I'll never forget taking my two young daughters to their first Old Timers Day. I believed that it was absolutely imperative for them to be able too see my all-time idol, the Mick, and Joe D. in person

Peaches En Regalia playing at the Stadium - can't get much cooler than that

[12] It's a hoot, isn't it? The whole thing is a hoot! Vaudeville meets nostalgia meets baseball.

14 coleman42   ~  Jun 22, 2014 12:16 pm

I love the cameramen being on the field, reminds me of the old days when I played.

15 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 22, 2014 12:18 pm

30 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 1:39 pm

I remember the time I got Andre Robertson to autograph the under-bill of my Yankees cap. Unfortunately, the signature was washed away by perspiration in a matter of weeks.

But I remember him standing there, carefully signing my cap.

31 thelarmis   ~  Jun 22, 2014 1:43 pm

One of my first memories is of Willie Randolph signing an autograph for me outside the stadium. I remember him being super nice and cordial. My mom had a light blue envelope in her pocketbook. Willie carefully signed his name in his excellent cursive and wrote #30 underneath. We tacked it to a bulletin board, but I don't think it made the move from Queens to LI. I have a vice memory of it, however! : )

32 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 1:44 pm

:)

33 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 1:46 pm

Oh yeah, what happened to that car?

I remember the Mets had some (fuck) little go cart to bring their relievers in while the Yanks had some classy pinstriped ride.

34 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 1:46 pm

Damn

35 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 1:49 pm

So, uh. Joe couldn't move Derek down in the order, right? He could bat eighth or something.

48 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:31 pm

Shite!

49 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:32 pm

Dammit!

50 RIYank   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:32 pm

51 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:32 pm

This fecklessness is wearing thin.

52 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:32 pm

oh my. impressive catch.

53 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:33 pm

[43] I know, I missed it! I heard the whole little story but failed to catch the name of the venue!

54 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:36 pm

[53] damn. I'm actually thinking of watching the game replay because i'm curious.

Has anyone been to shea stadium in Brooklyn? I was really confused that these small bands I liked were playing at Shea stadium at first.

55 thelarmis   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:39 pm

i saw the Who and the Police at Shea. around '82, '83

56 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:40 pm

Phew

57 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:40 pm

Now, where's that confounded Score Truck?

58 thelarmis   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:41 pm

whew

59 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:41 pm

[55] I saw the Stones there in I think 89 or 90. But this is a small venue in Brooklyn apparently. It was very confusing to hear about bands playing there.

60 thelarmis   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:41 pm

[57] i wish i saw led zep live. i wasn't alive though...

61 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:43 pm

My God.

This is maddening the fuck out of me.

62 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:44 pm

[60] yeah same here. would have been great.

63 thelarmis   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:44 pm

[59] oh yeah, i saw them there, too. steel wheels tour, with living colour opening. an african drum troupe, too.

64 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:49 pm

This game is excruciating.

65 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:51 pm

This is killing me.

66 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:51 pm

[64] i've only been watching for about an inning and i agree.

67 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:57 pm

Efficient inning. Tanaka needed that.

68 RIYank   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:58 pm

What the hell is wrong with this Tanaka guy? We just can't keep the lead with him on the mound.

69 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:59 pm

hurry up and win guys!

70 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 2:59 pm

[68] seriously. For a pitcher he sure scores very few runs.

71 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:00 pm

Can't believe we're getting shut out.

72 RIYank   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:03 pm

[71] You can't?? You should be able to by now. You've had plenty of practice.

73 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:03 pm

wow lame lame lame.

74 RIYank   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:03 pm

Ah, excellent. I was tired of leaving runners on base every inning. Good work this time guys!

75 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:03 pm

Very tempted to just give up on this game and go watch the orphan black season finale.

76 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:04 pm

Two feckless pop ups after hitting the ball well yesterday. Bleh.

77 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:06 pm

I was so traumatized as a kid when Thurman Munson died.

78 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:08 pm

shit. not good.

79 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:08 pm

He's going to get out of this unscathed.

But it won't matter because we can't score a fucking run.

80 thelarmis   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:09 pm

[77] me too. still am...

just hung my thurman plaque in my den the other night : )

81 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:09 pm

Motherfucker.

82 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:11 pm

Great, now it's 200-0

83 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:11 pm

FUCK!!!!!

84 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:11 pm

Now 300-0

85 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:12 pm

[82] So weird, I thought precisely that: "Now it feels like it's 200-0."

86 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:14 pm

[80] Nice. I had a framed signed pic but it seems to have disappeared over the years. I think maybe during my divorce or something. I think my parents divorce sucked up my Nettles jersey years ago too. Both make me sad.

87 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:16 pm

At least Toronto lost. Still, I want to win this for Tanaka.

88 thelarmis   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:17 pm

[86] a year or two ago, i went on a big time thurman baseball card buying spree. made me feel good : )

89 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:20 pm

GODDDDDDDDDDDDDD!

I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

90 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:20 pm

GET A FUCKING HIT!!!! SOMEONE, ANYFUCKINGONE, GET A FUCKING HIT!!!

91 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:20 pm

[88] sweet. I should find a replacement munson item for the rec room.

btw, I think you'll appreciate this in particular, I picked up a flexidisc the other day. I don't think i'd seen one in 20 years.

92 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:21 pm

Thank you, Ichiro!

(He should be batting second.)

Come on, Brett, fucking PLEASE!!!

93 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:23 pm

[92] Regardless of outcome, Gardy might be the man for this spot. I just feel better with him batting than with anyone else.

94 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:23 pm

although, that change up is messing brett up big time.

95 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:24 pm

Of course.

96 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:24 pm

Oh my God.

Shoot me now.

97 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:24 pm

oh feck it. that sucked.

98 RIYank   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:24 pm

Yeah.
I was wondering how we'd avoid scoring this time. My bet was swinging strikeout, but easy groundout was a close second.

99 thelarmis   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:24 pm

FUCK!

100 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:31 pm

well, fuck this. good day all.

101 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:32 pm

that was effin ridiculous. Not even close.

102 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:32 pm

I want to see how they call this because that was bush league.

103 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:33 pm

This is too much.

This game is just killing me.

104 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:34 pm

OK, looks like I missed something. Replay?

105 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:35 pm

He was no where near the bag. Bullshit call.

106 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:36 pm

[104] the runner sliding into third base was way off the base which is why Kelly threw it away. It can't be replayed but there has been umpires conferencing and managers arguing. I really don't like it because he could have hurt Kelly the way he did that. Nobody would expect him to be where he ended up.

107 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:38 pm

Obviously.

108 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:39 pm

This game is some kind of horse shit.

109 seamus   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:39 pm

ok gone for real. Can't stomach this. good day folks.

110 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:40 pm

[109] Smart man. Cheers.

111 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:41 pm

Oh, for FUCK'S sake!!

Jesus, do you see this shit?

112 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:45 pm

Whirled Cup in an hour. I like the US's chances against Portugal better than the Yankees chances here. And I don't like our chances against Portugal.

113 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 3:56 pm

Sure, why not give up a first big league home run.

114 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 22, 2014 4:12 pm

Oh yeah, Sori's on this team.

115 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 4:14 pm

One run in 18 innings. Horseshit offense.

116 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 6:12 pm

US has had chances

117 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 6:13 pm

Almost at 55

118 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 6:22 pm

GOOOOOOOOOOOAL!

119 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 6:40 pm

A second goal! Missed it, stupid laundry

120 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 6:53 pm

Damn it!

121 rbj   ~  Jun 22, 2014 6:54 pm

Damn you Renaldo

122 RIYank   ~  Jun 22, 2014 7:00 pm

That last Por goal kicked me in the stomach.

But, let's face it, the tie is what we needed. Now tie the Germans and go through, or even lose by a goal or two and our guys are in good shape.

123 RIYank   ~  Jun 22, 2014 7:02 pm

[121] (By the way, it's Ronaldo. Renaldo is the retired Brazilian.)
