

35 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 12:59 pm

Rally-killer.

36 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 5, 2014 1:00 pm

Gardner PLANTS one in the right field seats. Gardy goes YARDY.
-j. Sterling. : )

37 thelarmis   ~  Jun 5, 2014 1:09 pm

mantle, tex, chii davis, fat elvis, and beltran have all played for the yanks.

eddie murray and chipper jones.

38 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 1:20 pm

Got'im.

39 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 1:34 pm

ARRRRGH.
Ten-pitch outs, I can stand. Not this crap.

40 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2014 1:35 pm

Man, some long at bats. Tanaka's pitch count is high and the Yanks run-scoring is low once again. Grrrrr.

41 coleman42   ~  Jun 5, 2014 1:41 pm

That second pitch to Crisp was a strike per gamecast

42 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 1:43 pm

I'm definitely disliking these As.

43 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 1:44 pm

He's not going more than 6 today. Our bullpen needs to do their job.

44 coleman42   ~  Jun 5, 2014 1:49 pm

I think they'll let him go 120 pitches...

45 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:05 pm

[44] yeah he can do 7. That was an efficient 6th thankfully.

46 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:11 pm

What are the odds that the Yanks don't score another run?

47 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:11 pm

Let's go BULL-PEN!

48 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:15 pm

Strikes, dude. Strikes. We need you to get more than three outs.

Oh thank god. That's two down in the seventh...

49 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:15 pm

[46] Pretty much whatever odds you want to name, man. I'll be shocked if they score.

50 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:16 pm

Okay. Okay.
Oh, man. I don't know why this seems like such an important game. I don't think the Yankees are going to play any important games this season...

51 coleman42   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:23 pm

[50] a win would get them above .500

52 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:25 pm

He drops the ball!

53 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:25 pm

I would stick with Betances, for sure. All the reasons the crew have mentioned for not doing it don't make sense.

54 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:30 pm

Nope, Warren.
This better freaking work. No time for bullpen roo-lette.

55 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:30 pm

[53] agreed.

56 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:30 pm

[54] oh well. Warren can do it.

57 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:33 pm

Jesus F Christ.

58 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:35 pm

Oh, god, are you kidding me?
Bullpen freaking roolette.

59 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:35 pm

Ruh roh.

60 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:36 pm

Will they bunt?? Interesting...

61 coleman42   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:36 pm

[56] looks like he's shell-shocked from last night

62 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:36 pm

Guess not.

63 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:37 pm

Or....

64 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:37 pm

We see where this is going, right?

65 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:37 pm

Okay.
Still hanging in there, Adam, good pitch.

66 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:37 pm

Double play, please.

67 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:41 pm

Ichiro!

68 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:41 pm

nice play Ichiro. One more Warren...

69 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:42 pm

Jeez, that was ball four he tagged, too.

Thank god for Ichiro. That pinch-run may have been huge!

70 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:45 pm

Warren!

71 coleman42   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:45 pm

A fine pitching effort!

72 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:45 pm

Naturally, a WP. Nothing's easy...

Oh sweet. WHEW!!!!!!

73 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:45 pm

NICE!

74 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:46 pm

Okay, this is the first moment that I've thought we're going to win.

75 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:47 pm

That was lucky. Almost there. One more inning. I trust this team for nothing right now obviously.

76 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:48 pm

RBJ, no 'phew'???

77 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:53 pm

[76]

Phew!

Had to let the dogs out. They were insistent.

78 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 2:56 pm

Nerts, no insurance.

79 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:00 pm

Here we go, baby. It's HAMMA TIME.

80 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:02 pm

One down.

81 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:02 pm

You. Just. Got. Nailed.

82 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:03 pm

Nothin's easy.

83 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:04 pm

Keep it together Dave.

84 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:05 pm

Damn

85 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:06 pm

Two down.

86 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:06 pm

Oy, with the stolen base...

87 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:06 pm

OMG.

My stomach can't take this.

88 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:07 pm

One more pin, Rodney.

89 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:07 pm

Okay, so, hm, those D-Rob curve balls bounce a lot. Better not chuck a WP, or a PB...

90 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:10 pm

Yay, Dave! THE HAMMA!!!

91 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:10 pm

Three down!

92 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:10 pm

YES!

93 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:10 pm

yes!

94 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:10 pm

We were all totally confident.

95 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:10 pm

Runs? Who needs 'em?

96 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:12 pm

Yeah, we know the recipe now:
hold the opposition to one run.

So simple!

97 coleman42   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:17 pm

[96] ...and Tanaka starts every game

98 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:26 pm

Tanaka's a fucking stopper.

99 coleman42   ~  Jun 5, 2014 3:33 pm

ERA now 2.02

100 seamus   ~  Jun 5, 2014 4:48 pm

With Tanaka and Darvish 1-2 in the AL ERA race, you gotta think that if GM heads weren't turned before re: current Japanese pitching that they will be now. I realize that these guys were off the charts good over there but it's hard to ignore the fact that their skills seem to have translated. Obviously Tanaka is still new here so that could change.
