Made it. Missed the first half hour as I had to pick Sparky up from the vet. Just the annual tooth cleaning.

Man, I'm tense. Not really enjoying it.

Thank god for Tim Howard. Damn.
I know he's highly thought of in world soccer, but I still think he's underrated.

I'm happy with that half.
Belgium is clearly better technically -- they keep possession for a long time, probing for weakness, and they have earned a bunch of corners But our guys are faster and stronger, they can make up for mistakes with speed like a great cornerback. On net, Belgium got slightly the better of the first half, but I’m pretty impressed – we had good chances and I think we’ll score in the second half.

Thrice.

8 RIYank   ~  Jul 1, 2014 4:18 pm

Yeah, the Belgians are taking it to us this half. Maybe a fast counterstrike is what we need.

9 RIYank   ~  Jul 1, 2014 4:31 pm

Good, Wondolowski for Zusi, that should help. We need something.

Gonzalez has been tremendous though.

Yedlin and Besler with the closing speed and energy. Man, exciting.

Belgium is going to get lucky one time.

17 RIYank   ~  Jul 1, 2014 4:48 pm

They look tired. Well, both sides do.

Understandably!

18 RIYank   ~  Jul 1, 2014 4:50 pm

Kompany, always on the run
Destiny, oooh, and the rising sun

19 RIYank   ~  Jul 1, 2014 4:51 pm

OH MAN!

He was off anyway.

Wow, heart-stopper. Holy shit.

Oh he was onside! Man, if he'd scored that would have been a huge scandal.

20 rbj   ~  Jul 1, 2014 4:51 pm

Dammit!

21 RIYank   ~  Jul 1, 2014 4:51 pm

Wow, that was painful.

Dammit.

Not toooptimistic now.

25 RIYank   ~  Jul 1, 2014 5:07 pm

Sheesh. They're putting everything they have into the attack, but they kind of stumble at the finish.
Altidore for Jones? Altidore must really not be available.

26 RIYank   ~  Jul 1, 2014 5:12 pm

Ahhhhhh.

God, so disappointing.

32 rbj   ~  Jul 1, 2014 5:32 pm

33 RIYank   ~  Jul 1, 2014 5:33 pm

35 MSM35   ~  Jul 1, 2014 5:52 pm

I guess this means I can hold my head high when I go to Europe this summer. Congrats to the squad. They did the country proud.

35) especially if you're in England, Spain, Portugal, and Italy: four soccer powerhouses that were expected to go further than the U.S.
It's incredible how the country tuned in.
