According to Baseball Prospectus the Yanks chances of making the playoffs are 99%. With that knowledge we can save Hideki for the wild card game if necessary. Of course a home tilt would be preferable.

Man, Shea really has a huge outfield.

3 rbj   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:18 pm

Good, a run.

4 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:24 pm

Hi, Curtis!

5 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:27 pm

[2] Shea, yeah.
Showing your age.

6 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:28 pm

Was that an 8-pitch inning for Hiro?

7 MSM35   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:29 pm

Good thing about Ryan starting. They can pinch hit 4 times for the spot.

8 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:30 pm

[7] eternal optimist?

9 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:33 pm

That injury of Jung Ho Kang just sucks. Pittsburgh let out a collective sigh last night.

10 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:34 pm

Oooh. Can Tanaka bunt?

11 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:35 pm

Fuck.

12 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:35 pm

[5] Indeed.

13 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:35 pm

What? What the hell was that? Really?
Gawd, Ryan got no jump at all.

14 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:36 pm

hmm, i thought safe but that replay makes me doubt it. damn, i think he is out.

15 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:36 pm

[12] You know Shea was torn down in 2008, right?

16 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:39 pm

Chase comes up short.

17 mhoward120   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:40 pm

Thank goodness Tanaka didn't pull a Wang.

18 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:42 pm

[17] Yeah, that's always embarrassing, right on camera.

19 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:42 pm

Oh, wait, I see what you meant now.

20 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:43 pm

[17] speaking of wang:

"Awarded jointly to two individuals: ... and to Michael L. Smith [USA, UK, THE NETHERLANDS], for carefully arranging for honey bees to sting him repeatedly on 25 different locations on his body, to learn which locations are the least painful (the skull, middle toe tip, and upper arm). and which are the most painful (the nostril, upper lip, and penis shaft)."

21 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:43 pm

oh that's a first! My comment is awaiting moderation!

22 thelarmis   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:45 pm

I grew up in NY watching these two teams play (no, RI, not playing each other. Well, save for the Mayor's Trophy games in spring training), but as of *today*, I am now a home owner in the city of Atlanta! : )

23 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:45 pm

Fuck you for jinxing him, Flash.

Goddamn it.

24 rbj   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:45 pm

Damn

25 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:45 pm

groan

26 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:45 pm

Lucas hits one long and high
Du-da, Du-da...

27 thelarmis   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:45 pm

Nice work, seamus!

My first time as a home owner : )

28 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:46 pm

[15] I cling to my denial thereof. Don't begrudge me that.

29 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:46 pm

[22] dude, congrats!

30 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:46 pm

Thelarmis, congrats on the closing!
You're our new closer.

31 thelarmis   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:46 pm

Sux having to root for the sox again tonight...

32 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:47 pm

[28] to help reinforce the mirage that Shea Stadium still exists...

33 rbj   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:47 pm

[21] Congrats. Welcome to the joys of hom ownership. Within the past two years I've had to replace the furnace and had service calls on my washer, dryer and garage door.

34 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:47 pm

Seamus, remember your numbering is going to be off now. Subtract one from all your comment ref numbers if you want them to match our numbering.

35 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:47 pm

[17] I was thinking about that too. Also (speaking of Shea), wasn't it at Shea where Hideki twisted his ankle out in left to break his streak?

36 thelarmis   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:48 pm

Thanks, guys!!!

I am honored to be your new closer. I can play Enter Sandman on the marimba. (Master of Puppets too)

37 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:48 pm

[33] doh. thanks RI! I was just wondering why [32] referenced [21] when it should reference [22].

38 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:48 pm

[21] Congratulations, my friend! That must feel great!

39 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:49 pm

[32] Yeah, no kidding. I had to replace my freaking roof two years ago, ouch. Will spend thousands on painting this coming April.

40 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:49 pm

[29] Coffee is for him, only.

41 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:50 pm

[31] Hahaha!

42 thelarmis   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:50 pm

I appreciate the good feelings, rbj ; )

As far as horns go, when I was a freshman at Penn State, someone on my floor of the dorm found out I was Jewish and asked where my horns were. Huh. Apparently, I've owned horns forever!

43 thelarmis   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:52 pm

First up, is I'm having a soundproofed drum studio built in the backyard. That's gonna be more of a headache than the stressful process of buying the house.

I recently lost my studio of 17 years, so I've been musically homeless. I've since set up a semblance of a studio here in my basement.

Btw, we bought the house we've been renting, so we don't have to move or change our address : )

44 thelarmis   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:53 pm

We were given free tickets to Elton John tonight, so I'll check in later...

Really excited to share this wonderful news with you guys - my online family! : )

GO YANKS!!!

45 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:55 pm

[43] awesome. Enjoy the show!

46 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:55 pm

[39] You call yourself a relief pitcher, you son of a bitch?

47 thelarmis   ~  Sep 18, 2015 6:55 pm

Oh, I went on the horn tangent coz I thought rbj spelled it wrong. Turns out, he typed home without the e. hard to see on the iPhone!

I'll throw the horns anyway...

50 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:05 pm

[46] :)

51 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:06 pm

[47] Right?

52 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:11 pm

[48] Why that one in particular?

53 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:12 pm

[51] oh, just the wang component. It sort of made sense in that moment in my head. But of course, I tried to quote it and the system didn't like that.

54 rbj   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:18 pm

Not liking this

55 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:19 pm

Whew.

56 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:19 pm

phew indeed

57 rbj   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:22 pm

58 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:22 pm

[21] Congrats, Nostra!

59 seamus   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:32 pm

ok, hope yinz can carry the load. i've gotta step out. Let's Go Yanks!

60 rbj   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:35 pm

Tanaka in control, now get some runs

61 rbj   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:40 pm

Crap, I'm scheduled for Cubs Cards tomorrow, because, Midwest. Will be late anyhow as I need new tires

62 thelarmis   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:42 pm

Thanks, cult!

63 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:43 pm

Man, that 1-2 to Didi was a great pitch.

64 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:43 pm

Good cut...hang in there, Didi.

65 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:44 pm

Nice and easy...just redirect the baseball...

66 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:45 pm

Damn.

Oh, wow!

Really? He beat that out?

How on earth did that happen?

67 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:45 pm

Spidi Didi!

68 MSM35   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:45 pm

Pinch hitter please.

69 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:45 pm

[65] Flores stopped and set, just to be sure he made a good throw... usually a wise move, but not this time.

70 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:46 pm

I don't know that I've ever seen anyone simply beat out a routine grounder to short before.

Wow.

71 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:46 pm

[67] They would have walked a pinch hitter...

72 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:47 pm

It won't let me say "Fuck" because apparently I already said that.

73 MSM35   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:47 pm

He let Ryan bat. OMG.

74 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:48 pm

Uh, Brendan Ryan, Joe???

75 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:48 pm

[71] I vaguely remember that occasion.

76 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:49 pm

[72] [73] See [70].

77 MSM35   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:49 pm

I would have been bases loaded and the pitcher would have batted this inning instead of next.

78 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:50 pm

Let's go Yankees. The drummer can't be homeless! That joke is debunked! Congratulations thelarmis (Eric)!

This is a little scary, the game.

79 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:50 pm

It's amazing that Henry Kissinger is still alive.

80 rbj   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:52 pm

[71] add an exclamation point or something. I think even messing with upper & lower case works.

81 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:52 pm

Man, that was a great K.

82 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:53 pm

[78] 92 is the new 80.

83 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:53 pm

[79] Cheers!

84 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:53 pm

[81] Damn. 92.

85 rbj   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:55 pm

Motherfucker!

86 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:55 pm

His kryptonite.

87 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:55 pm

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

88 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:56 pm

Ugh.

89 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:56 pm

[86] Did you say that already?

90 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 18, 2015 7:59 pm

To quote Mr. Kissinger

"Each success only buys an admission ticket to a more difficult problem."

What will the Yankees do now?

91 rbj   ~  Sep 18, 2015 8:00 pm

Yeah, pinch hit

92 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 8:01 pm

Way to get there, Tanaka.

93 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 18, 2015 8:02 pm

Must pinch hit.

94 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 18, 2015 8:05 pm

You think Jacoby could take a pitch?

95 RIYank   ~  Sep 18, 2015 8:19 pm

Well go figure.

That looks like the ballgame, huh?

96 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 18, 2015 8:19 pm

That's your ballgame, folks.

I feel so deflated.

97 rbj   ~  Sep 18, 2015 8:20 pm

Jeebus.

98 rbj   ~  Sep 18, 2015 8:20 pm

[95] Blame Brady

99 MSM35   ~  Sep 18, 2015 8:22 pm

I usually don't bitch about managers but Joe has many right handed relievers at his disposal. I also can't stand that he continues to play Ryan and Drew.

100 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 18, 2015 8:23 pm

Shreve averages one long ball per inning lately.

Is there Slade Magic available?
