This one brings me back. A cousin from Belgium visited the summer it came out. She bought the record and my sister, brother and I listened to it until there were a few scratches. Our cousin got so pissed that she bought a new one. But we were happy because, after all, what are a few skips? I can’t even tell you that I like this song. It doesn’t matter because it is so evocative that I can’t hear it without remembering where I was the summer it was released.

i've been on a HUGE billy joel kick lately!!! especially this album. i remember when it came out too - got the vinyl with my mom and brother and we spun it in the living room all the time. it was released in the spring of 1980.
all of side 1 were big hits. this song here is also excellent. i don't love the track after it, but it's mostly in french so you probably dig it! ; ) the last track isn't great either, but this is another excellent album in a looooong line of fantastic records.
i'm taking my wife to see him the end of february, here in atlanta. can't wait!
That record came out during a dark period for my family--my dad's drinking was out of control, my parents' marriage was all but over. So the feelings it brings up are...complicated. But I remember listening to that record over and over.
I saw him this tour at Madistone Squares Garden. My first rock concert, and speaking of drinking, my first (il)legal beer…I was only 17.
Great memories, in deed.
